“We had the best breakfast at Maple and Yolk! My partner ordered the eggs Benedict, and the dish looked so pretty! I ordered the stuffed French toast, and it was so good! Three pieces were definitely too much, but I was able to get a container so I could bring the rest of it home. The food arrived quickly, and the presentation made the food look as delicious as it tasted. The French vanilla latte was perfection, too! The service was friendly and attentive. This was our first time here, and it won't be our last. We found our new breakfast place!“

“Tavern at the lake was a pleasant surprise.It doesn't look like much from the outside.But the inside is very nice.And the atmosphere was unexpected, especially being in hobart, indiana. The food was great. Although I did think it was a little pricey for 1 person my bill was $50.00 with an appetizer and a meal.
The atmosphere was lively.I had a great waitress.Nice mix of people... What more can you ask for?. I definitely would recommend this place to eat have a drink or just have an appetizer.“

“The food, especially for what you pay, is great. I usually get a Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak Combo, it’s $12.99, is the entire width of a styrofoam to go container and is so damn stuffed with meat you need a fork to eat it cause there’s no damn way you can eat it without like half the meat falling back in the container.
My wife usually gets their Gyro plate and it’s the same deal, so much meat that it’s basically 2-3 meals for like $16.
Their decor is pretty simple, and honestly if they had to choose between great food at very reasonable prices or some swanky decor I’m glad they went with the food.“

“Home of the OG smash burgers. This is your classic Schoops. If you haven't been, shame on you. Anyway, it's an old school burger joint. They have green river if that is your thing. I can say that the Mickey I had here on my last visit was the best Mickey I have ever had. The service is with a smile and attentive. The soups rotate. If beef and barely is available the day you are there, get it. The Irish nachos are the bomb.“

Let me start by saying this loud and clear: I’m from CHICAGO, so I know breakfast — and I definitely know the importance of REAL Parker House sausage. Finding that outside of Chicago is rare, so when I saw it on the menu at Paige and Charlie’s Restaurant in Gary, I already knew this place was special. And they did NOT disappoint.

From the moment we walked in, the customer service was top-tier — warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. You can feel the pride they take in both their food and their customers. The atmosphere was comfortable, the energy was positive, and the service was fast and friendly.

Now let’s talk about the FOOD — because WOW. The Parker House sausage was absolutely on point — fresh, flavorful, and cooked exactly how it should be. This was a true Chicago-style breakfast experience, delivered perfectly in Gary. Every plate came out hot, fresh, and filling, and everyone at the table was impressed.

We came in as a team of 7 from Unlimited Taxes, and the ENTIRE group ate breakfast for LESS THAN $60 TOTAL. In today’s economy, that is completely UNHEARD OF.
