“I took my girlfriend to The Avenue Brunch House on Michigan Ave in Dearborn to celebrate her birthday, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The restaurant is beautiful inside, the wait was short, and our server, Veronica, was absolutely wonderful. The food—wow!—large portions, perfectly cooked, and reasonably priced. The drinks were excellent too. It was the perfect birthday brunch for her and a great time for both of us. A true gem in Dearborn—highly recommended!“

“We went there for mother's day. They where very busy. We had rsvp. We got sat on time. Our server was very busy many tables and possibly a issue at one of them. We waited for a bit before our orders were taken. But the server was very professional. To took very great care of us. Was very apologizing for our wait. He may our visit well worth it. “PF Chang's just doesn't taste great anymore. I've gotten burned so many times at several locations post covid that I refused to order on our Mother's Day outing. At least 3 guests were unsatisfied. My family is stuck on PF Chang's, though. I don't understand it. The cocktails are a losing bet too.

Father's Day I dared to try my go to. Crispy Honey Chicken and a side of Lo Mein. The chicken seemed different than pre covid but at least tasty.. a lil too sour and peppery? Which is hard to achieve for me. I ordered the Midnight Gallop, and for some reason I was served a non-alcoholic version (Refresher). I guess I'm glad because virtually every other time we've gotten alcohol, we regretted it. Their wine is fine, the Dragon Fruit Crush is bomb. But we had to send the old fashioned back cuz it didn't taste like any liquor. Just some nasty mixer. Enough is enough.“

The food served to us was better than any of those. Do yourself I favor and stop in at Arbeel Kabab for the best Kabab in town.“

“Full disclosure: Like so many pizza snobs of a certain age in the Dearborn area, I've known Sal (DeMarco) forever (mid '70's). One of us wasn't even shaving when we met (7th grade). What'ya want from me? I was fair-haired then and not Italian. I digress. Here's the thing: I can't expect you to swallow that I'm giving an objectively glowing review here. I've known this guy fifty-plus years now and he made God-knows-how-many pizzas for my mother over the course of my decades away out West. Since I've been back, stopping in for some pizza and good-'ole-days BS with Sal satisfies me beyond words.
Recently, he and I did a rough calculation on how many pies he's crafted since opening his first pizza place at 18 in our old East Dearborn neighborhood (he's long-since set up shop on the West side). After checking the math twice on my saucy fingers, the number we came up with was upwards of 2,000,000. No exaggeration. 100-plus pies a day on average, 360-plus days a year, for the past 46.
Sal Demarco's pizza: Since 1980, some 2 million served. Hand-tossed one at a time, by the man himself (and nowadays, his sons, too). And I knew him when, before the first one. For the record, he still looks much like he did in his 7th grade school picture. Maybe that mustache was a little darker and fuller then. As for that once-fair hair of mine? Never mind.“

“First time at Sams coffee the food was beautiful. We had the streaky bacon brioche with scrambled eggs, cheddar and fresh chives, every mouth full was so tasty the bacon was crispy, not greasy it was light it actually reminded me of bacon frazzle crisps it was that light. The scrambled eggs were so light and fluffy perfectly paired with the toasted brioche bun. To drink I had a chemex coffee using a Kenyon blend it was fruity and full of flavor. Then to finish a flat white which was beautiful. I highly recommended Sams Coffee we will be back very soon“

“I wasn't sure about the menu options but then I found the Hobo Lunch. I had the turkey sandwich and it was good. It came with apple sauce, gold fish crackers, chocolate chip cookie and either milk or fountain drink. The fountain drinks are locally made. The root beer was yummy. I like the cola flavor but I also don't drink mainstream sodas.“

“Loved the atmosphere of this old school diner. Limited menu but the chicken salad sandwich was actually delicious as was the sloppy Joe. Turkey and cheese sandwich was just ok. Milkshakes were also yum. Soup was simple Campbells chicken noodle soup which brought me back to my childhood. Total bill was just under $50 for 4 people. Service was quick and friendly. We had no wait going on Memorial Day to be seated inside.

Only thing that left us with a negative taste was when we went up to pay at the cashier. I didn’t leave tip on my card as I had already left a 20% cash tip on the table. She rudely said to me “Thank you!” Slamming the receipt on the counter. I actually wondered what I’d done to her. My daughter told me after we’d walked out that she’d overheard the waitress saying to another waitress next to her “this is the third time I’ve been stiffed of a tip.” Unbelievable! As someone who worked in the service industry before, I always preferred cash tips. Maybe check the table before being so upset and rude! OR have a better system of having customers pay at the table instead of going up to the cashier. It causes confusion. I dont even know if she ended up getting the tip or if the bus boy took it.“

“Classic table service with seasonally prepared dishes. Hummus with Kalamata olive pesto and on site made pita bread was hard to want to share. Roasted salmon with couscous, which was a tad dry, and lovely Swiss chard hit the spot. Large by the glass wine list with many great choices.“

“My Wife and I were in town and stumbled on this place. The staff was friendly and the food was absolutely outstanding! I had the lamb curry (hot), and it did not disappoint. The lamb was so tender. All the flavors were fresh, and well done. I don't get a lot of lamb where I live, so I usually opt for it when I can. This was some of the best lamb I have ever had. Zero complaints on the food or staff. The place looked clean. The bathroom wasn't great, but that's okay. I didn't go there for that anyhow. There was next to no wait on the food. As soon as it was done, it was on our table. So, the food was hot and fresh.“
