“Just spent an evening at The Rustic Cabin Bar in Grosse Pointe Park, and it’s a place you must visit if you haven’t already. There’s something uniquely calming about this neighborhood gem. The highlight of my visit was watching people play pool. It’s not just a game here; it’s an art. The players, with their focused expressions, calculating each shot, made it almost meditative to watch. Every clink of the balls was like a note in a peaceful melody. The Rustic Cabin isn’t just a bar; it’s a retreat where every evening is an ode to the simple joys of life. ?✨“

“Had the opportunity to eat at sidecar slider bar last night for the first time on the hole. It was good experience, although I found it rather pricey for me the creativity of the sliders was really a welcome change from the typical burgers and sandwiches that you get around Grosse Pointe, however for $14 a slider, I would expect to get a freshly cooked ground beef patty and instead what I got was apparently precooked patties that maybe were kept warm in a serving tray or something and then just dressed with other fresh ingredients before their served. I would say that was my major disappointment with the sliders. For $14 I would expect to have a fresh piece of ground beef that was cooked to order, and then dressed up with the fantastic toppings and sauces that they have envisioned. Big disappointment that they don’t cook the burgers to order especially when they’re called a slider bar. One of the sliders I got was the fried chicken and it wasn’t even a fresh piece of chicken that was freshly breaded or dipped in a batter and deep-fried, and then put on the bun with some Fresh pickles, and so it seemed to me like it was a premade patty of some kind and it just was a major disappointment. So my recommendation for this place would be if you wanna call yourself a slider bar then the sliders should be fresh and cook to order and not made with Convenience over quality“

“My son and I stopped for a beer last Saturday afternoon. We were the only people there. Mary sat with us and gave us a detailed history of the place—which I’m sure she’s done hundreds of times. She is so nice. Loved the place. Stroh’s beer are very inexpensive, too. No food but Mary recommended another bar for lunch in nearby Hamtramck, which turned out to be a great place. There are a few parking spots behind the bar, otherwise it’s street parking.“

“Wonderful place to go for a special occasion. The entertainment is always top notch. The food was absolutely delicious and the entire staff at the top of their game!“
“I love the vibe created here. Last time I came was during Movement and it was so packed everyone was standing outside, which wasn’t for me. But I’m glad to have visited again so soon. I would definitely recommend getting a sorrel drink while you are there. They also have a great selection of wines most time. I always enjoy catching a DJ set while I’m there. I’m gonna bring my vinyls next time to see if I can sneak on for a 30 minute set.“
“It was our first time here, and we were not disappointed. The whole aesthetic was great, and all the posters, wall hangings, and art were awesome. It shows they've put on a lot of shows as they have a whole system down so we could get in quickly. The staff was very friendly and made great jack & cokes. I was also very pleased we had inadvertently discovered another pro-woman, pro-LGTBQ+ business. We had an excellent time, and we will be back“

“If you love history, this place will not disappoint. Awesome views from the rooftop and the fireplace on a cold evening was the perfect place to have a cocktail. Make a reservation! Must visit if out with friends and you want a cool location to hang!!!“
“This place is a time capsule to a simpler era. The decor is a hodgepodge of kitsch and nostalgia, the jukebox is stuck in the 80s, and the bartender has seen it all. The drinks are cheap and the clientele is a colorful mix of regulars and lost souls. It's the kind of place where you can get into a deep conversation with a stranger about the meaning of life or the best way to fry an egg.“

“I celebrated my birthday at the high bar over the weekend and had an excellent time! Although we only ordered drinks, the service was spectacular and the atmosphere was unlike any other restaurant. Beautiful presentation of our beverages as well! Would love to return for dinner sometime.“
“The crowd is nice on Thursday- Sundays , security plenty of parking and nice birthday party events. The drinks are reasonable and the waitresses be on their job. Like a cheers atmosphere you wanna go where everyone knows your name. Ms Krystal is sweet and loving and people be dressed to impress there. TV's seating 💺 ♥️ people call it a "hole in the wall" but those same people be in attendance "lol They come from all over the city to this place you must get there early on Sunday nights cause DJ Tony Rome be on hot blazing 🔥 fire. Dance, entertainment etc. Everytime my out of town guest / sweetheart comes to visit Detroit she has to come there before she leaves its a must.“

“Beer selection is great - Much wider and deeper on the European choices (Belgians/Germans) than anywhere else I've seen locally and this is primarily what keeps us coming back, but the old-style wood room and the laid back atmosphere are great too. You could say divey or hipster, but also all-inclusive. Usually good more-modern indie music playlist which is appreciated. Chris was a great bartender but I think he's unfortunately moved on, will be missed. Spacious covered patio out back is good for smokers & has some fun games (cornhole, connect4, etc). Beware - the Peanuts are addictive!“

“This place is a gem, albeit a small one. However, if you find yourself in the area it is most definitely worth checking out. Seemingly authentic Japanese brews along with some fusion-y food dishes. All the food we tried was exceptional, but the wagyu hot dogs were imo the best meat in tube form I’ve ever had. Sushi hot dog and balls were also phenomenal.“

“Friendly atmosphere superb service and delicious food!“
“A group of about 10 of us stopped in on a Monday for happy hour - there was a nice crowd, music was playing, sparsely decorated. They have a great patio right on Woodward which is why we came, but it ended up raining. Although only one bartender was working, cocktails came out fast and tasted fresh and good. They have an interesting n/a mocktail made with homemade cordial and soda - I didn't try it this time, but it's good to know they have an option other than soda and lime. The aperol spritz looked good as did the spicy margarita. A good place to catch a quick drink.
They have an interesting food menu - sushi during the day and late night, and bbq for dinner. Maybe a little odd, but I remember when this place was Oslo and had the best sushi, so maybe it makes sense? I'll have to come back to try the food. Everyone working has also been really friendly, so I'd come back. An excellent location if you work downtown.“

“I was a first timer. I live 58 minutes outside of the city. I walked in and was skeptical on the entire place. Full of random pictures of musicians. So I Looked up what the place was about after we got in.. And boy Howdy, what a history on the place. From walking in and greeted by Charles, the Bouncer/host/busier, amazing person, was a rock star! To then asking if Larry the owner was there; and HE WAS!!! They make you feel as family! I would support them 150% in the inner city, everyone there is something special. I’d love to talk with Charles more, and Larry; WOW! What a cool guy! I just love it. I’ll be back for sure! 10/5 stars for them!“

“Super cool bar in the Book Tower lobby! The open seating fits so well in the space and is a beautiful setting to enjoy a drink. To my pleasant surprise, they had a non-alcoholic espresso martini and it was AMAZING! We will definitely be making this one of our go-to spots for a casual drink downtown.“

“We came at 11pm on a busy Saturday night and we were seated almost immediately. It was a little loud but to be expected on late night weekend. For drinks I ordered the Friend of A Friend, 10/10 for sure. We ordered the garlic knots and got the grandma, pesto, and meatzza pizzas. The Pesto was definitely the star of the evening. Our server Paige was awesome and made us feel right at home. Would gladly come again.“

“My favorite place to sing a song and enjoy randoms that are kind. This bar is kind of a dive but not really. You will drive passed it and think it’s a biker bar, but it’s not. It’s very chill and I’ve never had a bad experience here. Come here and chill.“
“Top class saloon I absolutely love coming to. Live bands, whiskey is never a bad thing, and everyone working here is always very welcoming. If you've never been here, you're missing out!“

“The food is delicious and the service is fantastic! My only complaint is how loud the place has become. Not too long ago, it was more of a restaurant than a bar. Lately, however, it has become more like a noisy college bar than a restaurant. I still plan on coming here once in a while.“
