“When I first moved to Capitol Heights, I assumed that I would have to travel far for vegetarian/vegan food or make it myself. And how surprised was I that there was a vegan restaurant down the road! Each day the menu changes, so you could have a favorite every day of the week. And the portions! You can make SEVERAL meals out of one dinner. Is it cheap? NOPE! But something that's good for your body AND soul shouldn't be.”

“I love this place. Fell in love with it on my first visit. They have a fire chicken Parmesan sandwich. Very nice elderly Asian couple run the place. It was a pleasure to eat my food and their restaurant. I’m marking this place on the map for when I come back through town again. I know where to get a good chicken Parm sandwich.”

“This is a local hidden gem! This is a carryout so you can not eat in. But when I tell you the food is delicious... it's delicious. This is one on those place you go to when you want to feel like you're eating home cooked food. I always go for the breakfast and it never disappoints. Jenny, the owner, is so kind and if you order from there more than once SHE REMEMBERS YOU!! Now that is the type of costumer service you want to get when you spending your coins! I definitely recommend this place. It's well worth the money!”

“The new Lucky star Chinese restaurant is a step above the average neighborhood Asian bistro. The Hunan shrimp was decent, with tons of fresh veggies and the portions were more than adequate. The kitchen was open, and the staff was very pleasant. While it’s not amazing. It does fit into the very good category. It makes it a perfect choice for a quick meal with family or friends. Note: please allow time for preparation on calling orders. It could be quite busy.”

“Not gonna lie .. I’ve been reluctant on trying the food from this place for awhile now .. I’ve been living in this area of the dmv now for about almost 5 years now .. but long story short the vibe in this place is dope .. the customer service is great as well .. after I read some reviews I decided to try to combo Baltimore style yakmein .. and imma be honest I DO NOT understand the hype .. I don’t know if what I received is how it’s supposed to taste but it was OKAY .. I believe ordering it spicy probably would fill in for what it’s missing taste wise .. but overall that meal was cooked well .. I’m eager to the their Baltimore style yakmein options that do not have noddles .. I think the sauce and your choice of protein over rice is probably the better option for that type of cooking and flavoring .. I also ordered a steak and cheese egg roll .. I feel the egg roll was cooked too hard and lacked cheese within it .. it was kinda dry ., overall it wasn’t too bad .. and then lastly I ordered a shrimp fried rice lunch special .. to be honest I’ve had way better fried rice from other places but the way they make it here is okay .. not bad but will get you through a long day of starving if you’re down bad and can’t find another spot to get you out the way .. overall I do not think this places makes bad food even though my first experience wasn’t how I anticipated .. but I’m willing to give them more chances by experimenting with some of their menu items that are sort of unorthodox and unusual to be on at a Chinese carryout .. overall I wasn’t too pleased with my meal but it was okay .. I feel like place has some hidden gems an I cannot wait to figure out what other menu items are great ! It’s like I can tell this place has more to offer but I don’t know what to get yet ! My whole point about this review is please do not believe the hype .. everything is not what it seems with reviews .. if you want a real answer sometimes you have to take the risk and figure it out for yourself !”

This spot is one of the best little hole-in-the-wall gems you’ll find. Everything is cooked fresh to order, and baby… it shows. The French toast? 🔥 The bacon? Perfect. The salmon cakes? Don’t even get me started. And the grits are EVERYTHING.
What really makes it special though is the people. The staff is so friendly and welcoming—they actually take the time to get to know you. Come in a couple times and they’ll remember your order and how you like it. That kind of service is rare these days.
