I recently visited this restaurant, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The food is authentic, fresh, and healthy, which is so hard to find these days. Every dish reminded me of the flavors and warmth of home back in China. You can tell the ingredients are high quality, and the dishes are made with care and attention to detail. From the rich flavors to the comforting atmosphere, this place is an absolute gem. I can’t recommend it enough for anyone craving real, wholesome Chinese food. I’ll definitely be coming back!

“The food was very good. I would've preferred a bit more spicy. They did give us some chili oil. They were super friendly! Seemed pretty clean, but I did think it was maybe a touch warm inside. We had the curry beef and szechuan chicken.“

“We had an amazing meal, drinks and experience at Zao Jun. We were planning on heading through the area and checked out their menu online and it looked amazing. Our server was actually the bartender Jeff who was pulling double duty and did it flawlessly and with laughter. We had amazing drinks....the crab rangoons and sauce were the best we ever tasted and so was the miso soup (got more to take home). And the veggie lo mein and short ribs bao buns were outstanding and perfectly portioned for my daughter and I to try (and still have lo mein to take home). Her and I already plan to go back and sit at the bar next time because Jeff seriously won us over with his personality as well as the food and atmosphere!!“

“My father and I stopped in for lunch at the PF Chang’s inside Somerset Mall, James was our server and took exceptional care of us! The food was delicious but the service is what really put this over the top! James was like a magician, here when we needed him and a ghost when we had mouthfuls of food (no one likes being bothered when they’re eating)… he made excellent recommendations and even brought over a sauce concoction, similar to the trio for our egg rolls that had spicy mustard that was fabulous! Overall you know what to expect from Chang’s and the kitchen delivered but James’s service was perfect and really made our meal an excellent experience! “We came in for a date night. We have been very stressed as our wedding is 70 days away and he thought this would be a nice break away from planning and family obligations. DJ was our server, she was hands down the best. She joked with us and was very knowledgeable about the menu and drink choices. My fiancé even asked her to keep our food warm while I went outside to handle a phone call from our children. DJ was very attentive, you could tell she had experience. Will definitely come back and ask for her to be our server again.“

“I like many of you, like using the review score when making purchase decisions. I never just look at the score. I look for the number of reviews and I try to find helpful reviews to give me more incite into what I may be getting into. My wife works in a business where the reviews really matter for bringing in new customers. She often talks about the long-time customers who keep returning but have never left a review. Those are really the voices that should matter more to people who want an honest review of the company they are looking into. Unfortunately, even though I like looking at reviews, I seldom leave one unless I'm very satisfied with the company or really disappointed. In both cases, I leave my emotions aside and tell things as I experience them. This means that if everything wasn't perfect, I don't ding them for minor stuff. I give people the benefit of the doubt because we all have those days when we aren't at our best. When I read bad reviews about restaurants that I frequent often, I wonder about the person leaving the review. I feel that they are either competitors with malicious intent, someone who didn't try to listen to resolve whatever issues they perceived to be happening, or simply someone who's looking for a reason and is too hard to please in the first place. So with all that out of the way, let me get to the Lim's Star review. I love Chinese food and it's one of the first things I looked for locally when I bought my house 10 years ago. There are several in what I would consider my drivable area. Lim's Star is in my top 5 or higher depending on what dish I'm looking for. 10 years means I've been coming there since before the current owner. Do I miss the dinner rolls? Not really, since I get better quality food and personalization of meals on request. The new owner knows us on sight and remembers what we like to order. He even allows us to modify the ingredients to our liking. He is very friendly and will engage in small talk to get to know his customers better. We eat at or buy takeout from Lim's Star at least once a month, sometimes more. Has everything always been perfect? No, but I really can't recall the last time I was dissatisfied with my order or service. Based on my long review, I'm hoping you can tell I have had many enjoyable meals from and experiences with Lim's Star. Seriously! If you are on the fence or willing to try something new in your area, start with a dish you know to compare. I doubt you will be disappointed in your comparison. Mark J.“

“We had a power outage in the area, and this was the only Chinese open in Waterford. We came 30 minutes before closing, and the owners were very nice and went above and beyond for us. Being vegan, they made accommodations for me.

I ordered the veggie lo mein, and the portion size was huge. The flavor was pleasant but could have used a little more garlic and spices. There were no dinner combination options that came with fried rice and egg roll or soup. I ate my fill, and had enough to last me for a late night snack and lunch the next day.

My partner ordered either Sesame or General Tsau Chicken, and it came with white rice. He said the flavor was good and portion Very Generous. We both ordered veggie egg rolls a la carte and pop. The spring/ egg rolls were a bit too sweet, and the plum sauce was pale yellow instead of classic orange. I would not get those again.

My boyfriend devoured the chicken dish and still had leftovers!!!

The owners let us sit there and eat from the carry out containers, and told us to take our time. It was very nice and friendly.

I later noticed that they had Tofu stir fries available which I overlooked. I think I would have been better off with one of those.

Our total was over $30, like 34-37-- including the drinks. Usually we pay $20-36 dollars and we order combination plates.

I would possibly order from them again but would specify preference for more garlic and spices for my vegan options.

The fact that the owners were so nice and accommodating, letting us sit there and eat after closing, and having to cook my complicated Veg option after a long day tells me that they take pride in their restaurant, and would go above and beyond to accommodate any future modifications“

I ordered the almond chicken dinner combo, it came with fried rice and an egg roll, I also ordered some crab rangoon. The food was hot, fresh and delicious! And there was a lot of it! “Elevated Chinese cusine, with fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation. A very elaborate menu, and a little higher on the price side, but then again, you are paying for the whole experience here, and it will be amazing. The food was exquisite, not extremely authentic, but for the location, it was excellent, as Farmington Hills is not so populated with Chinese folk, and I did see many patrons, so it said a lot just walking into the dining room.
We had a large party, and it took a while for us to get our drinks, our soup was already at the table, and no drinks served yet.

“The pulled noodles were fresh and had a great texture. I ordered the Xiao Long Bao, but unfortunately, the soup was missing due to overcooking. I also tried the C12, but the soup was too salty, making it difficult to finish. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and welcoming. I’m considering coming back to try other flavors and see if they’re better balanced.“

“I’m not a huge fan of Chinese food...it is either blah or just ok to me. There’s never been a restaurant that made me think it was great, mostly because I prefer other ethnic food much more. That being said, even with my bias, this place is really good! The portions are HUGE and at a fair price, and the egg rolls are perfectly crisp on the outside and flavorful and moist on the inside. What makes it 5 stars? The staff has a sense of urgency...everyone is bustling around in there, but they are really friendly and you genuinely feel that they are happy their restaurant is so full and busy. I got the sense that they really wanted to please people. Even on a Friday night when it was very busy, we barely waited 10 minutes to get seated. Our food came out very fast and our waitress was super nice. It was also noticeably very clean in there. Nice updated decor and fresh clean tables and booths.“

Ordered General Tso chicken and for $11 I got like 2 lbs. in a big white Styrofoam box (packed) They do NOT skimp on the portions and the Pork fried rice was amazing and the Egg drop soup was also good. “I have been looking for an actual "good" Chinese take out. As most Chinese in the Royal oak, Ferndale, Oak park area are bellow average bland Chinese. I got word that Madison heights has some great Chinese spots so I gave Chao Zhou a chance and I was immediately hooked. You can taste the quality in this food.

Chao Zhou sticks out from the rest and is something I can definitely recommend people try. Probably the best General Tao's chicken I've had in a long time. The Singapore noodles was another stand out option that I also loved.

“I love the Gung Bo Shrimp. My brother first discovered this place back in the 1990s. My girlfriend likes the food too and often orders beef fried rice, which she likes. Very friendly people there, but I think I've only eaten there in person twice, so I gave a three stars for atmosphere. I am just neutral on the atmosphere because I don't have much experience.“

The soup was on the lower end of hot and sour soups I've had. If I return to this place, I wouldn't order it again. The General Tso's, however, was excellent. It wasn't groundbreaking, or especially unique, but it was delicious. The quantity bolstered the enjoyment- one could easily get two meals out of it as I did. I rarely order fried rice, but this place served excellent fried rice.

The service was excellent. It was quick, efficient, and pleasant. The lady who took my order was very nice, and I had my food within 15 minutes.

The atmosphere wasn't anything to write home about, it was a hole-in-the wall carry out restaurant, but it did its job.“

“The best Chinese in the state of Michigan . We used to live a couple of blocks down auburn rd and we would take out once a week. Now the last 5 years whenever the wife , kids and I want Chinese we have to drive 1/2 hour to get Pings . Really there is no eating at another Chinese place once you have one bite of their generous and delectable proportions . House made duck sauce and egg rolls are the best ever !“

We got carry out on a Saturday night. General Taos chicken was a huge portion with large meaty chicken. The crab Rangoons were large and the best we’ve found. The dumplings were large as well and juicy. We were very pleased with our meal and we have lots of leftovers to enjoy. Food was made quickly and arrived hot. We hopefully finally found our new go to Chinese spot.“

“I ordered over the phone by searching through a recommendation of my sister-in-law. She said the food was always hot and done fast, which she was correct with that. The food was extremely hot. It took me 15 minutes to get there from my house and 15 minutes back, and the food was still Burning hot when I called the woman on the phone. I could barely hear her and asked to repeat herself a few times, just because I couldn’t heat her when I got inside. My food was already done. I paid the interaction with the woman at the counter which then again she talked very low and seemed monotone like I couldn’t hear her very well. The whole transaction was quick. Parking: Parking spaces were very tiny I have an suv I felt like I was going to hit somes car pulling in the space and opening door also when you back up if you park directly at the front door, I feel like it’s very close to car that are parked directly and back of you“

There are other many Chinese dishes which I cannot recollect. The taste of those dishes are different. May not suite my Indian pallete.
