“I have passed Fives multiple times, been meaning to stop in and finally did on last night w| a friend who was visiting.

We stopped by on a Tuesday, that is of course a pretty slow day in the city so it was pretty dead. We sat on the cocktail bar side and we were greeted by a super nice bartender— I can’t remember her name, but she had loads of energy!! We ordered a few oysters and they were hands downs some of the best oysters I’ve tasted. My favorites were the Mon Louis, such a great, clean taste. My drinks were extremely good. I could have sat there all night stuffing my face a drinking.

I wasn’t aware that Fives is owned by the same people who own The Columns, makes sense because food and drinks are always perfection there as well.

Fives is located in Jackson Square, prime location for tourists as it is centrally located in the Quarter. The space is limited, If you are expecting a full blown out restaurant, this isn’t the location. Fives is truly a cocktail/oyster bar. I believe I saw a total of four tables in each corner w| four chairs to each table.

This will certainly become a new spot for me to hang.“

“Bob Boudreau and I were in NOLA for 9 nights. Three of the nights we had reservations at other places with family. Our 1st night we looked up and found Jewel of the South. We loved it so much. we asked our nephew, his medical school advisor and his wife to join us. All three lived in NOLA and had never been here. All 5 of us would definitely go back in a heart beat. “Amazing food and drinks. We loved everything from the pork, fish rundown, and spectacular salads. Cocktails were great as well - pimms, and hurricane.
Kudos to the kitchen and bar. Unfortunately our waiter, David, was horrendous. He seemed annoyed by every aspect of serving our party. Everyone else at the restaurant seemed lovely, like the previous times we've dined there. Shocking someone so mismatched with the restaurant is working there“

Then I did karaoke night at Shenanigans and found out what I really sound like. It really hurts, man. I feel like I need to apologize or anyone who ever had to hear me sing. I was really bad. We had the seared scallops and it was good enough to lick the plate! Finished with a slice of key lime pie. The daiquiri was tasty as well! The staff was attentive to our needs so much so that they walked to get sprite for my husband’s favorite drink! It was a lovely way to spend our 10 year anniversary tucked away in the bar by the oyster shucker. 10/10“

“Went for the first time today, definitely won't be the last. Yes, it's a hole-in-the-wall dive bar. Yes, they smoke in here and there are cigarettes in the vending machine. It might be cash only too (my friend treated me to lunch today). If any of that bothers you- GO SOME PLACE ELSE because the boiled everything on Thursdays is WORTH IT. Turkey necks, neck bones, pig feet, smoked sausage, corn & potatoes was what they had today- all served in a styrofoam go-box in case you can't finish. Slap-ya-momma good food here. Can't really find a menu posted anywhere- it's a word-of-mouth place. I went for lunch but it gets crowded at night.

“I've been getting daiquiris from this establishment for a few months now, so here's my take.They are, without a doubt, the strongest daiquiris in the Parish. However, this unfortunately doesn't make them suitable for everyone. If you don't like them super strong, they aren't for you. But if that's your preference, enjoy as we do. You definitely get your money's worth, and the cash only option doesn't bother us at all. CVS has an ATM which is in the same parking lot.As for the atmosphere inside, we haven't spent much time inside other than to order.Truthfully, its your stereotypical dive bar, smokey, dark, and dungeon-like. Which is no different than the countless others within the state.All and all, we definitely recommend them to anyone of similar mind, especially if you want a cheap, strong drink to get your mind right after a tough day.“
