“This is my favorite Chinese place in the area. Food is always super good, and I always look forward to when we get it for take out. I have also eaten in the actual restaurant a few times, and it has always been a nice meal. I personally highly recommend the steamed dumplings and the combo lo mein, this place has the best of the best!!“

“The fish soup was flavorful, and the portion size was generous. I also liked that you can do a half-and-half soup with both fish and beef if you want to try both.

There are plenty of side dishes to choose from, and the cucumber was refreshing. The sticky rice cake and the spicy sour noodles were just okay and didn't stand out compared to the soup.

The seating area is fairly small, so it's not the best choice for larger groups, though we had no trouble walking in without a reservation. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the whole experience smooth. I'd definitely come back for the fish soup.“

“Great authentic Chinese noodle shop will definitely come back again. Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon very hungry after a morning of kayaking. Enjoyed of bowl of M1 dry pork noodles. Really amazing and authentic taste- the flavors take me back noodle shops in China I’ve visited. A perfect balance of umami, sweet, numbing, salty and crunch of fresh cucumbers. As a gluten sensitive eater I also appreciated that all their noodle dishes use rice noodles.“

“The shrimp with broccli is really good, no need to add soy sauce at all! I always get it a lil spicy, it gives it a kick! The wings are really good too and not all hormone injected looking!🤣! They just need to make their mumbo sauce a lil thicker and flavorful, its a bit watery! Overall their food is on point! The fried rice is good as well!

“Our go to affordable Chinese takeout. They don’t skimp on the food and always fill it to the brim. We always order their pork fried rice, chefs delight, and fried dumplings.
This time we ordered their crispy beef and salt & pepper fish.
Crispy beef - It is thinly sliced and the beef is dry. However, we like to order it because of the crunchy texture and the sweet and spicy flavor.

Salt & pepper fish- Well fried and not oily. It has a very good mild jalapeño flavor.

“The staff here is extremely polite and helpful. I was greeted by Labrell who is extremely nice and helpful. He helped me and another couple get set up with the wonder app and gave recommendations on which foods to try. I highly recommend the wonder Reston location and if you get a chance to meet Labrell he will put a smile on your face and brighten your day!!“

“This place has the most authentic Shanghai food in DMV. Well if you argue it should be from your mom's kitchen then you win. I am just comparing this with Shanghai Taste and Bob66. (Shanghai lounge and Nanxiang has nothing to do with Shanghai food from my humble opinion.)
Back to the business. If you are fine with any dishes being sweet then I suggest give everything a try. Something you may find weird, but it is just how things are done in Shanghai. If you want something salty you can get Fuzhu 腐竹 or Moyu魔芋， both are nice cold dishes. But I still suggest Kaofu 烤麸, Lajiang 辣酱 and Ribs小排 even you don't have sweet teeth. Meatball 狮子头 are nice to try as well, and Shenjian生煎 is a must try - I served Shenjian to my parents who still live in Shanghai when they came and they gave a positive feedback.“

“I have nothing but good things to say about Gourmet Asian Bistro (7224 Muncaster Mill Rd, Derwood, MD 20855). It offers Chinese, Thai, and sushi. I've eaten there 3 times in the past 2 weeks, and it's been excellent every time and affordable! The vegetable tofu soup ($2.95) is huge, satisfying, and full of veggies. The wonton soup ($2.95) has 3 good sized wontons. Both soups come with a bowl of tastier-than-average fried wonton strips on the side that I end up munching on during the entire meal. The sizzling black pepper beef ($16.95?) was tasty, but I was more impressed by the noodle dishes. The beef chow fun ($14.95?) and the Singapore mei fun ($13.95) were beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly. I've also gotten the salmon nigiri ($5.95?) a couple times, and it's generously portioned and fresh with great quality salmon. Every meal ends with a complimentary tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream and fortune cookie. There are plenty of good Chinese restaurants in MoCo, but Gourmet Asian Bistro is my current favorite for best flavor and value.“

Still, after all this time, this is the only Chinese place in the area that I will order from, after sampling many in the area (Frederick/MoCo). They have the best hot and sour soup in the area. Actually flavorful. The cream cheese wontons are different, not as crispy as you would expect, but the flavor is great. veggies are always fresh and crunchy, never overcooked. Both the more traditional dishes and the Americanized dishes have great flavors. Food is always ready fast.“

“This is a hole-in-the-wall style Chinese restaurant. My son & I stopped by here while coming back from a sports event & we found it on a whim. We both loved the food & think it’s a hidden gem. The prices are very reasonable too. It’s meant for just take-out, so there’s no bathroom, but they do have one small table, which we ate at. “Super happy with their Walnut Shrimp dish! It is the dish that is easily made with too much sauce, but House of Fortune makes it wtih the perfect amount of sauce and broccoli that I'm craving for more! The broccoli is lightly cooked, is fresh, and has a light crunch. The walnuts are perfectly glazed and crunchy. I took a picture of the food after I already ate two bites!

I have tried Walnut Shrimp from the surrounding restaurants and I like House of Fortune's the best.
