“Went there this past weekend and tried them for the first time!!! Was greeted soon as I walked in. A tough bag lady that was waiting for her order said I had to try the seafood Mac and cheese and she wasn’t wrong. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 The good brother running the store also let me try a few other sides. All were amazing so I had to choose but I wanted to try all of them. I got the vegan drumettes, with the vegan ribs, seafood Mac and cheese and the collard greens. All tasted AMAZING!!!! I also ordered the mint tea and the ginger tea. Amazing. This was the Newark, De location on Main Street. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks for hospitality and the great food.“

“There's a reason Rose Ave usually has a line out the door. This is one of the best bakeries in DC, with a somewhat limited selection compared to other bakeries. They have one of the best breakfast sandwiches in the city, egg and cheese on a garlic croissant type roll. Super rich and will definitely leave your hands covered in butter. The ube kouign amann is incredible and the donuts are both delicious and unique. They have great coffee and a small selection of cakes and slices of cake as well.“

“I will always seek out a Levain! Their gluten free, vegan chocolate chip with walnuts is incredible. The chocolate melts in your mouth, no matter how long these cookies have been at room temp. It’s small inside the store so just don’t plan on having room to sift down inside.“

“It was my first time going to this place , the staff can try to be more welcoming and pleaseant and help they clients to order , I had to take my mask off to speak and let them know what i wanted and as i was ordering I felt like i was being rushed to order , the food was tasting but tge owner needs to change the way the food is charged , I was charge for each separate item this is not a place where you order yourself a complete meal for a full charge , the food was delicious but I would not go back and another turn off in the bakery area they had flies around the sweet bread .“

“I can't believe that I have lived here for nearly 20 years, walked past this place many times, and just discovered it several weeks ago. WOW! The pastries and, cakes, muffins and croissants are excellent. Their homemade jams are wonderful. Their breads, quite yummy! I love their iced coffee , which has s a very subtle taste of cocoa. And, I am a very picky coffee snob. Service is sometimes a little chaotic, but the staff is super friendly. Weekend mornings are insanely busy- a reflection of how good they are. Amazing, spacious outdoor seating! LOVE this place.“

“Adorable little bakery tucked into an alleyway in Union Market. They're in the middle of the alley and impossible to spot (unless, as there often is, there's a line out the door), so it can feel a little sketchy to walk aimlessly through a random alleyway, but Bread Alley makes the walk super cute with a lovely string of arrows pointing you to their gorgeous black brick and wooden storefront.

They don't have a full-time cashier, so if you get to Bread Alley during one of their off-peak hours, you have to knock or ring the bell and wait for one of their bakers to come open the door for you. Once they do, you'll be welcomed into a cozy little shopping area with just a cash register, small pastry case (which just includes a few exemplary pastries -- the rest are in the back), and a wall of various types of bread. I didn't end up grabbing one of their breads, but I'll definitely have to make my way back for them; the harissa black sesame sourdough looked incredibly enticing, but I just, unfortunately, didn't have a need for a full loaf of bread at the time. However, I was in the mood for a sweet treat and decided to get a classic pain au chocolat. They don't have an indoor seating space, given their relatively barebones front-end, so I just ate my croissant as I walked home. It was a beautiful croissant, with a gorgeous lamination inside and nice glossy finish. It was a smidge too doughy for my taste, as I generally prefer really light and airy croissants, but it was still delicious.“

“The first time I went to Levain Bakery ... I was in the Georgetown location, and I was concerned that this spot wouldn't be as good because you know, how could it be?

But let me tell you the Levain Bakery skills transfer ... These people can bake... I have never had a cookie like this... they are sooo delicious 🍪👩🏾‍🍳... I wish we had one of these in my town. The cookie is almost as big as a biscuit and the chocolate chip to cookie ratio is unbelievable.... It's quite amazing. I will never be afraid to walk into this store, no matter the location... “I loved going here and the employees were so nice. I am gluten free and ate the cupcakes. One of the employees showed me everything they make that’s gluten free daily and what they can make upon request. I am partial to the gluten free chocolate cupcake but the vanilla was good too!“

“The beignets are made fresh to order. We ordered two orders ( 3 per order) of the powdered sugar beignets and they were ??. We tried the vanilla, strawberry, and raspberry sauces and they made the beignets even better. The vanilla puts you in the mind of a cinnamon roll frosting but better. Beware the powdered sugar beignets can get MESSY so don’t eat them in your car……

The staff were very friendly.

Only downside I there isn’t much seating.
