“The night before the Marine Corps Marathon, we celebrated our anniversary dinner with family and relatives at Satay Club, a cozy Malaysian restaurant tucked in the heart of Washington DC. I’m always on the lookout for authentic flavors — and this place truly impressed us with every bite.

We started our feast with their signature Satay — both chicken and lamb. Perfectly grilled with smoky charred edges, the skewers were tender and flavorful, complemented beautifully by the rich, nutty peanut sauce. It felt like a taste of Kuala Lumpur in DC!

Next came the salted fish fried rice, aromatic and full of wok hei (that irresistible smoky aroma). The balance of savory salted fish, soft egg, and crisp vegetables made it comfort food at its best. The calamari dish was crispy on the outside and tender inside, served with colorful bell peppers and crunchy shallots — a delightful mix of texture and spice.

We also loved the tofu and eggplant stir-fry, which came in a deliciously savory sauce — rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying. To end the evening, we indulged in ice chendol and fried banana, a sweet and refreshing finish that brought nostalgic memories of Southeast Asia.

“not. a. single. miss. went here for a date and the vibes were immaculate -- we were seated at one of the window seats, allowing us a great view of passerby. we ordered the salmon belly with jeow som, perfectly fatty and tangy; the jaew bong wings with the sauce that was so unforgettable that i had to scoop it over my rice; incredibly tender thom khem (pork ribs); sweet-but-not-too-sweet black sesame sticky rice with green tea ice cream as dessert. absolutely going to return. recommend a reservation if possible.“

“We came here to celebrate my son’s birthday and have lunch, and we had a great experience. The buffet had a good variety of food, and we especially enjoyed being able to cook hot pot and grill meat at the table. The dessert selection was also quite large, which my children loved very much. Talking about the food: I ordered,

● Fresh shrimp summerroll: it was fresh and done the right way, and the peanut sauce was good.
● Chiken spring roll: was crispy and not greasyat all, I did not like the souce that comeswith it (you need to make a new soice please).
● Dumpling: I had netter, can be much better.
● Pho beef combination: was just perfectly done, the broth was flavorful so as a whole it was just delicious.

Food quality was great and fresh, survise was really good and fast.

Would I come back? Yes I would and Highly recommend it.“

“I had a delicious lunch at Eerkin's in Rockville today. My friend and I shared an eggplant salad, an order of manta dumplings stuffed with pumpkin, and an order of fried noodles with chicken. Everything was delicious. The portions were very generous. We enjoyed making our choice from the tea bar--one serving with a complimentary refill was plenty for two people. Service was friendly and attentive. Parking is convenient and free for the first two hours. Looking forward to a return trip!“

The sushi is the same high quality as their dinner service ,the fish pieces are huge and incredibly fresh. Mom and pop shop run by a husband and wife. They’ve been open for 30+ years. Such a sweet couple and so kind. The food came quickly and it was all so delicious. “I recently visited this spot and had an absolutely wonderful experience from the moment I walked through the doors. If you're looking for fantastic Asian cuisine, this place definitely needs to be on your radar.

​First off, the service is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The staff made us feel right at home immediately, and one of my favorite highlights was the complimentary hot tea they provided right as we sat down. It’s such a comforting, traditional touch that really sets a relaxing tone for a great meal.

“Memory lane. My old friend used to get food from here and share it with me. I didn't know that and didn't understand why she braved through the hood for this place until I left the DMV area. It's worth it. This was the first place that I was introduced to Chinese carryout food and mumbo sauce. Check this out: Mumbo sauce is a DIP for fried chicken wings and not a wet rub. The correct and best way is to dip your fried chicken wings in the mumbo sauce (like you dip your wings in ranch dressing). If you want to smother your wings in mumbo sauce, then that is your personal preference, but anyone or any place serving the wings to you already smothered in mumbo sauce is wrong. Mumbo sauce is pink and is supposed to come in a condiment cup (just like ranch dressing). Another thing: The wings here taste good on their own and better with mumbo sauce. Best wings in the DMV. Best mumbo sauce in the DMV. Best wings & mumbo sauce pairing in the DMV. I said it. I left the DMV years ago and there is no American Chinese carryout that compares to this place in my travels. Trust me, only NYC Chinese carryouts can dare compete. I only took off a star because of my ordering experience years ago. I brought my brother here to order carryout because I am not brave enough to go to the hood by myself, and the lady who took my order was rude, not nice, unfriendly, unwelcoming, the worst. It's as if I wasn't a human being. If I wasn't determined to have my brother taste the food (he agreed that it tasted really good), then I would have turned around and said forget it.“

“Not only is every dish delicious, but the service at Isshin is so warm, so welcome and so lovely. Secret menu item is the handmade dumplings (they have two types so ask for these specifically). Their miso soup is very rich but not overly salty, which can be difficult to find, yet it is here daily and for a good price. I’m particularly in love with their udon noddles, which I get vegetarian with tofu, and the veggies are perfectly crisp. Their sushi rolls are fresh and I never get the seaweed burps. They know us when we walk in and make my wife and I feel like family. Become a regular, it’s worth it.“

It’s a weird one-stop-shop for all things lunch. But I digress. We tried a variety of basic sushi like their California roll. It was all good. The rolls were not huge. But we enjoyed them. The service is a bit gruff. And the ambiance is pure 80’s fast food. But forget about all of that. Go in, grab some sushi while your spouse/partner/friend grabs a slice. “I just ordered takeout from China Express for the first time and I am happily surprised! I ordered takeout to pick up on their website where I tipped (you also sign a receipt where it gives you another opportunity to tip, so just decide beforehand how you want to). The website said it would take about 30 minutes for my order to be ready, and it was ready in about 40. I ordered the wonton soup, a side of fried ride, and the hunan beef. I do think that I was given the hunan chicken by mistake, but no complaints because it is quite good. The wonton soup is definitely the star of the show— highly recommend!“
