“THIS IS PROVBABLY THE 10TH COUPLE THAT WE HAVE OINTRODUCED TO GUANAJATO AND IT NEVER HAS DISAPPOINTED! THE SPECIALTY MARGARITA S (DE ORO AND THE BLACK ROSEMARY) ARE THE BEST AND THE EL MOCAHETE AND STEAK FAJITASARE FAVORITES. THE SERVICHE AND CASA FUNDIDO ARE GREAT APPETIZERS. ALWAYS HELPFUL WAIT STAFF. CHECK IT OUT!“

“I had looked at the menu before I came here so I knew I wanted The Cuban Sandwich when I arrived. It was fast and fresh. The meat was mouth watering! Was the best Cuban I ever had. I was not expecting this. Hoping for goodness.. but the best!! ???. The service was fast and friendly.
I give this place 5⭐️

“It was are first time here and all I can say is awesome place to go eat some delicious and authentic tacos. They had from mild to spicy sauces. Absolutely loved the hot sauce for my tacos de lengua. 10/10. Definitely coming back again with my family.“

“Someone did an adorable job decorating the space, the food was delicious, but the service could use some fine tuning. We had chips/salsa and elotes for the table, and we all loved the salsa. The fresh chips were delicious. Everyone's got their own take, and the elotes were also good, but another slice of lime would have been a great addition to the plate. A breakfast burrito, with steak, one red and one green chilaquiles later, and we all liked our brunch.“

“The food and drinks were good, the service was attentive and friendly but let the buyer beware! The waitstaff asked: "Celebrating a birthday?" Let us get you some shots! This happened twice however, all the shots ended up on our bill and it was $56 for four shots! Twice!“

“I’ve written several reviews about this restaurant because I just can’t say enough. Best Mexican food, excellent service. Cute, intimate setting you must try for yourself. BYOB. I’ve gone on record to say that I had the best steak I have ever had, with their skirt steak in their Tampiquena dish.“

“The food, drinks, service and recommendations were excellent. We were celebrating a birthday, and everything from the Oaxacan tlayuda to the Cornish hen with mole and the margaritas made with mezcal from the owners’ hometown in Oaxaca made for a great meal.“

“The best birria I have ever eaten in my entire life. I've just been there for the first time and it's simply incredible. From the first place, I was involved in something difficult to explain, so many years passing and never having given them a chance or knowing the goodness of their food.“

“Ever since our former far north side Mexican go-to restaurant had a fire and reopened without the same quality of food we used to love, my partner and I have been looking for a new delivery and eat-in joint. We love how awesome the universe of Mexican food is here in Chicago but a lot of the eateries on the far north side are just kind of meh. Nobody deserves to eat meh Mexican food in Chicago, ever. It took us a year and a half to finally find Taqueria El Charro and we’re completely blown away. I’ve lived in Chicago for 21 years and he’s lived in Chicago almost as long. I used to teach English in Pilsen. Once I had a chance to move back home to New York City and I sat in a Chicago Mexican restaurant at 18th and Ashland and cried because I didn’t want to leave Chicago Mexican food behind. So, this place has some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten here in my adopted hometown. I don’t say that lightly. You don’t kid around with Mexican food in Chicago. I cannot emphasize how quietly awesome this place is.“

“Last week I was on my way to take my son for a haircut and decided to stop and eat here. It was my first time. Service was great and food delicious. I was not having a good day but tried my best to not show it. As I'm eating I saw a man come in. Eat by himself and then left. My surprise when I went to go pay. This man had paid for my food. Who ever it was Thank you so much if this is ever read. That was a beautiful gesture and completely made my day. I got my son his haircut and took him for some ice cream afterwards. I will definitely pay it forward“

“Really nice hole in the wall place. Good bang for your buck. It's really hard to beat Chorizo pound for pound in flavor. They have a good variety of meats for tacos, burritos, and tortas. It doesn't look like they have any non meat options for meat substitutes. Everything is cooked fresh and served to your table if you can find an open one. Fortunately for us it wasn't really packed on a Sunday afternoon. Personally, the Chorizo tortas is the most worth it. The table sauces are pretty good, the red on tastes like chili and paprika and the green one is just tomatillo.
Vegetarian options: Ask the staff.
Dietary restrictions: Ask the staff
Parking: There's probably paid street parking around
Kid-friendliness: Good for families, pretty healthy options
Wheelchair accessibility: First floor, but there is a step“

“I had a burrito and my friend had tacos. They give you a good amount of meat in the dishes. The salsa was too spicy, a weird color, and did not come with the meal. The chips seemed to be out of a bag rather than made on site, either was not great chips. Overall, I feel like it was a pretty standard Mexican restaurant.“

“Great food. Friendly owner. A lot of food for the price. Did I mention the food?? Okay, so it is a break room on the 3rd floor of the office building, but so what? That makes it even better. I loved the atmosphere! Pro tip: bring your own mug if you like Strong coffee. I'm positively wired after one cup. 10/10 would recommend.“

For some reason the beans were the best beans I’ve had in while.

“If you’re in the Rogers Park area and you want some good authentic tacos stop by Taqueria Hernandez. I came here off of a recommendation as to who has the most flavorful Carne Asada tacos and they didn’t disappoint. With the taco dinner get two tacos as opposed to the three other places, but it’s really good and the staff was friendly.
Parking: Semi bad parking“

“Alright, so I've had a craving for pozole rojo for a month or so now after not having it for years. I come in and literally get the last of the batch after 9pm.
-Tender pork
-Tender hominy
-excellent broth
It wasn't as spicy as I hoped but the fresh onions, radish, and the dried cilantro gave this an incredible punch. It didn't make me sweat without working out (shout out to the man at the counter), but my god this was one of the best things I have eaten in a long time. This soup is near perfect and the weather is going to help justify getting it a couple of times a month.“

“Probably the best Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. The problem is they keep raising their prices. More-so than any restaurant I've been to in the city. It seems like every time I walk in I spend more than I did the last time. It's definitely has discouraged us from ordering from them which is a shame.“

Vegetarian options: Their vegetarian options actually have vegetables in them and aren't just an afterthought. I appreciate that they have vegan steak they can sub in to their non-veg options as well.“

“Destination tacos? In Winnetka? Yes - that's now a thing. Fondita Miguel is 45 minutes from us, but is well worth the trip. We had the pastor-marinated (al pastor) pork, chicken tinga, beef birria, and hongos (mushrooms) tacos and got to sample the asada steak - along with the elote (street corn) salad, guacamole, and a variety of salsas (wow!). The beef, chicken, mushrooms, pork, and steak fillings in our tacos are completely different in taste, seasoning, and texture. The spice level is just right for us - with a nice kick, but without burning our taste buds. The corn tortillas were freshly fried and warm, with a soft-crispy texture - they crunch but don't fall apart when you bite into the taco! And the fillings are generous, which I think is a nod to American portion sizes. The salsas are not just your average accompaniment. Each has differently prepared chiles as the base, ranging from a milder, creamy jalapeno salsa to a hotter red salsa (with a secret ingredient). We also heard there's a fourth one that's hotter than the three we tried. Like the salsas, the elote is not just an add-on. It's a must-order dish for whenever you need a refreshing, cool, creamy, and sweet balancing bite between the savory and spicy bites of the tacos. We also enjoyed chatting with the friendly team at Fondita Miguel, and the super-casual, counter-service-and-lunch-bar atmosphere makes you feel like you're on a taco crawl in Chicago - without leaving the 'burbs.
Parking: Park out on the street out front in slots/stalls - no parallel parking necessary.“
