“I only had a sandwich and some mozzarella sticks but those were good and other people seemed happy with their meals - but mostly here to say the atmosphere / service at this place is unmatched. Amy & Heather who I got the opportunity to have as bartenders and servers both times I came (and they’re sisters! How fun) both went beyond the call of normal service. This place was the closest nearby spot to an emergency vet I took my dog to after an attack. I was obviously a bit solemn when I came in the first time for lunch and immediately they asked me if I was okay and both came around the bar to hug me when tears started welling and listened to my story and showed so much care and compassion for my poor doggy. When I came back a week later they recognized me IMMEDIATELY and asked how my boy was doing and were overjoyed when I said he’s healing well and getting stitched up today. I also wanted to come back to get their names just so I could be sure to mention them by name in a review because they certainly deserve it. Outside of that, clearly they (and the rest of the staff here) have compassion and familiarity with mostly everyone who walked in the door. They impressively remembered names, usual orders, and asked specific questions about peoples’ lives (and I was sitting at the bar for a long time while I waited for my dog both times and got to witness LOTS of interactions) - all were overwhelmingly positive. I love love LOVE this place. I live in Detroit and rarely come to the suburbs unless I need to - but I might have to start making Mr. Joe’s a regular stop ❤️❤️❤️❤️“

“Makenzie the bartender is the best there is!! She was great, friendly, and super helpful. I got the wonton tacos and a bourbon street chicken and shrimp and they were delicious. I would recommend coming to this location to all my friends and family. The staff is so nice and considerate.“

“Today I went in to order a carryout. I ordered a Grilled Shrimp Salad and asked for a side order of Grilled chicken with raspberry vinegarette dressing. Should have checked order. When I got home I had the salad with no Grilled shrimp and a side order of Grilled chicken. I called and lady told me that when you order grillled shrimp salad it's either with shrimp or chicken! How is that a grillled shrimp salad then? They only charged the $19 for salad but receipt said grillled shrimp salad under that was grillled chicken and the dressing. Guess I wasn't charged for the extra side of grillled chicken but I got no grillled shrimp. I was disappointed.“

“I have read some of the other reviews about this restaurant. This is my review. Yes, at times it can get busy, and it may affect the service time some, However, how many restaurants have been having problems with staffing shortages and such? Everything, everywhere now a days takes some patience. I say this as being a customer and a public servant.

In saying that, once approached by a server and or bar tender, I have always received good service.

Most of the time I go there, I go to the bar. A Bartender, named Noir seems to always be there. Not just with my orders, but I watch her interact with other customers as well. Some of them are not so nice or have a bad disposition. Despite how many people she is servicing at a time, she always pays attention to customers' orders and has a good/friendly disposition when talking to customers. That I appreciate. It keeps the atmosphere pleasant. It keeps me coming back for well over 15 years now. I think these guys up there do their best in contending with the public despite all the pressure they are under.

Lastly, I must say that both Noir and Ms. Carr do a good job in de-escalating many situations with customers that I have seen occur. They may not win every situation, because I have seen people leave out in the middle of a meal for whatever reason, but they try really hard.“

“We held our private event in the enclosed patio at Firebird in Troy. The patio was heated and decorated to look like a lodge. All of our guests felt like they were in a homey environment. The food and the service was impeccable. Our guests were so pleased at the attention to detail and the promptness of the serving staff. The event manager, Jenna, made the entire planning process easy and stress free. She helped us set up our buffet menu and was there day of assisting in decorating and making sure everything was in order. I would highly recommend hosting a private event here and plan to do so myself for future events!“

“This place has great food, better then some pricier restaurants I've been too.

Parking: The parking here can be tricky the parking lot is really small so you either have to fight for a spot or park at one of the trip malls nearby and walk over which isn't too far.

Kid-friendliness: Kids like it here, and I've seen kids sports teams go here.

Wheelchair accessibility: Difficult if you are in a wheelchair. I've seen people in the electric wheel chairs struggle to get through. The furniture is large and not easy to push out of the way for someone whose mobility is different.“

“We were just coming in for a nightcap and found this place. From the outside, we thought it was your average bar until we looked at the menu. They offer Eastern European burek (meat / cheese philo pies) and cevapi (minced meat sausages). The food was prepared with care, came out fresh, and hot. They were also very generous with the feta cheese (and you can tell it was authentic / real feta). The presentation also exceeded my expectations for bar food. It was then that I noticed the interior of the bar was absolutely spotless and clean. The staff were very nice, and we enjoyed playing darts and pool. Definitely added to my go-to spots for a late night drink and good food.“

“The Hideout shocked me, i drove by for many years and figured it was a hole/little bar. When I walked in the interior was very nice. So the business end of the review, i had a cheeseburger with grilled onions and it was so darn good I was shocked. I came back the following night it was so good hoping they could replicate it, im not here for the drinks but the cheeseburger! Once again the chef comes through with a home run. Ill be back tomorrow or the next day, its that good and its of tremendous value, im not sure how they do it. The place is a gem!“

“Well, this is your typical somewhat hole in the wall bar, although a little more upscale than that.

The food typically is pretty good. The service not so much.

I probably should have given a little higher score for atmosphere.

My two biggest issues. The relatively minor, but annoying.
First, for most things other than fries there's an upcharge, about three bucks. But they don't tell you that typically, even when you ask
The other problem is they have begun charging a credit card surcharge. They are required by law to post notice of that, prominently displayed, and to let you know about it. But they don't do it.
Those two things are off putting.
Overall, though, reasonably good place.

I’ve been a regular at CJ Mahoney’s for the past few months, enjoying Saturday lunches with a friend. Every visit has been a delight thanks to the consistently great service and delicious food.

The food arrives promptly, and I appreciate the consistent quality of my regular order. It tastes just as good every time. The restaurant itself is clean and has a pleasant atmosphere. Plus, the location is convenient.

“I came to this place about a month ago during a lunch break.The person that I was working with said that he attempted to find the best burger in Detroit. He said that this was the best place that he had found so far. While I don't know if it's the best, it was a damn good burger. It was nice and juicy with lots of flavor. It was also shaped well too, which doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but when you are eating a burger and you can't get a good grip, it becomes an issue.The patty melt was also very good. I got waffle fries with each of the burgers that I ordered and they were very good.The waitress was on point and the prices were very reasonable.The atmosphere is very upbeat as well. While it is sort of a blue collar feel, it seemed like a very fun place. There is also a patio outside.Overall, this place is very well-rounded. Great food and great vibes.“
