“We went to Zentli on a Sunday evening. The ambience was welcoming and the waitstaff friendly and helpful. We ordered vegan food which was fresh, delicious and filling. My husband thought the Zentli Salad was excellent. We both had tacos (Nopales, zetas and verduras). We shared the vegan dessert, plantains with a vegan caramel cream sauce, which was quite tasty. We will return , perhaps for a weekend brunch.“

The burrito I get the Charro beans and the Mexican rice. The Flautas are delicious— consider adding refried beans on top. I love the chicken with a side of rice and beans, as well. “Last week I was on my way to take my son for a haircut and decided to stop and eat here. It was my first time. Service was great and food delicious. I was not having a good day but tried my best to not show it. As I'm eating I saw a man come in. Eat by himself and then left. My surprise when I went to go pay. This man had paid for my food. Who ever it was Thank you so much if this is ever read. That was a beautiful gesture and completely made my day. I got my son his haircut and took him for some ice cream afterwards. “Really nice hole in the wall place. Good bang for your buck. It's really hard to beat Chorizo pound for pound in flavor. They have a good variety of meats for tacos, burritos, and tortas. It doesn't look like they have any non meat options for meat substitutes. Everything is cooked fresh and served to your table if you can find an open one. Fortunately for us it wasn't really packed on a Sunday afternoon. Personally, the Chorizo tortas is the most worth it. The table sauces are pretty good, the red on tastes like chili and paprika and the green one is just tomatillo.

We love how awesome the universe of Mexican food is here in Chicago but a lot of the eateries on the far north side are just kind of meh. Nobody deserves to eat meh Mexican food in Chicago, ever. It took us a year and a half to finally find Taqueria El Charro and we’re completely blown away. I’ve lived in Chicago for 21 years and he’s lived in Chicago almost as long. I used to teach English in Pilsen. Once I had a chance to move back home to New York City and I sat in a Chicago Mexican restaurant at 18th and Ashland and cried because I didn’t want to leave Chicago Mexican food behind. So, this place has some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten here in my adopted hometown. I don’t say that lightly. You don’t kid around with Mexican food in Chicago. I cannot emphasize how quietly awesome this place is.“

“Three words - $2 Taco Tuesday. Came by on a Tuesday and got a Al Pastor and Pollo (Chicken Tinga) taco. Man these tacos were fat. Loaded to the brim with meat and veggies, and encased in a double lined corn tortilla to ensure it stays. Not much else to say except they were bomb. Both salsas were solid, although i wish they had a bit more heat to them. The inside is like your typical mom and pop Mexican cafe, perfect for a sit down with friends to enjoy some good food. It was busy and the food came out quick too. Staff was friendly and helpful. Don’t walk, run to come try these for a great deal.“

I came here off of a recommendation as to who has the most flavorful Carne Asada tacos and they didn’t disappoint. With the taco dinner get two tacos as opposed to the three other places, but it’s really good and the staff was friendly.
