“Royal Taj is our go-to restaurant for special occasions, like our 20th Wedding Anniversary last week. It never fails to deliver excellence. Because it was a very special dinner, we decided to try something different. So my wife ordered the Lobster Malabar and I ordered the Grilled Halibut. Both were very good, especially the Halibut which was covered in an outstanding Corn Relish. To top off the evening our excellent server, Joshi, brought us a slice of very tasty cheesecake with a lit candle on top. As usual we cannot rave loud and often enough about Royal Taj and it is all due to the GM Binda, who is very friendly, charismatic and truly sets the tone of excellence at Royal Taj.“

“We went to Indigma this evening for restaurant week. The food was fantastic and my nine-year-old loved everything! She gave it a 1523/10 rating! Though everything was excellent, the creme brulee was the best I've ever had. Thank you for a fantastic meal!“

“These guys make very good food, and they are very eager to please. They have two menus, one with American food like pizza and burgers and fried chicken, and the other with Indian food. Personally I like their non-curry dishes. It is quite spicy and never bland. Tonight I had the chicken thigh dinner which was very soft and spicy. It was fantastic. They also seemed to have invested a good amount of money into this place. Nice quality interior and good parking outside. The owner and the hostess both came to the table personally and asked us about how the food tastes. These people really care.“

“Our takeout was absolutely delicious. The samosa order has four in the order and comes with nice sauces. The Malai kofta and vegetable korma were nicely spiced and generously portioned. We asked for mildly spicy and they did a good job spicing it. We'll probably order it spicy next time. Yay!“

I was asked if I had a reservation when I walked in-I didn't and asked if I was out of luck. They did have some open tables but I was picking up. Quite around 5:30. Based on the friendly staff's recommendation, ordered Tikki Chaat, Mixed Veggie Pakodas and Trini Doubles. All 3 were Vegan and delicious with complex spices/flavors- the Pakodas are also Gluten free. If I had to choose a favorite it would be the Chaat-Potato Patties dipped in curried chutney with just the right amount of spicy. Service was exceptional with a high level of patience for answering my questions and providing recommendations. Picked up a bit by 6. Will be back for dinner. If in Hampden, make this stop!“

“Been here twice, once was years ago pre-pandemic and it was fabulous. We said we should come back here more often but never did… then the pandemic messed everything up and we went travel nursing. Now we’re back in town again… AND ITS STILL AMAZING. I got a jalfrezi, and hubby got tikka masala. The medium felt like a true medium, not whitewashed. Service was lovely. We were one of two couples who dined in, but looks like they have a busy takeout business. So glad they didn’t disappear in the pandemic like so many other places! “I really enjoyed the food I had, starting with the vegetable samosa, and for my meal, I had the lamb shahi korma. I took an order of the butter chicken home with me. I also had the butter naan and a mango lassi with my meal. I really enjoy Indian food and this location is very convenient and close to my home. I ordered the family package with vegetarian Biryani, which included raita, salan, plain rice, naam, and chicken curry. We got our order and it was missing the salan. I called the restaurant and got the weirdest explanation. “It’s a very small container. They make a large container and if it runs out. But it’s just a small container of peanut sauce.” I don’t care what the size of the container is, it’s advertised as a package and I expect everything in the order.“

Special occasions when the mood is right, we go to the ambassador for that special taste of Indian cuisine. I’ve been going to the ambassador for the last 20 years. Owned by the Singh family, overall their food surpasses what we have had at several other Indian/Pakistani restaurants in the area in taste and price.Service is excellent and very friendly. Their chicken tikka masala is the best. Vegetarians need not worry as their have a copious selection of vegetarian dishes and delicious breads. Photos show the chicken tikka and the vegetable korma as well the papadam bread made from lentil flour and comes with three delicious chutneys. “Service was on point even though I was the only one here. Lamb biryani was an explosion of flavor. I ordered it spicy and they delivered. Had me tearing up, but it cleared out all of my sinuses. The chicken korma was well balanced between spice and richness, but the nutty flavor was not as prominent. Raita, mint chutney, and Tamarind chutney were all divine. Wine by the glass did not seem over-priced compared to trend I've been seeing at other places, and it was a generous quantity that lasted through the meal. Restaurant interior is nicely decorated and feels very cozy at the same time, though they look ready to handle a crowd. I'm glad that they have avoided putting up any large TV screens, which can spoil dining out rather than provide a distraction, in my opinion.“
