“Great food and atmosphere. I would highly recommend in this restaurant to anyone. Great place to go and it won’t break the bank.Parking: Pull into the parking lot and walk in, unless it’s a holiday or event, then you may need to arrive early.Kid-friendliness: There are many of high chairs in the restaurant and a kid friendly menuWheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair can be used throughout the facility“
“Don’t sleep on the molé. Especially if you know what mole is, they make it themselves. Do you know how hard it is to make mole? How much time it takes. It’s sweet and spicy and the chicken is moist and perfectly grilled. Ughhh, so good.“
“We went for early dinner. Salsa & chips were delicious. Wait staff was awesome. She checked on us when needed. Food was great. Will definitely be back.Vegetarian options: Not sure.Kid-friendliness: Kids menu as other restaurants.Parking: In strip mall with plenty of parking available.Wheelchair accessibility: Has a ramp“
“Come and enjoy the beer, shots, cocktails and Latin music!! Have so much fun with family and friends! Sarai love the way she make my drinks !!! Excellent customer service !!! ? ??? Excellente Job Pedrito!! Love to come here and had so much fun with my hubby!!“
“I keep getting the same menu item every time, but it's just so fresh! The quality here is superior to many Mexican restaurants and it justifies the higher prices (on some things). The cocktails are amazing and reasonably priced. I like having a location on the West Bank although Lakeview rocks with their beautiful outdoor/patio seating. For me, having a gluten free menu and knowledgeable staff makes all the difference, and I will continue to choose Gato Negro over any other Mexican restaurant!“
“I love this place - stumbled on it about 10 years ago when I lived in Atlanta. Moved back to NOLA and searched feverishly for it, I didn't remember the name. Driving around one day and Voila! There it was. This is the best Mexican I've had since I lived in California.“
“Things started off badly with some idiot pulling in right next to us as my companion was trying to exit from the passenger side. Then a note on the door that they no longer have a liquor license. Was expecting bad food but was pleasantly surprised. The chips and dip was good. I had a craving for rice and bean which were also good. My companion had fajitas which she thought was excellent. The people were nice and the food hit the spot. Can't complain. will return.“
“I was looking for breakfast tacos and wasn't having any luck. I stopped by here for the first time. I got the eggs and bacon platter (comes with beans, tortillas, avocado, crema, and a hard-style cheese), a goat taco, and a pupusa. Everything was really delicious, and i will be back. The staff were also very kind by providing chips and salsa as i waited for my to-go order.“
“Anyi was a GREAT server! So friendly and attentive with all smiles. The food was excellent, it is by far my favorite in all of New orleans for gorditas. The tajadas are tasty, the sauces are good, and the meat is always flavorful and perfectly cooked. They're not shy with the cheese, either“
“My husband was determined to try this place. We're california transplants, so we grew up on tacos from places where you've gotta speak Spanish to order. Personally, I dearly miss the hole in the wall mexican steam table restaurants that dish out like a panda express. All that being said, we love this place. Gives us a little taste of home that's more familiar than those super fancy taco spots around town. The food is well priced, fast and delicious. I always get a side of frijoles for my toddler and he destroys the entire order by himself.“
“As a westbank native, I have passed this place THOUSANDS of times and never tried it lol. I'm happy to report that this place is a solid taco spot. The food is fresh and budget friendly - I mean, who can beat $3 tacos, especially in this economy. I walked up to order, and I waited about 10 mins for my food so the service was quick. The ambiance is definitely a grab and go type of situation with only street parking. Overall, happy I tried them. I will be going back for a quick cheap lunch/ dinner on the go.“
“I popped in at a seemingly slow period around 3ish or so. I've been here a few times . I never really get that welcoming vibe(my experience) but the food is always Pretty Good.Anyway this day I ordered the chicken Quesadilla meal...it came with bean and rice on the side...a small portion of Guac...sour creme..tomatoes...1st off my Quesadill wasn't cut.....ok. 2nd my Chicken Quesadill was so bland it literally just looked like shredded chicken inside a tortilla....no peppers no cheese...SADCASEADILLAI FELT NO LOVE WAS PUT INTO THE MAKING OF THISILL GIVE IT A 2.9 OUT OF 5“
