We had the spicy miso based ramen with chicken katsu, the volcano base ramen with bulgogi, the chicken katsu curry rice and a Phoenix Special Roll. “This place is an 8.5 or 9 out of 10 but it's better than the sun of its parts. We ordered a good selection of food and it was all good. The ambiance was good, chill, the service was prompt and attentive. Presentation was immaculate. The fish was really spectacular and tasted great. Soft, beautifully sliced, and no sticky slimy to be felt. Can especially recommend the white Flint roll, very creative blend of flavors and textures. The only complaint is that the nigiri construction could be better. It was too little rice to the point where the fish to rice ratio felt skewed and the necessary support under the fish was not present. There was also no adhesion of fish to rice, leading to the nigiri falling apart often. Maybe a small dab of wasabi or slightly stickier rice will remedy the problem. Still a great sushi restaurant and worth a visit.“

“Wow! Was expecting just a take-out container with three pieces of relatively boring fish -- salmon, tuna, one piece of a white fish. Instead I got a whole interesting assortment, including octupus, what I think was abalone, and lots more. Not to mention that the salmon was terrific! I also got the spicy tuna appetizer, which was very interesting. I'll probably order something else next time (and there *will* be a next time, and a time after that!), but it was quite original and creative -- haven't had anything quite like that before. “For 20 years, the staff here has been wonderful to my family, whether we're dining in or taking out. We keep coming back because they are so reliable and the food tastes great. “My daughter loves the steamed shrimp shumai so it was eaten in 2 seconds from being unpacked and I didn’t get a pic. The salmon & Ikura sashimi tasted fresh. The Ikura was eaten too fast so no pic but the portion size appeared modest while the thick cut slices of the salmon sashimi is generously cut.The yellowtail jalapeño appetizer is a nice portion for the price but the sauce is too spicy for me but diluting it with soy sauce helps.The folks working here are kind and professional. The dining room is kept clean but not inviting to relax and eat. I prefer to get my orders to go or eat quick and go. I’m glad they’re in the neighborhood!“

“We order pick up 2-3 times a month here. The tempura shrimp appetizer always comes hot and crunchy. The sizes of fish in their hand rolls are generous. This place is technically located inside Kusshi Sushi, so you would just be seated regularly there and can order food off their menu. For Donburi Dojo and Ramen House, the food items are listed on the Silver Spring online menu (but you can still order them here at the Bethesda location!). I ordered a pork katsu don. It blew me away with how good it was and totally surpassed my expectations. All of the katsu pieces were cooked well and mixed great with the egg and onions. The sauce was my favorite part because of how flavorful it was, ultimately creating a slightly sweet dish that completely hit the spot for me. It's easily the best katsu don that I've had in the DMV area!“

After moving away 30 years ago, we found ourselves back in Germantown again and decided to see if it was still the same. I'm happy to say is it still as PHENOMENAL as ever!!! Again, by far the best sushi in Germantown, and quite possibly the best in the DC metro area! For reference, I was stationed in Japan for a year in the military and while I don't profess to be an expert, I definitely know good sushi. “I saw the good reviews so I went to try. We got a tuna roll and a veggie roll. We came a little after lunch so some choices we wanted were sold out. The tuna roll was 10/10. My wife picked veggie roll. I would never order that, but it was also 10/10. It was as good as my tuna roll. So fresh and chilled how I like. The owner was working hard, and he apologized that our preferences were not available. He was very polite and friendly and the kind of person you believe is honest and clean/sanitary. 5/5 is the correct rating because the price is fair, you don't have to tip, and the quality is high.
