“True to description, it's a cafeteria in a church basement served by nice ladies. The portions are beyond generous for the price. I got a ribs meal for 15 bucks that's a good two BIG meals for me.Ribs were so good, meat just falling off the bone. Enjoyed the yams and the greens too. Didn't have a line when I went there at 11:30 on a weekday.Recommend for soul food on the area.“

“My mom and I traveled from North Carolina. I googled for soul food and read the reviews for Suga & Spice. The service was good and fast. The food was Amazing. If you like your food spicy. Please show them some love. I ate my leftoverchicken cold on the drive home and it was still delicious. My mom is a picky eater and rather eat at home. She was completely satisfied with her meal.Parking: Parking is behind the building make sure you read the signs. The lot is shared“

“I picked up food from here on a Sunday. Their website and Google shows an open time of 11:30 but when I called the restaurant to verify I was told they don't open until 12:00.Luckily I was able to place my order through their website at 11:40 for a 12:00 pick up. When I arrived at 12:05 the young lady told me that they had just opened up at noon and my order would be ready soon.Everything in my order was hot and fresh. I just recommend that the owner get the opening time corrected for their website and on Google maps.“

“I recently moved walking distance from here and I’m so happy I’ve found an authentic , good Jamaican spot! The staff is friendly, they have what’s on the menu unlike a lot of Jamaican spots ( which is a well known thing ?) . It’s clean, service is great and food is hot and great tasting!“

“ITS ABOUT TIME!! Finally a restaurant that cooks real food and offers great customer service. I ordered smothered pork chops, mash potatoes and greens. The greens and sweet cornbread are better than mine I hate to admit ?. The other dishes were giving restaurant quality. But still tasty. ?I also ordered cobbler….. I’ll update when I taste it. To full lol.All these other so called soul food places needs to pack it up. ?This is it. I’m so glad to add this to my list.“

“I had their food several times in the past before they got the store location. I went to the store for the 1st time and I had an issue with my food. I called the store as soon as I got home and spoke with the supervisor on duty. I was just calling to let them know the issue so they can be aware and not let it happen to another customer. The supervisor asked me for pictures of my order and called me back to apologize. I wasn’t expecting anything from them. I was asked to bring the food back and let them make me something else but I told her I would just take the loss since I wasn’t willing to drive back out there. But the supervisor told me she would give me a credit for my next visit. She handled everything very professionally. And I will be going back to support their business. We have issues at a lot of establishments but go back and spend our money so I will be going back to spend my money and support their establishment. Thank you for handling my concern very professionally and being nice.“

“Fish king is literally a hidden gem in NE. It’s quality brunch food for way less of price you would pay in the city. I go here most Saturday I don’t feel like cooking breakfast. Quick and easy service, call ahead makes your order so much faster.“

“This is my first time coming to this location. My boyfriend wanted some good potato salad and found this place. I do agree that the potato salad was very delicious! Flavors were very satisfying! I also ordered the quarter leg fried chicken with gravy and the onions and peppers added to the protein. The gravy was a great addition that added extra flavor to the chicken. Last the 4cheese Mac and cheese was a great addition to complete the meal. I would definitely recommend this place. And will be coming back soon.“

“My work had the Truck come so everyone could order their own lunches. First off, the “truck guys” were amazing, they were friendly and informative on top of getting my food out quickly. Second, some coworkers felt the fried fish was a little heavy on the breading for their taste, but I loved the coleslaw and the Shrab mixture is very good.“

“The hubby and I went yesterday. We're back today. First, the food is made fresh to order, so if you're in a rush don't go. We had 3 meat over rice. It was good. The gizzards were hot and seasoned well plus they reheat good. It's definitely a good spot to pick up and go.“

I had what I thought were ribs ( I'd forgotten it serves vegetarian food ) and under the yummy barbecue sauce, surprise! Something like a croquette but made of beans. The only issue is that we realized later that there are 2 locations, U Street does not offer seating, the other locations does. We had to take our food back to our Air BnB. Wanted the whole dinning experience but the good quality of the food made up for it. So good, we went back for a plate on our way back out of town.Only drawback: no seating areaVegetarian options: offered several non-meat option sides: macaroni and cheese, yams, fried oktra. “I moved from NYC to DC and I brought my food snob attitude. Then I stumbled across Open Crumb and expectations were low. To my surprise, I had the best meal I've had all year (including NYC restaurants). The Red Red is a perfect blend of spices and balance between sweet and savory. I've taken food to other friends in DC and they loved the peanut soup with chicken (more like gravy than soup and good over rice). Don't overlook this DC gem!“
