“The BBQ is always outstanding. This place literally sets the standard for all BBQ everywhere. I’ve had BBQ all over the country. Lots a great BBQ out there for sure, but there is none better than 17th Street. Even the sides are pretty good. This is where so many BBQ joints lose me is when they have terrible sides. We did order some potato skins and some fried pickles. Both were very good. There is a huge volume of fried pickles in one order. We got too much when we ordered 2 servings of them. Service is always good.“

“I love this place! I recently went with my future sister, but I've been many times before with other friends. The crepes are delicious, and the tea options are many. It has both sweet and savory crepes. My personal favorite is the mushroom chicken crepe for savory and strawberry and honey for sweet.
Note: they also have free Wi-Fi and would be a great place to catch up on assignments as it is right next to the SIU campus.“

“I love this place, and it is great everytime i go. Im a huge fan of gyros, and their fries are delicious. They appear to be going back to waiters/waitresses serving you at your table, which is a healthy sign for a business. One of the only places in the Southern Illinois area that i enjoy.“

“We went for lunch and grabbed 3 tacos and the supposedly potato skins. It was nasty, you couldn't chew the steak or chicken and the potatoes were raw covered in nasty cheese. I have always enjoyed tres but won't spend another dime in the place. It gets a big fat zero rating.“

“17th Street and Mike is a huge reason why I stepped out to start my own. He was a great man and all the people who work there are great. Without 17th Street, Southern Illinois wouldn't be known for their BBQ. Thanks for putting us on the map and inspiring all of us who want to become a BBQ staple in our communities. Your bbq nachos are my favorite thing to eat there.“
