“Literally my favorite Chinese spot. I live far from this restaurant, but idc I’ll pay the extra mileage doordash fees everytime. Their kung bo beef is divine, the beef is super tender and the flavor’s all there. The perfect amount of heat. It’s always fresh and affordable. My go to.“

“Hot Wok Buffet & Lounge is a casual Chinese buffet stop in the Chalmette area that’s all about variety and value. It’s not downtown New Orleans proper, but if you’re craving all-you-can-eat in a relaxed setting with a wide range of Asian-inspired dishes — from sushi and stir-fries to classic Chinese comfort foods — this is the kind of place where you can happily fill your plate and go back for more.
The vibe here is unpretentious and laid-back — think casual buffet with big portions and options that suit lunch or dinner without fuss. The menu has a mix of seafood, rice and noodle dishes, dim sum-style bites, and even some American favorites tucked into the spread. It’s the sort of spot that’s perfect if you want to graze through lots of flavors without spending too much.
That said, some people feel the food quality can be inconsistent and that not every dish hits the mark — but the friendly service and the all-you-can-eat buffet format keep the experience fun and satisfying overall.
For me, Hot Wok is best approached with an open mind and a big appetite — it’s simple, hearty, and stuffed with options that make it feel like a casual feast rather than a refined meal“

“The restaurant itself is clean and spacious! Aside from that, the food is so delicious and made fresh to order! Packed with flavor, not oily or soupy. I got the honey chicken with pork fried rice and spring roll. By far the best honey chicken I have had in a VERY LONG TIME. A lot of places the breading becomes soft but here at Hawaii City, even hours later I have crispy pieces of chicken. The rice is sooo good! Quite honestly it’s the best spring roll I have had in about 10 years! Crispy outside, soft inside. The service is immaculate, the girl who runs the counter is so cheerful, always smiling and extremely sweet! We will definitely be back Hawaii City! Thank you again for a wonderful meal and wonderful service!“

“A true neighborhood gem on St. Bernard Ave. The homemade shrimp egg rolls and everything fried rice are absolutely fire — cooked fresh to order and the portions are massive, easily enough for two full meals. The parking lot stays packed all day which tells you everything you need to know.
Super friendly staff, fast service, and super affordable prices. Closed Mondays so plan accordingly. One of the best Chinese takeout spots in NOLA, no question.“

“Amazing spot! I wasn’t sure if I would be able to find any spots in New Orleans where there would be authentic Chinese food. If you’re not looking for the traditional American Chinese flavors you must stop by this spot. Truly a hidden gem!“

“I'm in town for an event and needed something to take back to the hotel. I was craving some Chinese food, and chose this one based on star rating. I live on the Gulf Coast of Alabama and the Chinese food is absolutely terrible, small portions, yellow rice(for fried rice), and expensive for the amount of food. This was the best Chinese I've had since leaving California. It smelled great, and tasted even better, and at a reasonable price. You should appreciate what you have here, I would definitely eat there again.“

“We stopped in for wings and shrimp, #7 & #57
The food was excellent, large portions, very tasty.
Small looks a bit sketchy but the food is great and server was very friendly. Great prices. We would recommend this restaurant.“

“I’m rating this place by the last time I ate here… I think maybe 23 years ago at this point in my life… this is my biased opinion. This is how I grew up… this place, as a child, were the happiest moments in my life with my family and friends. Life happens. You don’t see people and they go away like the seasons… but I need to go back to the 504 soon. I miss this place so much and all the reviews and pictures make me reminisce of my childhood… when I was innocent and had less responsibilities… my parents were great for spoiling me for the rest of my life on Cantonese cuisine. There is and will never be anything better… there was a place in, Utah that came close. I do believe a family member of the owners started his own restaurant. Their Lo Mien is just as good.“

“China Wok is an excellent take out restaurant with fresh, made to-order dishes. The orange chicken is one of the best I’ve ever had flavorful, perfectly cooked, and served in generous portions. The shrimp lo mein is also very tasty and well prepared. While there is no dine in option, their to go service is quick and convenient. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality Chinese food with great portion sizes“

“The sesame chicken, spring rolls, fried rice, and egg drop soup were all wonderful. Service was fast, easy online ordering, and order accurate. It’s a very standard American-Chinese take away restaurant. Which is sometimes exactly what you want.“

“The food is consistently good. I been coming here for years and it never disappoints. It’s gotta be a family business because that’s the vibe you get in there. I love the sesame chicken and their shrimp and broccoli and don’t forget to add a shrimp egg roll. If someone has had a bad expirience I can almost promise you it’s the exception. Love this place !!“

“I have been eating and having takeouts from this yesterday for years now, I can't get enough for their food it's just that good especially the rice and chicken. The owner and staff are really kind and friendly, we are always having small conversations and the overall atmosphere of the place is calming and relaxing. It's a great place to eat out with your family or have some alone time to yourself.“

“I only get take out and have never had a totally bad meal, but was a little disappointed with my chicken wings the other day. They were a bit salty. The soup was very good though and I've had a few other items as well. I've been getting food from them for decades. They've been around a long time.“

“Everything you'd expect from a solid Chinese restaurant in New Orleans. They have all the classics and favorites, the sauces are very consistent and the service is always nice. They offer tofu dishes and let me change the sauce for variety. Delivery fee is very affordable, always arrives promptly, and they're good about following delivery instructions. I've never been disappointed, it's my go-to spot in mid city. The general tso and orange sauce is on point!
Vegetarian options: Consistently good fried tofu. I get the general tso tofu and I'm happy every time.
Dietary restrictions: Enough vegetarian and pescetarian options to get dinner for the entire group.
Parking: There are very limited parking spots on the street, some people park in the smoothie king lot but it gets really congested with people who don't know how to park.
Wheelchair accessibility: No steps to get inside, just an incline. There's a narrow hallway up to the counter.“

“I've gone here several time before. It's a good lunch spot as the food comes hot and fast. It's much like other Chinese places where the sweet sauce on Generals Chicken is good but could be the same sauce as the sweet and sour chicken or Hunan chicken. The portions are generous and they have big crunchy vegetable which I like.“
“The service is most excellent for a mall food court especially. The servers are always glad to see you and they give you free samples gladly and generously. The food offerings are about as varied as you would expect in a mall, maybe a little more. The vegetables are properly cooked, very fresh, and the servings they give you are very generous. Highly recommend.“

“Very good food and very good customer service, The food is always hot and ready. There’s a small buffet with seafood potatoes, corn, smoked sausage, and other foods , a Kitchen that makes hot orders to go. The restaurant is itself can use a bit of an updated, video poker area does not seem very family friendly , But it was hidden ,I love their chicken plate, egg rolls, and they also have a variety of drinks, If you're in New Orleans east, please try them. You won’t be disappointed.,“

“We decided to try out Chinese Kitchen Express to see what the hype was about, and it definitely delivered! We actually went inside and although it was really small it was clean and neat. There were 2 order kiosks and multiple decors pertaining to Bruce Lee. We ordered their Boneless Chicken Combo with an Egg-roll & Shrimp Fried Rice ($12.95) & their Beef and Broccoli Combination with Double Shrimp Fried Rice ($14.95). The portions were HUGE! The taste was so delicious as well. For the price, this was definitely a steal. Of course, China Doll is still on my favorites, but don’t sleep on Chinese Kitchen Express. It’s definitely worth the try!“
“If you would like a grill on the open side of the road while some one grills your food on the spot and you get friendly staff and costumers this is the place. Real Honduran food 100%. Delicious and they stay out until 10:30 or 11pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Pollo con pajamas, they also offer steak and pork chops“

“Best place ever, great food and made to order!! I have no idea what Garrett is on about, seems salty the new owners dont recognize him lol. The food is also still relatively cheap, and I dont blame them for having to rise prices due to inflation.. The portions are still HUGE so another false claim from Garrett, maybe hes just an eater. To note, I am an extremely picky eater so I assumed I would dislike the food here.. The sweet owners were able to accommodate me and I was able to get plain items I actually would enjoy eating. Also, their gyoza is amazing please try it. The atmosphere of the restaurant is kind of dingy, but please dont let that fool you! Food is still great, will be back for more gyoza!!!“

“I will never understand the bad reviews of this place, but haters are gonna hate. I have had nothing but SUPERIOR SERVICE! The dude at the counter knows his regulars by name. They are always friendly and fast. This is the neighborhood Chinese place that you want to go to every time. Love y'all!“

“Basic decor inside, but not bad at all. It was clean so wouldn't complain. The cashier who took my order wasn't very fluent in English, but did understand enough to know what I wanted and was nice. I got their lo mein and some kung po and honey chicken with chicken fried rice. It was pretty decent. Nothing special, but definately enjoyed it. Their sauces used on the fried chicken is very sweet, but not overwhelming - just right. The lo mein could use a little bit more seasoning, but I still liked it. Prices are pretty solid for the portion sizes. Would recommend.“

“This is the best pho in louisiana. Broth is perfect flavor, look at that color! They also give a lot of meat. Rice dishes are also good, I like the porkchop. Also the hidden gems are the salt and pepper calamari, salt and pepper chicken wings, and salt and pepper shrimp. The flavor for these dishes are called rang muoi in vietnamese. Service is nice and straight to the point, that’s how you know the food is good“

“This place is nestled in the heart of the black community. They are the only place opened late in the area. The service was very rude, the menu items that they offer are not actuallY reflected on the menu. There are no prices on the menu. The place smelled like roach spray. However, I went back to this restaurant with a friend about a month ago and things were much better. The food is good there and the service was much friendlier now. In my view, they have upped their game overall. I have changed my mind about this restaurant.“

“Thank god for Google because I probably would have never found this place otherwise. The portions are great and the prices are reasonable but what i really want to talk about it the food because it is probably the best chinese I have had in a long time (not kidding when i say probably about 7 years) this is that one unassuming hole in the wall place that you can definitely miss driving on the street, but you'd be missing out not going into. It has that authentic vibe where they speak chinese and have a kid there in the restaurant. The rare quality places that you really don't see anymore that I wish there was still more of. I asked for extra duck sauce, which of course they gave me no problem, but it literally felt like blasphemy putting on the food because it just was too good without it and didn't need it at all. The egg rolls are super delicious. Obviously pork and fresh and full of flavor. The boneless spare ribs were really big slices of meat and the sauce was so tasty on top of it. They do not skimp on the pork in the fried rice because they add a lot of big chunks and that was so good too. The vegetables were also fresh in it and were so nice. In fact, it was so good, I am literally writing this review stuffed thinking about when i get to dig into the leftovers and taste this scrumptious meal again. Thank you so much. It was a real treat to come grab your grub. We really enjoyed it. I hope to be back before we move out of state in a few months.“
