“We had an incredible experience at Grill 23 & Bar — easily the best steakhouse we’ve been to in Boston. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The food was phenomenal. We ordered both the filet mignon and the ribeye, and each steak was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and truly outstanding. The sides were just as memorable — the macaroni and cheese was rich and comforting, the Brussels sprouts were perfectly prepared, and the mashed potatoes were smooth and delicious. Adding the Béarnaise sauce on the side was absolutely worth it and paired beautifully with the steaks. Dessert was the perfect ending: warm chocolate chip cookies served with vanilla ice cream — simple, classic, and done flawlessly. A huge highlight of the evening was our waiter, Bernardo. We will absolutely be requesting him on future visits. He offered thoughtful suggestions, anticipated our needs effortlessly, and somehow managed to be there exactly when we needed him — and never when we didn’t, if that makes sense. “I got the Mac ‘N Stack with a potato salad side, the New England Clam Chowder, and a peanut butter chocolate frappe. It was so good! The potato salad and clam chowder were just like my memories from before going vegan, and the peanut butter chocolate frappe really brought me back to childhood memories. And the Mac ‘N Stack itself was good too, with the waffles with macaroni inside of them providing an enjoyable and unique textural experience, a great seitan patty, and excellent sauce.“

Craziest thing of it all is the pricing. Four slices, arancini, and a drink for $16.00? How? In today’s economy how are they keeping the price this low? Also amazing. Just go. “Everything we had was very good to incredible. Standouts were the cheddar & thyme biscuit, Nancy’s Arepa, Smoked Trout Toast, and especially the Crispy Flounder. Everything we got though was a favorite of one of us at the table. Mocktails on a Sunday night, they were incredibly thought out which is appreciated. Desserts? So good that we got multiple. Nothing was disappointing, and service was awesome. I forgot the servers name, but he was incredibly genuine, theatric and very much himself. We appreciate a server that doesn’t feel like they have to mask themselves and can provide an attentive service with a fun personality!“

“Im writing this review a couple years after dining here. I had the short rib curry and it was fantastic. It unfortunately isn't on the menu anymore. But I see the owner has a sister restaurant, chayen in watertown, that still serves it.

It was an unctuous red curry base with great fragrance from lime leaves. The dish also turned me into a fan of peas.“

The fresh falafel hummus bowls were incredible, but the service truly stood out. Even though our wait was only about 10–15 minutes, which isn't long at all for fresh food, the team was exceptionally sweet about it. The chef personally brought out our food, apologised for the wait (which wasn’t even that long) and even offered us 2 free drinks to make up for it! That level of care and generosity is so rare. I'm so glad I went in, and I’ll definitely be back regularly!“

A must order is the Tuna Collar - I've never had anything like it - it's huge, great for a crowd, bone-suckingly good (literally have done that) served with rice and nori! Also make sure you don't miss Tracy Chang's homemade nonalcoholic sparking teas - my favorites are the genmaicha and the hojicha - again I've never tasted a drink like this anywhere else. And then you have to end the night with a Basque Cheesecake - I particularly love when Pagu makes a seasonal Matcha or Ube Basque cheesecake! Pagu's dishes and drinks are across the board innovative but also welcoming and absolutely delicious!“
