“My husband and I travel to southern Louisiana the first weekend in May every year to partake in the crawfish festival. As a result, we like to dine at as many local establishments as possible and we always try to give an elaborate, detailed review. Let me preface this by saying I come from a family that owned a restaurant for 24 years and I have high standards. Since we come to town for crawfish, that is usually the first thing on the menu. It is not my favorite, but my husband loves it. So he ordered the crawfish(platter I think) which was a couple pounds with corn and potatoes. We were offered regular or spicy. Right here is where things get different. We eat a LOT of crawfish down here and we do our own crawfish boils. You can choose “spicy” and obtain that by leaving them in the pot for a few extra minutes to soak up the seasonings and they will be “spicy”. However, there are a few places that try to obtain the “spicy” by adding a powdered heat to it after they have been removed from the pot. If you like that way, that’s fine. We do not. We find that all it does is get all over your hands and face and really doesn’t add very much flavor to the meat at all. Each to their own. On the flip side. The crawfish were cooked and presented well and they were priced right. I had fried catfish. This too presented its own problems since it was brought on a basket, but I didn’t receive any napkins, a plate, or a fork. I did go and ask for them and received all of them. I realize that most people are ok to eat certain things with their hands, but I am a nurse by trade and I know what is lurking around on people’s hands. There will never be a day when I will eat anything with my hands. On the flip side. The catfish was phenomenal!! It was seasoned to perfection! Cooked exquisitely well and served hot! On a scale of 1-10. I’d give them a 7.5. It was good. The things they did good, they did really good.“

“Stopped in with my mom while we were in the area and WOW! I will definitely be taking this way home from Lafayette more often. She got the pork roast, rice dressing, corn & yams. DELICIOUS! I got corn grits. Even being re-heated, they were the best I’ve ever eaten. We both got meat from their meat and I can’t wait to try it. We will definitely be back to try out the restaurant!“

I had phone-ordered three lunches to-go but, changed our minds after walking into the restaurant. We decided to stay and eat in the great atmosphere. “I come for the boudin and for Charlie t's seasoning mix. According to the employee that I talked to, they do not put organ meats in their boudin so it's a bit non-traditional. She said they use ground sirloin. I prefer to have a bit of liver in my boudin but Charlie t's is still very good because it's the best season boudin i have had. It's worth coming here for the seasoning mix alone. It's the best. The only other thing I ever get here is fried liver and fried gizzards which are both pretty good. I can't speak to the other food as I've never tried it.“

Anyway ima tell a story about my pain when trying to play ping pong, ok so me and my dad where at the worlds second largest Marriott very cool place 10/10 but I wanted to play sum ping pong so I went down to the pool but there where people playing so me and my dad went up to our room. The next day we went to go get breakfast and when we came back, the same two people where playing ping pong now thing is they aren’t GOOD they aways miss the ball like how can that be fun. The NEXT DAY THEY WHERE STILL PLAYING PING PONG I hope this was long enough.“

Y’all. Fried chicken might be a simple dish, but what they’re doing at Veronica Café? Next level. “Every year my husband and I travel all the way from Kentucky to Breaux bridge just for the crawfish festival. It is important to us that we immerse ourselves in the local flair including the dining. While we try new places every year the one we never deviate from is Buck & Johnny’s Zydeco Breakfast. We absolutely love everything about it. The environment, the food, the clientele, and most of all the music. Before I start let me preface this be saying that o come from a family who owned a restaurant for 24 years, so I have really high standards. First, no matter what, ALWAYS order the beignets!! They are just the best things ever! They are hot, and fresh! The breakfast menu is expansive and very cognizant of the culture that is southern Louisiana! Do yourself a favor and each order something different and share a little from everyone’s plate. You won’t be disappointed. Our waitress today was Deidre and she was on point. For the first time since 2017 they opened the event center side for overflow seating. She was the only waitress taking care of that side. Even though there were some unruly customers trying to make her life difficult, she prevailed and delivered outstanding service to that table as well. The only negative I can say is that in the past they had a signature Bloody Mary which was top shelf. They did not have that this year and it was greatly missed. I opted for the shrimp po' boy, which was decent and flavorful. I'd rate it a 3.75 out of 5. My husband tried the fried pork chop special. Although it had good flavor, the pork was a bit dry, so we would rate it a 3.25 out of 5.

The standout feature of our visit was undoubtedly the friendly and welcoming staff. They were attentive and added a pleasant touch to our dining experience. While the food had its ups and downs, the overall atmosphere and service made it a worthwhile visit.

“I love that Randol's kept the old atmosphere of Mulate's. Their fried fish and hush puppies were really good and all of us Cajuns gave their gumbo a big thumbs up!!“

“During our dinner today we had a medical emergency and the staff acted very quickly. This was a scary moment for us as my aunt needed immediate medical care and the staff did not hesitate to help. They went above and beyond by packing up our food while we worked with EMS and continuously checked in making sure we were okay.
This could have come off as an inconvenience or a problem but instead the staff stood up and helped out.
Our family will forever be thankful for the kindness and compassion offered by the staff.
