“Cacao is a small cafe located in Newton Highlands, specializing in chocolate related confectionery and drinks.

We came in during the afternoon, and it was quite busy but the staff were very accommodating and knew the menu quite well, recommending some things to try out. They had a large assortment of pre-assembled goods to buy, such as chocolate covered nuts, as well as hot chocolate mix.

We tried the hot chocolate and the dulce de leche. The portion size was reasonable for the price, and the chocolate was pretty good. The hot chocolate was made primarily of dark chocolate, which isn't my favorite, but turned out to be a good choice as it cooled down and became more rich.

Overall, a great experience and would definitely come back to try again.“

“Very cute! It’s more of a decor store with coffee (illy coffee specifically + tea) served. There’s some small snacks available. I got the brown butter toffee late with oatmilk it was more tart from the tide but very tasty! No places to sit but the Waban hill reservoir across the street where you can walk around.

Parking: Small lot around the corner but plenty of street parking.“

I ordered the Dubai chocolate donut and forgot to pick it up the next day and I messaged them on Instagram and they were kind enough to replace it for free and they even threw in an extra donut. Staff scoop quickly, Ice cream is fresh and tasty. The ice cream is on the expensive side, but is rich in flavor, a bit sweet but not overly sweet, and has a great taste.

They have soft serve options as well as yogurt available, and there are many flavors available for ice cream as well.“

The people are attentive, thoughtful, and friendly, and they look after me. The training of the barista and store management generally seem excellent, and Danielle (store manager) and Kelly (district manager) are friendly and extremely helpful and eager to talk and listen. My favorite Starbucks.“

The offerings themselves, which are varied and excellent, the staff, and the physical environment are all perfect for a quick and satisfying lunch. “Tried cake from this chain of bakery (different location,) about a month ago at a birthday party and loved it. Fast-forward to this week, when my husband's birthday falls. I picked him up the Strawberry Cream cake #3. It was a bit smaller than I expected, since I ordered the biggest & most expensive one, but...it was AMAZING! Delicious & not too sweet. I also had forgotten to bring candles to the family member's house, where we were cutting the cake, and was pleasantly surprised to see that they not only included a utensil to cut & serve the cake, but also 10 candles! The bakery itself was clean and the employees were quick and friendly. I ordered the cake a few days in advance and it was ready right on time. I would definitely order from here again and recommend them. ❤️“

“Best donuts in the area! Their donuts are incredible in flavor. They’re light, fluffy, and delicious - my kids request them every week! Our favorites are vanilla glaze, everything donut, and the Apple fritter. Sometimes they have savory tarts which are SO good. We especially love the pride donuts they have every June. Blackbird employees are always so friendly and welcoming as well, which is also appreciated. Blackbird also delivers through DoorDash, and the donuts are always delivered fresh. The Newton location does not have a bathroom, fyi but that does not detract from the amazing food! Thank you Blackbird for being such a wonderful addition to our community!“
