“Everything about this place is good: food, service, cocktails, prices, atmosphere. They basically hit on all cylinders just about every time. Everything the chef touches (possibly even looks at) is amazing. I’ve never had anything there that I didn’t like, and that includes things that I don’t like (not a fish fan, but he found a way to make me appreciate it). There are only so many compliments I can give before a review becomes unabashed, gushing adoration, so I will simply say: Try it.“

“Went there for the 1st. Time on a weeknight. I had the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. Never enjoyed a grilled cheese more! Only complaint was slow bartending. Otherwise, very nice.“

“We celebrated a birthday dinner at LIV with a group of 12, and somehow every single person agreed — the food was outstanding. Everyone raved about their meal and said they can’t wait to come back. Our server, Kelley, was excellent, and a special shoutout to Veronica’s next door for the incredible birthday cake. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and one we’d highly recommend!“

“As a member of the Boston Vegetarian Society and a vegan for over three decades, I was delighted to discover delicious vegan options on the menu at the Sun Tavern. The culinary standout, smoked tofu, surpassed expectations with its extraordinary flavors and textures, while my wife Meg's pasta dish presented a delicate balance of hearty and fresh locally grown ingredients. Celebrating our 44th anniversary in such a charming ambiance was a true treat. If you asked me 1.5 years ago, this would be an easy five stars. But having been here twice, I had two wildly different experiences. The first was perfect — the food was delectable, it was served efficiently, and the waitstaff was accommodating. However, the second time we visited most recently, the food was not near the same level of quality. Some of the dishes we loved previously had changed for worse (e.g., the fish and chips) and service was SLOW. We waited on our food for a very long time and spent hours more at dinner than we expected. Not sure what was going on, but the party I was with left not wanting to ever come back. I would give it another chance as our first experience was phenomenal, but the inconsistency did raise some concern.
I love the concept of this restaurant and the atmosphere is truly fantastic for people interested in the farm-to-table, garden style of the place — but I would need to visit again to determine whether this is truly worth the time and money, or if it was a one-time fluke.“
