If you are around it's a solid spot for lunch or takeout dinner.

“The night before the Marine Corps Marathon, we celebrated our anniversary dinner with family and relatives at Satay Club, a cozy Malaysian restaurant tucked in the heart of Washington DC. I’m always on the lookout for authentic flavors — and this place truly impressed us with every bite.

We started our feast with their signature Satay — both chicken and lamb. Perfectly grilled with smoky charred edges, the skewers were tender and flavorful, complemented beautifully by the rich, nutty peanut sauce. It felt like a taste of Kuala Lumpur in DC!

Next came the salted fish fried rice, aromatic and full of wok hei (that irresistible smoky aroma). The balance of savory salted fish, soft egg, and crisp vegetables made it comfort food at its best. The calamari dish was crispy on the outside and tender inside, served with colorful bell peppers and crunchy shallots — a delightful mix of texture and spice.

We also loved the tofu and eggplant stir-fry, which came in a deliciously savory sauce — rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying. To end the evening, we indulged in ice chendol and fried banana, a sweet and refreshing finish that brought nostalgic memories of Southeast Asia.

“We came here to celebrate my son’s birthday and have lunch, and we had a great experience. The buffet had a good variety of food, and we especially enjoyed being able to cook hot pot and grill meat at the table. The dessert selection was also quite large, which my children loved very much. “I had a delicious lunch at Eerkin's in Rockville today. My friend and I shared an eggplant salad, an order of manta dumplings stuffed with pumpkin, and an order of fried noodles with chicken. Everything was delicious. The portions were very generous. We enjoyed making our choice from the tea bar--one serving with a complimentary refill was plenty for two people. Service was friendly and attentive. Parking is convenient and free for the first two hours. Looking forward to a return trip!“

“MohMohLicious is delicious! They have an extensive menu, including lots of vegetarian options, and the portions are substantial—I get two days of leftovers from one entree. The food is fresh, piping hot, and just generally delectable. All in an unassuming little shop on Georgia Ave. The in-restaurant seating is limited (and chilly in the winter), so you might want to consider takeout.“

“$2 Crazy Hour is absolutely insane! They have a great selection of sushi and various appetizers. The sushi is the same high quality as their dinner service ,the fish pieces are huge and incredibly fresh. The alcohol are 50% off, and the selection is massive,they're not stingy like other places that only offer one or two brands. “I have nothing but good things to say about Gourmet Asian Bistro (7224 Muncaster Mill Rd, Derwood, MD 20855). It offers Chinese, Thai, and sushi. I've eaten there 3 times in the past 2 weeks, and it's been excellent every time and affordable! The vegetable tofu soup ($2.95) is huge, satisfying, and full of veggies. The wonton soup ($2.95) has 3 good sized wontons. Both soups come with a bowl of tastier-than-average fried wonton strips on the side that I end up munching on during the entire meal. The sizzling black pepper beef ($16.95?) was tasty, but I was more impressed by the noodle dishes. The beef chow fun ($14.95?) and the Singapore mei fun ($13.95) were beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly. I've also gotten the salmon nigiri ($5.95?) a couple times, and it's generously portioned and fresh with great quality salmon. Every meal ends with a complimentary tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream and fortune cookie. There are plenty of good Chinese restaurants in MoCo, but Gourmet Asian Bistro is my current favorite for best flavor and value.“

“Not only is every dish delicious, but the service at Isshin is so warm, so welcome and so lovely. Secret menu item is the handmade dumplings (they have two types so ask for these specifically). Their miso soup is very rich but not overly salty, which can be difficult to find, yet it is here daily and for a good price. I’m particularly in love with their udon noddles, which I get vegetarian with tofu, and the veggies are perfectly crisp. Their sushi rolls are fresh and I never get the seaweed burps. They know us when we walk in and make my wife and I feel like family. Become a regular, it’s worth it.“

“I had a craving for sushi and checked uber eats and they had a buy one get one free deal on a few items! We took advantage of the bogo deal and chose the sashimi appetizer (salmon, yellowtail, and tuna) and the spicy salmon roll. All of the fish were so fresh and tasty. We also grabbed an avocado salad which comes with ginger dressing. In my opinion, the dressing is a bit on the sweeter side and would have preferred less so. Definitely a winner in my book for quick service that’s dependable regarding freshness and taste!“

“I regularly order sushi from this restaurant and usually go for either the Shrimp Tempura Roll or the Salmon Tempura Roll with added cream cheese inside the roll. However, today was a disappointing experience. I ordered two lunch specials (which should include a total of four rolls) through Uber Eats, requesting the Salmon Tempura Roll with cream cheese inside the roll.

Unfortunately, I only received one lunch special (just two rolls), which I reported through the Uber Eats app for a refund. On top of that, instead of adding the cream cheese inside the roll as requested, it was just placed on top—which really affects the flavor and overall experience. Anyone who enjoys sushi knows that how the roll is made impacts the taste.

“Absolutely delicious food! I first came here six years ago for my husband’s birthday after hearing about the restaurant from a foodie. It’s an unpretentious spot with incredibly good food. We ordered 10+ different dishes that first time and loved everything, especially the dan dan noodles and the pork bun. Nothing can ever compare to their Dan Dan noodles no matter how many times we order them from different restaurants!

We moved far away after a few years, but when we came back to visit friends this month, this was the first restaurant we wanted to return to. The food was just as delicious as it was six years ago. Highly recommend!“

The atmosphere is perfect for a quick bite, most people are in and out, it does not claim to be anything fancy - just simple hearty food. Be aware that this is a CASH ONLY establishment, I always come with a $20 bill and that is always enough to cover my meal + tip. I would recommend the eye round steak & brisket pho.
