“Spare-Time Grill is the definition of a hidden gem. From the outside alone, you can tell it’s something special — that cute, old-school diner vibe with the vintage sign just pulls you in. It feels nostalgic in the best way.

The food absolutely delivered. The burnt goetta was the star of the plate — perfectly crispy on the outside with so much flavor in every bite. The eggs were fluffy, the home fries were seasoned and cooked just right, and those pancakes were golden, buttery perfection. Everything tasted homemade and comforting.

But what really made it stand out was the service. Everyone was so genuinely kind and welcoming — we felt right at home the entire time. It’s the kind of place where you can tell they care about their customers.

“First time here. The building is definitely dated. There is a drive thru. You order at the counter. Food was very reasonably priced. The “regular” size is pretty big. Wonder how much bigger the large is. Service was extremely fast. Fountain machine to fill your drink.

Their specialty seems to be the chili pizza (did not order) and the spagoney- and cheese coney but spaghetti instead of a hotdog. Ordered this and it was good.“

We had both flown in from 2 different states for a couple of attractions. After the Salmon we finished off a huge slice of Carrot Cake. The best I have ever had. She got all of our orders correct and even helped me order safely w food allergies. The chefs also did a wonderful job. “Came here for trivia night, very fun evening. Chicken hoagie was pretty darn good. Nice size 4 tenders were on the bun, but could have used more garlic on the bun. Burgers are decent and normal size. Loaded potatoes are exactly what youd expect. They give you a lot of fries, we couldn't finish them. Server was so friendly, so kind to us, she stayed checking on us and offered to go boxes, kept our table free of empty bottles, used plates. We are looking forward to returning.“

“We were visiting from Toronto for the MLS game and popped in for a quick beer. The staff was very friendly. Ended up meeting a very friendly manager who took us outside and explained the statues outside the ball park. Was definitely a highlite of the trip.

Beers were good, alot of staff. Very friendly. We only had a beer and left but the food portions we saw were big. Very clean washrooms and cool layout of the entire restaurant/bar.

“I got take out here twice in January - both for a group of 6+ folks. Also went in with my wife today and had a meal at the bar. They are really great all the way around. Take out was fast, friendly, fresh, correct and everything included.

The bar service today for our lunch - again - fast, fresh, delicious, friendly and couldn't asked for better. The petite dream haired bartender, we didn't get her name, she didn't miss a beat with anything. She was great as well (Wednesday January 28th at about noon). Efficient friendly and pleasant!

Also the gold margaritas with the extra shots were a terrific and a good value at $10. Been to Mexico a dozen times, and these hold their own!

Big portions, fresh baked bread and butter along with everything else. I don't prefer chain restaurants but they've got it figured out here.

“I never knew this spot was here until after seeing them on the news recently. My family and I stopped in to try it out and we were so impressed. The food was great and the staff was not only friendly but patient with my grandchildren as well. I have two that are extremely picker eaters and the devoured the tenders. I can not remember the owners name I think it was Phyllis please forgive me if I'm wrong but she was such a class act. She personally came out to check on everything and make sure we glad everything we needed. In a world full of the art of customer service being lost this place made a lasting impact on myself and my family. Our youngest is teething so as any parent or grandparents know with young children it can be stressful when they aren't feeling well in public. The owner made sure we felt welcome and just over and beyond what I would of expected. the atmosphere had a home town feel. Not sure if you will ever see this post but thank you for having a place that family's can enjoy.“

“We just attended a wine/food tasting and it was excellent. The wine superb (Mendel from Argentina) and the food pairing went exceptionally well with the wines selected. We used to visit their Ludlow location from time to time but since they’ve moved never ventured to Ft Thomas. We might change that now…keep organizing interesting tasting, we certainly will attend.“

When he delivered my friend's food, he told me he sent mine back because it didn't look up to standards. He then brought me the potatoes so I'd have something to eat while they redid my omelet.
