“Johana made our experience at First Watch exceptional. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind from the moment we sat down. She checked on us at just the right times, made great recommendations, and made sure everything came out perfectly. Even though the restaurant was busy, she stayed upbeat and made us feel like a priority. It’s rare to come across service that feels so genuine, and Johana absolutely delivered. If you’re dining here, I highly recommend asking for her. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you, Johana, for making our breakfast such a great experience!“

“Feels like something out of the ‘80s in the best way: letter board menu, cash only, Michael Jackson music, picture of Pope John Paul II on the wall, etc. Service can be a little spotty but the staff are always friendly. I’ve eaten here many times and everything I’ve had off the menu is great, just sometimes things can be unavailable because the place is so popular and closes early“

“This is a tidy little cafe with a nice selection of healthy eats. I had a falafel wrap with a side of spinach and potatoes and a green smoothie. They have a wide range of options, from their popular chicken shawarma wrap to chickpea or salmon salads, and fresh pressed juices. What stood out to me was the fantastic service. The owner made great suggestions based on my dietary restrictions. It’s a great place to unwind, and a welcome spot im the neighborhood.“

“Blueberry is the most popular flavor at Mission Muffins, but don’t skip the chocolate, cinnamon, or apple muffins. There’s even a chocolate-chip muffin affectionately named “A Milk Chocolate Chip Off The
Old Block.” Add banana to the muffin mix, and Mission Muffins calls it “Bananas And Milk (Chocolate Chips, That Is).”
Mission Muffins bakes yummy treats, and they are also on a mission to help people in need. Located inside a small trailer, Mission Muffins is a job-training program for Central Union Mission, one of the city’s oldest non-profits helping people find homes, jobs, and clothes so they can be safe and happy. Because of the mission’s inspiring work, thousands of DC residents now have better lives and brighter futures.
Here’s how it works. Mission Muffins teaches people how to bake and sell muffins and interact with customers so that they can earn a stable income. These activities help them develop important skills in retail, customer service, and time management. Once the participants move on from Mission Muffins, they are ready to go out into the world as
good employees elsewhere. Mission Muffins offers them a pathway to income and security.
In addition to offering delicious muffins here, Mission Muffins serves “Mission Mud” coffee to adults, of course, from DC’s oldest roastery. They also sell breakfast burritos and sandwiches. The breakfast sandwich here isn’t what you’d expect – it comes with an egg and meat patty inside a jalapeno and corn muffin. It’s one of the top sellers.“

“Nice spot.
Staff are all on top of things and run a tight ship. Place is always clean and stocked.
I’ve had many of their sandwiches and some of their soups. I’ve always been pleased. I particularly like the spicy sandwiches.
I’ve lived in one of the apartments above the shop for a few months now, and can attest to the quality being consistent over a 6 month period.“

“Wow! I’m mind blown of the quality of the bagels especially with the garlic & herbs cream cheese. The bagel was so moist and soft with essence of grandmas bake goods.
Great service and I’m so glad it popped up in my neighborhood. Yummm !!!!!“

“I really enjoyed my visit to this spot for breakfast; it has that classic, cozy diner feel that is hard to find these days. The food came out quickly, was cooked just right, and had that comforting, homemade taste. It is definitely a great place if you want a no-fuss meal to start your day.“

“I had a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and a half smoke with cheese. The half smoke was ok but far from the best. I probably wouldn’t buy it again. The bacon, egg and cheese sandwich was good. Plenty of bacon. Parking isn’t the best but it’s manageable. You’ll find a spot in the street somewhere. They’re not wheelchair accessible.“
“Nice cafeteria. Very friendly staff. Good place to meet friends and make new ones.Dishes aren't completely clean but clean enough. A few flies flying around. Expensive because it's Northern Virginia.Good place to eat. Recommended if you're in this hotel already.“

“For $25 at lunch, honestly, it was a great value! They had a made to order pasta bar, wine and beer, sandwiches, salad bar, soup, hot entree, and dessert bar. Yes, the options were limited but overall everything was good. The place was pretty empty, and there was no one at the front desk so we had to walk in and find someone to seat us. Also, the sign says 18% auto gratuity added for parties of 6 or more, but we were a party of 2 and they added it anyway. Overall, for the price, it was worth it.“

“Brown Bag Catering has a user-friendly ordering portal that makes it easy to place orders without slowing down your day. Delivery was timely and everything arrived fresh. Pricing is reasonable for DC, and the menu options—like the ability to add a dessert tray and two bowls of salad to a sandwich platter—are a nice touch. Highly recommended.“
“First Trip: Tried the Beef Stew /w Collard Greens and Cabbage. The Beef stew was very well seasoned, no salt or pepper needed!!!! Greens and Cabbage on point! (Soul Food). I thought D.C. was lost when Soul Kitchen closed down during the Covid, we're back now!!!!!!“

“Visiting DC with my son and staying right next door at the Hamilton Hotel. We came for lunch yesterday and the food was so delicious—and the veggies super fresh—that we had to come back for breakfast today :). The space is clean and comfortable. They also have convenient grab-and-go options, which are perfect to pick up for a lunch break at the Smithsonian. Loved the free lemon water, too—a huge plus if you don't usually order drinks like me!“

“Food was pretty good, we felt the scramble eggs aren't scrambled, if you are a picky eater and love your eggs SCRAMBLED. Everything else was great, I had a omlette and it was delicious and very well prepared. Our only complaint was the A/C, it was pumping, luckily I had (2) light jackets in my car. I noticed the couple next to us went to his car and got an sweatshirt for his Mom. It was just a bit cold, but I would deal with that versus A/C is broken. I would go back as this was my first visit.“
