“250828 - By the time we reached Sparks, the muffins had begun to take effect; we were low on fuel, having come off the highway, aware wet were close to ‘Empty’ in unfamiliar country. Nervously looking for a gas station, ambling along our way back to Canada after a week in the capital. Some said we were brave to visit, we never minded, soaked it all in, we were just there to check on our American cousins, see how y’all were making out in a rather turbulent time. Loved the rolling countryside and gorgeous homes in the area - hmmm…a preserve of the ‘horsie set?’ we thought. Now, even lower on fuel, we caught the sign and stopped at TFS. We surveyed the place, quirky storefront and round the back which felt surprisingly, decidedly chill. Straightaway, we struck up a conversation with a friendly physical therapist, because we’re that kind of chatty. Had a spontaneous, lovely and wide-ranging chat including the whole family. A delicious milkshake, I think a cookie, and couple washroom breaks later, our new friend sent us on our way to the Exxon down the way and a nearby turnoff to get us back en route to the north land. Felt really good to meet a kind helpful soul along the way, the kind of people we wanted to show the kids, and we somehow knew we would certainly meet on our drive into NY, PA, MD, VA, DC. Now back in the land of the silver birch, home of Lord Stanley’s sport and the ‘double-double,’ I am just reading about your late friend Rosa and how much she’d touched you all and your beloved TFS :) Nice lil place. “Fantastic coffee, sandwiches, and pastries. Everyone here is always really friendly and helpful. Their outdoor seating almost always has a table available, and is also covered which I appreciate.
This is a great place for bike repairs as well, I think their specialty is road bikes but they're very knowledgeable about all different types and carry pretty much anything you would need for maintenance. I've come here a couple times for spindles and tubes for my mountain bikes and they've always had what I needed, and for a reasonable price.
All in all one of my favorite local spots, I love this place and the people who work here are great.“

“I absolutely ADORE this place. I am there at least 4x’s week. The place is clean & food is always fresh but…The service alone is always amazing! They make you feel welcomed. No matter the time of day or how extremely busy they can get. I’ve been there a few times when it just wasn’t a good day for me but they always seem to put a smile on my face just by being welcoming. “It’s a pretty good Starbucks. It’s usually very busy during the week because it’s so small and on Loyola’s campus, so the wait for a drink can be up to an hour in the morning. Workers are all very friendly and it’s definitely a big social space on campus. I’ve also heard it’s the highest grossing Starbucks in the region.“

I believe this Starbucks has been here for years and is right next to the main humanities building on Loyola campus. It’s on the other side of the quad (open grass area) from the chapel.

This is inside an academic building and was open on Sunday morning. I got a nice warm chocolate croissant (not part of my diet 😬) and my favorite which is a “Dirty Iced Matcha”. It’s a grande iced matcha with a shot of blonde roast espresso. Kind of has a little bit of cigarette taste but in the best possible nostalgic way! Weird but amazing.

Wheelchair accessibility: If you’re coming in from the center of campus the theater arts building has an automatic entrance and it’s right down the hallway from there.“

With what trepidation did we order this unknown beverage! What would it be like? Good or bad? And where do new flavors COME FROM? “I’m from New York. I lived near a deli that made the absolute best egg sandwiches. Needless to say I was a big fan. I went to Roby’s and the gentleman at the front desk was very polite. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and lo and behold the taste was excellent just like my New York Deli!
The sandwich was a bit small and only had one egg, but the taste is what matters and next time, which there will be, I’ll order two eggs.
