The only issue I've ever had over the years is getting a pickle when I put no pickle about 9 out of 10 times. Out of the many times I've been there it's only affected the sandwich once tho since they put it on the other side of the paper. Luckily my husband loves them.“

“Higher Grounds is the coolest store ever. My husband and I stopped in twice during our Portland stay from out of town. We bought a variety of THC products and found the prices reasonable and quality to be exceptional. It’s a calm and ambiant place free from judgement. “I am the kind of person who scoffed at vanilla ice cream. I thought it was boring, plain, blah. So when I went to Zephyr Ice I had planned to ask if I could just get the shaved ice— no ice cream. I am so glad I didn’t do that. This is the best ice cream I have ever tasted, and the shaved ice of course was flawless. I can’t go often because of the distance, but whenever I do find myself near Portland, I dream of this place.“

“Note: asking for crunchies as a topping at other places means chocolate crunchies, but here the “crunchy coat” means their special mix of peanut, sprinkles, and a few other things! I was surprised when I got my order- but it was good!

Very generous portion sizes for the price, and their soft serve is just so, so good. I tried the toffee soft serve (a flavor of the day) and it was a little too sweet for my liking, but the vanilla and chocolate are amazing. Soft serve sometimes tastes very chemical, but this tastes like the real stuff!“

The food was so delicious that I actually found myself wishing I could get the recipes to make the dishes at home later. I ordered the chicken sandwich, and it was one of the most unique and flavorful sandwiches I’ve ever had. Every bite was incredible. My friend ordered the steak and cheese, and it must have been amazing because she ate every last bite of it without hesitation! The staff deserves special recognition as well. They were excellent, kind, and especially patient with my service dog in training, who is only five months old. Their understanding and welcoming attitude made the whole experience even better. Overall, this was a wonderful first visit, and I will definitely be returning. Highly recommended!“

I am a regular at the Scarborough commissary throughout the summer and this was my first time visiting the Portland location. The staff all said hello to me with a smile and conversation and had no problem packing a few rolls for me to go! Great staff and always consistent food!“

“Our Garden Suite was awesome! Super comfortable and well appointed, awesome soaking tub, the nicest robes, great views and quick walk to the beach. Loved how dog friendly it is. Dog bowls, dog blanket, dog towel, ball, poopie bags and a giant biscuit greeted our pup. Dogs are even allowed in the tavern. Hot chocolate and cookies in the lobby at night. Chocolates in the room. Free use of the steam room and experience shower in the spa for guests. Staff is great! That’s just to name a few things that makes the Inn by the Sea great! We can’t wait to go back!“

It was so good I couldn't hold a conversation......or maybe it was their margaritas!! “Best food I ate in Portland all week (including upscale places) was the lobster bisque from Chef Ryan. Oysters were GREAT as well. Family friendly. Chef Ryan’s whole menu was top notch and the kitchen staff was so nice. Ty came up and offered to give my young kids a lobster lesson over FaceTime (was here for work). Lizzy was excellent at the bar for our group. Ashley was amazing and welcoming to our group. Couldn’t recommend more. But def order the menu items and not just the lobster!“

“Everyone needs to come here! If you don’t like rum or gin you’d be surprised as they have amazing drinks. A lot of their rum has scotch/whiskey vibes. They infuse their gin with things like strawberries and raspberries and make their own tonic. The music is on point, board games are here to be played and an indoor/outdoor vibe. Idk what you’re waiting for.. get over here! Also shout out to the bartenders are they were both lovely humans!“
