“This was my first time trying their cookie. I was told by someone that they were too sweet. I tried their oatmeal cookie with raisin and it was delicious. One of the best cookies I've ever had. It was not too sweet at all. Full of flavor , crispy on the outside and chewie on the inside. Unfortunately I didn't get to try other flavors so I can't comment on them but I look forward next time I get a chance.“

“Adorable little bakery tucked into an alleyway in Union Market. They're in the middle of the alley and impossible to spot (unless, as there often is, there's a line out the door), so it can feel a little sketchy to walk aimlessly through a random alleyway, but Bread Alley makes the walk super cute with a lovely string of arrows pointing you to their gorgeous black brick and wooden storefront.

They don't have a full-time cashier, so if you get to Bread Alley during one of their off-peak hours, you have to knock or ring the bell and wait for one of their bakers to come open the door for you. Once they do, you'll be welcomed into a cozy little shopping area with just a cash register, small pastry case (which just includes a few exemplary pastries -- the rest are in the back), and a wall of various types of bread. I didn't end up grabbing one of their breads, but I'll definitely have to make my way back for them; the harissa black sesame sourdough looked incredibly enticing, but I just, unfortunately, didn't have a need for a full loaf of bread at the time. However, I was in the mood for a sweet treat and decided to get a classic pain au chocolat. They don't have an indoor seating space, given their relatively barebones front-end, so I just ate my croissant as I walked home. It was a beautiful croissant, with a gorgeous lamination inside and nice glossy finish. It was a smidge too doughy for my taste, as I generally prefer really light and airy croissants, but it was still delicious.“

“Ordered from Fresh Baguette app. Didn’t get half(!!) of my order and customer service wasn’t really helpful, no information on whether I’ll get my food delivered or they’ll give me a refund. Very upsetting situation.

Update: got my issue resolved 3 hours later, will get a refund in 3-5 days, plus got a $20 gift card“

“Honestly true neighborhood gem, some of the best coffee I’ve had in a while. Great service usually as well. Only complaint is they have a heavy automatic door without the option of going around it. I’ve been injured as this door tried to force itself closed on me and I’ve watched several others struggle with it. Any benefit is completely outweighed by the potential for injury and hassle for customers, including those who need accommodation. An easy swinging door would be far safer for everyone and meet the needs of the community.“

We ended up sharing a meat and vegetable combo, as you can see here. The bread, paired with the hearty meat and vegetables, was very satisfying. “I loved going here and the employees were so nice. I am gluten free and ate the cupcakes. One of the employees showed me everything they make that’s gluten free daily and what they can make upon request. I am partial to the gluten free chocolate cupcake but the vanilla was good too!“

“The beignets are made fresh to order. We ordered two orders ( 3 per order) of the powdered sugar beignets and they were ??. We tried the vanilla, strawberry, and raspberry sauces and they made the beignets even better. The vanilla puts you in the mind of a cinnamon roll frosting but better. Beware the powdered sugar beignets can get MESSY so don’t eat them in your car……

“We consider ourselves conesures of cupcakes. Traveled the US and abroad tasting cupcakes. These were the very worst. Customer service is terrible. Sprinkles, Georgetown, and Heaven Sent Cupcakery Cupcakes exceeds these by leaps and bounds and they all have EXCELLECT Customer service. Oh and their cupcakes are half the price. Sugar Vault is true to its name. The frosting like many have complained has no flavor and measures about a third of a cup in ratio to the cupcake and is unbarerably sweet. The cupcake lacked moisture and was a bit dense. The red velvet did not have a red velvet flavor. Oh and you can't go in to see what you are buying. This is the only bakery that will not allow you to enter even in small numbers rotating thru. Buyer beware...price far exceeds the value. $7 cupcakes, $16 cinnamon roll (haven't yet tried the cinnamon roll). Bought 2 red velvet cupcakes taste tested one and threw the frosting and other cupcake out.“

“I contacted Rachel to make treats from my friend who is gluten free and unable to consume dairy. Rachel was extremely patient while we worked through options. I decided on s'mores bars. I could not be happier with the treats! As a vegan of over a decade, I have consumed hundreds of vegan baked goods. The Fetching Goodies bars are on par with desserts from popular - vegan and non-vegan - brick and mortar bakeries. I can promise that an omnivore would not be able to tell that Fetching Goodies treats are dairy free! I highly recommend Fetching Goodies. It was pleasure to support a small business owner who is so thoughtful and talented.“

I had the chorizo, the rosemary-fig tart, and the peach-sesame kouign-amann. Life-changing. Every bite. After a bite of their kouign-amann, I threw away the (more expensive) quiche/pastry I'd grabbed from Eastern Market and replaced them with Souk's. Serious upgrade.“

“Located inside the Ronald Reagan building so you need to go through security to get there. Delicious cookies and ice cream that was perfect after a day at the National Children's Museum. This place is far more appropriate for kids tastes than offerings at the National Children's Museum next door.“
