Edit - My one qualm is that one time, my partner ordered a burger and while two of our burgers came out, he had to wait nearly 45 minutes for his. I’m still going to come back, but that was a bit surprising and disappointing and I hope that doesn’t happen again! I really like the atmosphere!“

We’ve loved eating at Her Diner before it was. My child (now almost 23) and I started going for the Drag Watch party when they were 13! They would win shots for me with their drag trivia knowledge 🥰 They even did their first few drag performances there thanks to Kelly, Thida and their Queendom💝 And when Her Diner finally took form, I think the food and decor got even better! “The first time I came here with friends I got the Old Bay fries and stayed for about an hour. The fries were good, but it didnt seem like they tossed them in the seasoning, just dumped it on, so it was concentrated in some spots and lacking in others. The second time I came, it was after 10:30, and I was turned away at the door because they start checking IDs at that time. Apparently they won't give people Xs or stamp their hands, they just don't let you come in if you're under 21. Not appreciated, and I hope they consider adjusting that policy as a respectable establishment on the block.“

“Illusions is a must dine restaurant!!! I ordered shrimp and grits and catfish and grits!!!!!! After traveling to Pennsylvania and warming up my food……it was outstanding!! Being able to travel with seafood and grits for nearly 3hrs. This along with the flavor, portion size is just outstanding! My mom and I didn't want to finish it all so we saved half for the next day! And it was still sooooo good! The ONLY issue we only had a little bit left! So not only am I’m going back I’m going back asap!!! 5***** food!!!! So sorry I forgot to take pictures

“I have been coming to Jackpot regularly for almost three years now. It is, by definition, a dive bar, and they do it incredibly well. Free unlimited popcorn, weekly rotating draft beer, bring your own food…What’s not to love?

Jackpot is a great spot to come to after work to take a load off and relax. If you come between 4-8pm they’re usually not too busy and you can find a spot at the bar. They also offer their happy hour during this time and it’s a very competitive happy hour compared to other bars in the area; $5 rail drinks and $2 off all beer (though they do have a few specialty craft beers that are not eligible for happy hour pricing).

The music they play depends on who is bartending, but regardless, they’re always playing some fire tunes. Every time I’ve come in here, I’ve always been greeted with a smile and served within a few minutes, without fail. The bartending staff are always so friendly and accommodating. They’re also always willing to hold some amazing conversation, so long as they aren’t busy, which is the case most of the time except late night on Fridays and Saturdays.

Overall, if you’re looking for a chill dive bar with some good beer and great staff, Jackpot will always get the job done.“

“I am here for a conference. I had just gone on a 2.5 hour walk to /exploration of memorial park & was absolutely exhausted and wanted something in the hotel that I could take up to my room. I walked in, there were no tables in sight. Super busy. I ran into one waiter, Francis/Francisco, he personally brought me to the point of sale to put in my to-go order and told me to come back and ask for him. They had it ready in 30 minutes (a quick waiting time for how busy it was), and it was amazing. Francis was so sweet. I can’t thank him enough!!“

I ordered the crab cake sandwich, fries and Mac n cheese 🧀. Everything was good, my girl loved the food and the music was a vibe. I would definitely recommend visiting this spot if you I the area. Although, we both doing dry January the drink prices are very reasonable compared to most places in DC. Had a great time.“
