“Peter Changs is our favorite Chinese take out. We ordered the “GuoBao” sweet sour flounder. It’s usually very good. This time there was barely any sauce. Maybe it was an off night. We also ordered the spicy dry fried bamboo fish. The cumin gives it a slight curry flavor but it’s very good! We love it. The egg scallion fried rice is a good pairing.“

“Our go to affordable Chinese takeout. They don’t skimp on the food and always fill it to the brim. We always order their pork fried rice, chefs delight, and fried dumplings.
This time we ordered their crispy beef and salt & pepper fish.
Crispy beef - It is thinly sliced and the beef is dry. However, we like to order it because of the crunchy texture and the sweet and spicy flavor.
Salt & pepper fish- Well fried and not oily. It has a very good mild jalapeño flavor.

“Every single time I have ordered from this establishment, the food has been excellent. Always hot, best fried rice I've tasted in a long time that doesn't taste like grease where other Chinese restaurants in Germantown it seemed to literally their fried rice just wants to slide down my throat that's disgusting.

“This place has the most authentic Shanghai food in DMV. Well if you argue it should be from your mom's kitchen then you win. I am just comparing this with Shanghai Taste and Bob66. (Shanghai lounge and Nanxiang has nothing to do with Shanghai food from my humble opinion.)
Back to the business. If you are fine with any dishes being sweet then I suggest give everything a try. Something you may find weird, but it is just how things are done in Shanghai. If you want something salty you can get Fuzhu 腐竹 or Moyu魔芋， both are nice cold dishes. But I still suggest Kaofu 烤麸, Lajiang 辣酱 and Ribs小排 even you don't have sweet teeth. Meatball 狮子头 are nice to try as well, and Shenjian生煎 is a must try - I served Shenjian to my parents who still live in Shanghai when they came and they gave a positive feedback.“

“Ok so I have had the shrimp with brocolli and white rice a few times which was really good. But today I ordered the singnapore noodles with shrimp and I put non spicy and it was a little too spicy for me, but it was still good, I just prefer less spice. The spring roll or egg roll was so delicious and crunchy. The cheesecake was horrible and frozen. I couldn't even eat it. I shouldv'e maybe ordered the vanilla cake.“

“The shrimp with broccli is really good, no need to add soy sauce at all! I always get it a lil spicy, it gives it a kick! The wings are really good too and not all hormone injected looking!🤣! They just need to make their mumbo sauce a lil thicker and flavorful, its a bit watery! Overall their food is on point! The fried rice is good as well!

“Super happy with their Walnut Shrimp dish! It is the dish that is easily made with too much sauce, but House of Fortune makes it wtih the perfect amount of sauce and broccoli that I'm craving for more! The broccoli is lightly cooked, is fresh, and has a light crunch. The walnuts are perfectly glazed and crunchy. I took a picture of the food after I already ate two bites!
I have tried Walnut Shrimp from the surrounding restaurants and I like House of Fortune's the best.

“There were many free parking spaces on the front. The door required a strong pull to open (originally I thought it was closed until I followed someone in). It did offer a few indoor seatings, but I ordered three lunch combinations to go. Given the location and prices, it was great for our quick lunch. The shrimp chow mein came with lots of ingredients. I don’t understand some of the reviews saying about being pressured for a higher tip and rudeness of staff did not experience anything like that. “Came here because Tasty 68 was closed for renovations, a little hesitant from the 1 star reviews, but we were really pleasantly surprised!
The food was excellent. Maybe even better than Tasty 68? We ordered the sha cha steak, shredded pork, and Mongolian lamb. Everything was cooked perfectly with crisp juicy veggies and tender meats.
It’s very much a Chinese American restaurant, but there were more than the usual basics on the menu and the people working there are Chinese.
Service was also prompt and great. We put in our orders, got waters and tea, refills, food, and the bill all quickly when asked.
We’ll be back for sure!“
