“As soon as I walked in the staff was absolutely friendly! I ordered a mangonada an a couple other items for my boyfriend and my kids and we all absolutely loved it. Hands down has to be one of the best ice cream spots. Not to mention every other ice cream place takes forever to serve the customers they were quick and gave great service it made everything 10x better.“

It looks small from the outside, but it’s enormous in flavor! It’s a very cute and nicely decorated place. Staff is incredibly nice and helpful. But the food… it rocks! We ordered the Orden de Quesobirria and a Carne en su Jugo and a Agua de Jamaica (hibiscus water) and a Horchata (rice water). The Carne stew was delicious! So many levels of flavors. “Stopped here twice this week! Once for lunch and a second time for late a dinner. Lunch I had the burrito with barbacoa, which was very good! We order the empanadas both times we visited. The empanadas were amazing and I will order them anytime I am there!

2024 update: they no longer have barbacoa as a meat option, which honestly sucks because it was very good. I still really like their truck stop nachos and think they’re the best nachos to share. Unlike typical nachos that don’t have enough toppings, it seems like these nachos are layered so nearly every chip has cheese/toppings on it!“

“I want to start off by saying I love this place it’s one of my go to spots in Logan square for Mexican food they have really good sazón, their tacos, sopes, chilaquiles all really good but today I ordered a grilled chicken plate and was a little disappointed it looked very simple I was expecting some grilled onions or some grilled chiles or even a grilled nopal but this is what I got don’t get me wrong everything tasted amazing the rice the beans n chicken even the salad“

“Ever since our former far north side Mexican go-to restaurant had a fire and reopened without the same quality of food we used to love, my partner and I have been looking for a new delivery and eat-in joint. We love how awesome the universe of Mexican food is here in Chicago but a lot of the eateries on the far north side are just kind of meh. Nobody deserves to eat meh Mexican food in Chicago, ever. It took us a year and a half to finally find Taqueria El Charro and we’re completely blown away. I’ve lived in Chicago for 21 years and he’s lived in Chicago almost as long. I used to teach English in Pilsen. Once I had a chance to move back home to New York City and I sat in a Chicago Mexican restaurant at 18th and Ashland and cried because I didn’t want to leave Chicago Mexican food behind. So, this place has some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten here in my adopted hometown. I don’t say that lightly. You don’t kid around with Mexican food in Chicago. I cannot emphasize how quietly awesome this place is.“

“Last week I was on my way to take my son for a haircut and decided to stop and eat here. It was my first time. Service was great and food delicious. I was not having a good day but tried my best to not show it. As I'm eating I saw a man come in. Eat by himself and then left. My surprise when I went to go pay. This man had paid for my food. Who ever it was Thank you so much if this is ever read. That was a beautiful gesture and completely made my day. I got my son his haircut and took him for some ice cream afterwards. “Me and the wife had dinner her for our anniversary. Nice atmosphere. Nice Latin music to match. Brussel sprout appetizer was superb. I had a wood fired ribeye steak. It was good but I had to say I was expecting it to be better. My wife had the Pescado(fish fillet) and she said it was good as well. I don’t trust my wife much when it comes to fancy food cuz she’s a picky eater and is more a burger, pork chop or fish fry kind of gal. Overall it was a very nice dinner for both of us and wouldn’t mind coming here again.“

“Honestly, best fish tacos I have ever had. This is my second time coming and it did not disappoint. My wife enjoyed her steak and Al pastor taco combo. I had the two fish (grilled) taco combo and it tasted even better the second time. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, and even better, the service and staff were nothing but fantastic. I have always seen this place in passing and it always caught my attention, since I had it, I haven’t found any other fish tacos that I have enjoyed as much as this place. The price for the two of us, including drinks, was $45. Pricey but fare portions and we did not leave with an empty stomach. I highly highly recommend at least trying the steak and fish tacos.“

Would have loved to see an interior decor that’s less fast-casual (I.e. mostly white walls, bright lights, millennial grey wood furnishings, big flat screen TVs playing MMA) and leans more into the overlapping rich and warm vibrant aesthetics of Mexico and India. I would love for this place to succeed, and maybe I’m not the target demographic, but that’s what would make me want to come back more often.“

“Amazing food and quality. Didn’t expect this place to be that good but it really is. The people are super nice, great service, and food comes out fast. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area.
For some reason the beans were the best beans I’ve had in while.

“Absolutely delicious! We ordered delivery from New Era. Food arrived quick and HOT! I ordered the Steak Huarache, my partner ordered a chicken quesadilla. He said it was the BEST quesadilla he’s ever had. Homemade tortillas, melty cheese, seasoned chicken - YUM! I had honestly never heard of a huarache until this restaurant opened. I had to try it - it was phenomenal! So delicious and full of flavor! Their red and green salsa is amazing! Definitely will order again and look forward to visiting in person!“
