“This chick had the potential to Ben epic unfortunately it fell a little short. The good, bread and sauce amazing! Fresh love dip. Had regular marinara on sandwich was was light and tomatoey really enjoyed. Chicken cutlet point breaded to perfection. Unfortunately, a little dry. Wife had meatball grinder and she felt the same way. We did go there around 4:00 p.m.. would try again. Oh fries were some of the best I've had in a while.“

“I am a huge fan of key lime pie and have sampled it at pretty much every opportunity. Each time, I find something that isn’t an A+. The crust is too grainy or crumbly, the bakery has added meringue (which I like on lemon but not lime), or—and this is the most common offender—there is entirely too much lime in the recipe. But the key lime pie I had at Caramel was exceptional in every possible way, especially in its balance of lime flavor. I didn’t try anything else there, so I can’t vouch for the macarons or other goodies, but if you love key lime pie, RUN to this bakery!“

There's also a very roomy outdoor seating area with umbrellas. With it being a five minute ride from downtown Salem, amazing staff, great pricing, and perfect atmosphere it is now a must go every time I'll be in the area. I just wish I didn't have to drive home so I could've stayed longer and tried the other slushies flavor. Aside from the slushies 1626 was my favorite.“

“It was my first time at the new location and wow it’s huge! Like the 3x the old one.

We came on a Saturday night around 10pm and it was bumping with a dj and a lively crowd.

Drinks were good and food was okay which is fine. We were going more for the drinks anyways.

We did run into a little bit of a pickle where I was charged twice a different amount (I get it. Mistakes happen!) and the manager Chris was awesome and remedied the problem quickly.

My husband and I (and our puppy, Dexter) stopped in for lunch on Wednesday and were treated to a wonderful meal with an awesome server and comfortable outdoor seating. Not a gourmet experience but better than run of the mill fast food. Eating in is a fun experience surrounded by the East Regiment Beer Company.“

“Me and my family visited Salem yesterday for a little roadtrip, we come to Salem all the time (we are from New York). My sister mentioned that we go somewhere different to have lunch/dinner. We selected on The Counter, Ashley (hostess, waitress) charmingly greeted us and we picked a table to sit. The menu was very simple and had great selections. My sister and mother got the counter salad wrap, I got the Counter Burger, my daughter 12” cheese pizza and sister in law the grilled cheese. The amount of satisfaction being whispered out of our mouths…oh my god! Everyone’s food was absolutely delicious, we all voted that this will be our food place to eat every time we come to Salem. With the amount of hospitality, Kindness and attentiveness that Ashely gave to us, she was top notch! You have one AMAZING employee at The Counter. We can wait to come back, we would love to check out Hotel Salem one day. So all in all, myself and my family give The Counter a 10 out of 10, and we give Ashley a 10 out of 10!!!!“

The menu selection for sandwiches has offerings for everyone. You can create your own sandwich with toppings of your choice.

As visitors, it was a bit hard to know where exactly to stand to place our order.

Know that this place is very busy!

Walk-in orders:
1. Online order pick ups: walk-in and pick up your order to the left of the registers
2. Express orders: far right side; ordee up to one dozen uncut bagels, cream cheese, coffee
3. Individual orders: form ONE LINE at the left hand register. Keep to the right side of the wall while queued up. You are assigned to a worker and not a specific register.

Place bagel orders first, any sandwiches, loose bagels, etc. Then they make your sandwich, then drink orders, then payment.

Seating inside may be limited. It all depends.

Parking lot holds ~18 cars; turn around may be fast. Do NOT park across the street at Salem State or you will be towed.

Highly recommend the sandwiches (lots of meat); I should have gotten the Rare Roast Beef but opted for the Sausage, Egg & Cheese breakfast sandwich. VERY large and can feed two average people or enough for those that have a big appetite.
