“Known for their coffee, but they have very earthy and delicious matcha too, and their latte art is impressive!

Fully accessible (though seating is a bit congested, so I didn’t stay to eat).

Friendly and efficient service.

I do think, friendly advice, that the pastries would be more visually appealing with a touch of color. Everything was brown.

Maybe include a few items that naturally have some color: berries in a muffin or scone, lemon bars, seven-layer bars, macrons, etc, or decorate the case with some fresh picked herbs or flowers.

It just…everything on the counter was brown. As a baker and former cafe owner, I saw possibility :-).

The matcha with almond milk was good. I definitely would add honey next time as it was very not sweet, but it was good.

“Cacao is a small cafe located in Newton Highlands, specializing in chocolate related confectionery and drinks.

We came in during the afternoon, and it was quite busy but the staff were very accommodating and knew the menu quite well, recommending some things to try out. They had a large assortment of pre-assembled goods to buy, such as chocolate covered nuts, as well as hot chocolate mix.

We tried the hot chocolate and the dulce de leche. The portion size was reasonable for the price, and the chocolate was pretty good. The hot chocolate was made primarily of dark chocolate, which isn't my favorite, but turned out to be a good choice as it cooled down and became more rich.

Overall, a great experience and would definitely come back to try again.“

“This tiny small store in Newton Centre serves up several variations of what is now my favorite dessert - mochi donuts. As I was never a big fan of (overly) sweet delights, I've never bothered to try them despite hearing about it until recently at an event. I was truly surprised as I didn't just take a bite BUT finished the whole thing in less than a minute (once again, a pretty big feat for someone who doesn't prefer sweet treats). It wasn't overly sweet like normal donuts and the texture is far more delightful and chewy as much as it was moist. The flavors were potent and quite addicting. “Very cute! It’s more of a decor store with coffee (illy coffee specifically + tea) served. There’s some small snacks available. I got the brown butter toffee late with oatmilk it was more tart from the tide but very tasty! No places to sit but the Waban hill reservoir across the street where you can walk around.

“This was a cute neighborhood coffee shop! There was lots of great seating and the drinks were good, especially the chai latte. The service was friendly but a little slow and the prices were a little high, but overall we enjoyed sitting for a while with our drinks.“

Unsure why this chain is not entirely vegan - surely they could replace the cheese and sour cream (and egg) with vegan substitutes - but anyway I had the Mediterranean Bowl: falafels with chickpea and eggplant salad (could not identify any eggplant), pickled red cabbage and a green tart tahini dressing on the side. “Who doesn’t loveeee a great tasting ice cream served the old fashioned way … nothing fancy or trendy just great tasting ice cream served at the perfect temperature! There are so many kinds of America’s favorite dessert and JP has so many varieties both with and without lactose plus toppings that it’s heaven sent. And we are also supporting our local ice cream shop :) My favorite is the hot fudge sundae on mint chip ice cream sprinkled with Oreo chips and real whipped cream. Perfection. And there’s always a happy crowd of locals with giddy children laughing and international visitors smiling and chatting. The world is at peace over a few scoops of frozen cream…

“Thai place is great . The vibe and service is friendly and amazing . They are constantly on point with the orders . Not too bad of a wait time . I usually dine in or carry out depends on how , I am for time . The bathrooms are clean . Plenty of street meter parking or they have a lot that’s metered across the street .

“These pastries are delicious, I am not a food expert but I can tell that they might use good ingredients in the baking of their pastries and cakes. The coffee has a good flavor so that is a 10 plus.
It would be a perfect place if the seating area was cozy, what I mean is that the seats are ok but the place doesn't feel relaxing.“
