“I’ve been dining here for over 20 years. The food is always outstanding. The only wonton soup I will eat, as others cannot compare. The Peking duck, crispy chicken, and chicken and cashew are great. Service is reliable. A good selection for dessert that does not disappoint.“

“We come to eat at the Rosedale location maybe once a month. Even on long waits when we are extra hungry, we always request Draven because he is a rockstar! Our drinks are never empty and requests such as extra napkins, gloves, bibs etc are always met expeditiously. We never have to wait long for food and it is always fresh and hot. Our family are creatures of habit and we typically get the same thing every time. Let’s start with the clam chowder. A generous bowl with a heaping portion of clam. We especially enjoy the crackers on the side for our picky toddler to nibble on. For dinner I always get the Cajun boil with the hook n reel blend *spicy* with sausage and hard boiled eggs as an add on. I like to get a 20 oz. draft ipa. It pairs very well with the spiciness of the boil. Our toddler usually ends up with tenders and sweet potato waffle fries. Recently she has started to eat broccoli (hallelujah!) so we get that on the side as well. For a family of 3, we spend around $130. If you request Draven, please expect to be amazed by the service and expect to tip at LEAST 20% for impeccable service. For those bad at math, 20% of $130 is $26, which I like to bump up to $30. Sorry this was so long! If you got this far, enjoy your dinner at Hook n Reel in Rosedale. We always do!“

“I usually don’t eat Indian food, too spicy, but the ambassador makes the food just perfect for my taste. Special occasions when the mood is right, we go to the ambassador for that special taste of Indian cuisine. I’ve been going to the ambassador for the last 20 years. “Our table was not ready though our server motioned us to sit down while an extra table was added. No apologies, just: sit down, like we were inconveniencing her! Her attitude was approaching on rude. Orders were taken without comment, just looks. Soups were spilled onto saucers,no apologies. Coffee was served twice without spoons, containers were brought while people were still eating, same with bill. Everything was rushed, without a smile or occasional: can I get you anything or is everything ok? And why as a fine restaurant are you serving salad dressing in cheap plastic containers???“

Had a delicious 3 course meal. And then dessert with sparkler! The atmosphere was amazing - beautiful decor, clean, perfect acoustics so you could hear and talk, but also wonderful selection of music playing in the background. “Hands down, the crabs were so GREAT!!! I've been thinking about them since I had them!!! On another note, the service wasn't good, but what can you expect when the tips are included in your bill. Service staff will do the bare minimum in cases like that. She kept forgetting to bring items, and just left the trash on our table the whole time.“

The waitress spoke with the chef and he cobbled together something for me that had good flavor, but I had no idea was I was getting until it was served. My girlfriend's steak was a little tough (she struggled to cut it). Overall a good experience; a vegan option on the menu would be appreciated.“

“Ordered off of their catering menu for my wife's birthday. I purchased the Margharita Seafood Special with shrimp, scallops and lump crabmeat in a rose' cream sauce and it was excellent! The homemade meatballs jad everybody raving and their sausage, onions and peppers in marinara sauce was also great. Thankfully we had some left overs that we are still enjoying. Lastly was their Greek salad, very fresh and loaded with feta cheese. I definitely recommend these folks for your next lunch or dinner or when you need an event catered. The crabs were heavy, packed with sweet meat, and perfectly seasoned. If you are looking for quality seafood in the area, this spot is definitely worth it.

“We went to dinner here this evening with a large party of 10. While we enjoyed our food and our server was great our overall experience was not 🤦🏼‍♀️. I don’t know if we just had an evening of bad luck or what. First after sitting there a bit a VERY large picture fell off of the wall directly onto me and my 18 month old daughter, then there was a gnat in our drink, and my dad walked outside and a piece of shingle fell off and hit him in the head. Like, I seriously couldn’t make this up. 🤣 like I said food was good and so was our waiter but I feel like a little more could have been done after the picture situation. A cupcake and free drink didn’t really cut it. Had it just fallen on me I wouldn’t have been so upset but the fact that it fell on my daughter made my soul leave my body. We will give it another shot at some point and chock tonight up to the full moon or something just be careful where you sit your kiddos.“

“This is a wonderful find — the food is home-cooked and delicious. They have a wide variety, including vegetarian options. They have a barbecue pit and make whole barbecue chickens. It smells wonderful when you walk in! They have family meals with all kinds of delicious sides to choose from. It’s a family and kid friendly restaurant … the burritos are delicious … the pupusas are delicious. And, the staff are very nice — warm, welcoming and accommodating. Highly recommend!“

I’m usually hesitant about seafood restaurants because there aren’t always many non-seafood options, but this place completely surprised me. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and cooked perfectly.
