“Came here because Tasty 68 was closed for renovations, a little hesitant from the 1 star reviews, but we were really pleasantly surprised!

The food was excellent. Maybe even better than Tasty 68? We ordered the sha cha steak, shredded pork, and Mongolian lamb. Everything was cooked perfectly with crisp juicy veggies and tender meats.

It’s very much a Chinese American restaurant, but there were more than the usual basics on the menu and the people working there are Chinese.

Service was also prompt and great. We put in our orders, got waters and tea, refills, food, and the bill all quickly when asked.

“We come here about every couple of weeks, and it all started after our very first visit — we’ve been craving their fish ever since. The fish is always incredibly fresh, and that’s the main reason we keep coming back.

The owner and the staff are genuinely warm and welcoming, which makes every visit feel comfortable and familiar. We really appreciate how accommodating they are, especially when we ask to set some fish aside without spice for our kids who can’t handle spicy food yet. They’re always happy to help.

The service staff was attentive, friendly, professional, and welcoming. He also didn't come to bother us like many white restaurants do. “Peter Changs is our favorite Chinese take out. We ordered the “GuoBao” sweet sour flounder. It’s usually very good. This time there was barely any sauce. Maybe it was an off night. We also ordered the spicy dry fried bamboo fish. The cumin gives it a slight curry flavor but it’s very good! We love it. The egg scallion fried rice is a good pairing.“

“My husband and I love this place. We go there at least once a week. Over the years we have discovered our favorite items and they are always good. My husband's favorites are: Pepper Steak, Moo Goo Gai Pan, Beef or Pork with Chinese Vegetables, and Egg Foo Young. My favorites are: Cashew Chicken, Orange Chicken, Moo Shu Pork, Pork Lo Mein, and Hot Sour Soup. There are still items on their menu I want to try. They have lunch specials Monday thru Saturday from 11:00 - 3:00. For 99 cents you can add an egg roll or soup to your lunch special. They are closed on Tuesdays.“

Still, after all this time, this is the only Chinese place in the area that I will order from, after sampling many in the area (Frederick/MoCo). They have the best hot and sour soup in the area. Actually flavorful. The cream cheese wontons are different, not as crispy as you would expect, but the flavor is great. veggies are always fresh and crunchy, never overcooked. Both the more traditional dishes and the Americanized dishes have great flavors. Food is always ready fast.“

Crispy beef - It is thinly sliced and the beef is dry. However, we like to order it because of the crunchy texture and the sweet and spicy flavor.

But today I ordered the singnapore noodles with shrimp and I put non spicy and it was a little too spicy for me, but it was still good, I just prefer less spice. “I have nothing but good things to say about Gourmet Asian Bistro (7224 Muncaster Mill Rd, Derwood, MD 20855). It offers Chinese, Thai, and sushi. I've eaten there 3 times in the past 2 weeks, and it's been excellent every time and affordable! The vegetable tofu soup ($2.95) is huge, satisfying, and full of veggies. The wonton soup ($2.95) has 3 good sized wontons. Both soups come with a bowl of tastier-than-average fried wonton strips on the side that I end up munching on during the entire meal. The sizzling black pepper beef ($16.95?) was tasty, but I was more impressed by the noodle dishes. The beef chow fun ($14.95?) and the Singapore mei fun ($13.95) were beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly. I've also gotten the salmon nigiri ($5.95?) a couple times, and it's generously portioned and fresh with great quality salmon. Every meal ends with a complimentary tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream and fortune cookie. “The shrimp with broccli is really good, no need to add soy sauce at all! I always get it a lil spicy, it gives it a kick! The wings are really good too and not all hormone injected looking!🤣! They just need to make their mumbo sauce a lil thicker and flavorful, its a bit watery! Overall their food is on point! The fried rice is good as well!

“I’ve been ordering here for a few years now and I’m extremely loyal to this place. I work in the outlets and delivery time is always SO fast! Even during busy times it’s still faster than other places. I’m a creature of habit so I always order the chicken and broccoli and it’s always a hit. Portion sizes are awesome too. I’ve gotten all of my employees onto here, and my husband always enjoys when I pick this up for dinner on occasion. The staff are always friendly any time I’ve gone in to pick up my food, and the guy who always delivers is so nice too. Everything that hit the table was fresh, flavorful, balanced, not oily, not overly spicy… just right. So good I even ordered Chinese donuts to-go because my emotional attachment developed very quickly.

Now here’s the miracle:
Every American-style Chinese place I’ve eaten at over the years has sent my stomach straight into panic mode. Like—eat, smile, pretend everything is fine, then sprint to the bathroom. But Asia Café?? ZERO issues. NONE. My stomach was calm, happy, and practically clapping. I even took leftovers home like a proud parent.

And the owner… honestly, she made the visit even better. Sweet, friendly, fast, and so real. We chatted with her, and she explained her whole philosophy in the most iconic line ever:

“We make everything fresh. It’s more work every day… but we are NOT lazy!”

I LOVE HER.
That told me everything I needed to know about why the food tastes the way it does.

She even offered to refill my rice for free AND gave us the soup for free. You just don’t see service or heart like that anymore.

Asia Café, I am officially obsessed. I’m coming back. I’m bringing friends. I’m bringing family. I might even bring random strangers. This place is that good.
