“I have lived in this area for a long time and seen countless restaurants try and fail to make this building work and it for a while was generally regarded to be a cursed location.I moved away 3 years ago but was diving by and noticed it wasn't the old BBQ place (which was half decent). Stopped in and picked up some tamales to go (pollo verde and birria). They had some ready right by the door so it was easy in/out. Reheated great and really hit the spot.I think I'll be going out of my way to come back here.“
“Wow...what an IMPRESSIVE dining experience! It's been a long time since we have enjoyed a night out so much. Food 'Molcajete Mexicano' was packed full of flavor and Jorge (bar tender) who waited on us was EXCEPTIONALLY kind; made us feel more like family vs patrons. And the margarita 'Texas Jumbo' was super delish! All of the staff we encountered were incredibly gracious and prompt to respond to any request. We will be back! Bravo El Loro!“
“What a great find! The salsa had a little heat which is a nice change from all the other Mexican places. The steak street tacos were great! My husband had the chicken burritos and he said they had good flavor and plenty of food on the plate. The menu is extensive and there was a board as we walked in with new items. Make sure to leave room for the tres leche cake! Best I've ever had, nice and moist. Our waitress was fantastic, lived her recommendations! Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.“
“We tried this place for the first time tonight and were impressed! We tried asada burritos, chips and queso, and elote. The food was delicious and there was lots of it! The owners were so friendly, kind, and accommodating. We will definitely be back!“
“This has become my favorite coffee shop. Run by a wonderful family. Excellent coffee and other beverages. The spicy Mexican hot chocolate is terrific. I also enjoy the latte and the cappuccino. Baked goods are divine - I especially love the oat bread and the banana bread. Although I have not sampled yet there are also breakfast and lunch items that I can see are popular. Compact seating area that is comfortable and the noise level moderate.“
“I'm a fierce and loyal Mexican foodie. I'll drive or walk thousands of miles for an excellent taco, burrito, etc. ENTER el taco riendo. Recommended by one of the workers at a thrift store daughter and I shopped at. Off we go! Wow! First, it's literally a hole in the wall and man, I'm feeling lucky! Always, always the best places! We order and of course, over order. The guacamole is chunky with tomatoes, garlic and cilantro-the avocado flavor is perfectly balanced! Smooth taste with the obvious homemade chips! SWOON! My tostado is Mexican style with onions, cilantro and Carne. The meat is uber tender and falls apart in my mouth as it melds with the corn tortilla and other ingredients. The taco? ☺️ WOW. the best one I had was at a beach shack on cozumel. This is 2nd. Again, Mexican style. The onions don't overpower the rest and never leaves a hot taste. THE SALSA? 2 kinds. The red one is a soft burn (like LA Estrella) but stays foe your next bite. The green is mild and feel your tongue do a happy dance! My Modelo Especial was icy cold-PERFECT! Daughters tamale was soft, doughy and so flavorful with the chicken it was insane (at least she shared unlike hubby). This place may look shabby but it's very clean. The service is quick and food is inexpensive. We ordered a boatload of food and it was a total of 30.00!!!! If you're a Mexican food snob, this place will NOT disappoint!“
“My hubby and I have been looking for a great quality Mexican restaurant ever since Monterrey closed years ago. Nothing has lived up to our expectations… Well, I think we have finally found a winner! Excellent food, service and margaritas. Highly recommend!“
“I've been insanely impressed by this place - tacos, birria, queso, tamales and more have all been amazing. Unfortunately I've been let down by some bad Mexican food in Minneapolis, but Charrito Lindo did not disappoint. Can't recommend highly enough“
“Delicious food and very nice decor glad i went there ? didn't know how to pronounce the thing I had there the first time I did this review but it's so happened to pop up on the screen and it was very delicious all I know is I call him fried tacos the posted the photo of them so good place nice environment. “
“The place doesn't look much from the front, but the atmosphere is actually quite nice once you walk down the hallway (passing the glass wall behind the bar) and into the main restaurant. On warmer days, the patio looks like it would be an excellent place to hang out. The main part of their menu looked like a build-it-yourself type of thing. Pick tacos, burrito, quesadilla, etc. Then you can pick your protein, style, and sauce. I ended up choosing a Burrito Bowl with Carnitas Street Style. The food tasted great. It was obviously made with fresh ingredients. I was surprised later when I looked at the menu again and saw that it cost me an extra dollar to get the Burrito Bowl, thus saving them the tortilla. I wish the waiter would have mentioned the up charge, although I probably would have gotten the bowl anyway. As I do at most Mexican restaurants -- well, all restaurants -- I got an unsweetened iced tea. Much to my surprise, they charge for tea by the glass. No refills. Again, mentioning this when ordering would have been helpful. Personally, I have trouble paying $4 for iced tea in my at Starbucks... but at least I get free refills. Here, the glasses were much smaller, and again, no refills. At least the tea here tasted good. They checked me out tableside using ApplePay, which was nice. I didn't get an itemized bill. And I'm not quite sure if they tacked on a gratuity or not. Unlike normal, they didn't turn the POS terminal around and ask me to enter a tip amount. Bottom line... not sure if I will go back or not. The food was good. So was the atmosphere. The food was reasonably priced. What may keep me away is that each tiny glass of ice tea (tiny, by my standards) is $4.“
“Fresh friendly and delicious. Street or listo style tacos. This is a go-to lunch spot for me and my office mates. Dine in or take out...they also deliver for groups in the office. Can say enough good things about the service and the delicous tacos!“
“Went to try the birria tacos. Our group decided to share a few items for more variety. Had never had pupusas, we tried three flavors. Birria tacos were amazing. Pupusa were also very good, liked adding the slaw and sauce for more depth. The flautas were huge servings. Beans were the best I’ve had in the cities. Tasted just like my friends moms beans from Mexico. Ended the evening with the churro which were also incredible. Fresh with a hot sweet center. Great prices, very clean and inviting sit down restaurant and couldn’t beat the service. Beautiful back drop for photos at the front. Can’t wait to come back.“
“So glad I found this place -good food, reasonable prices, large serving sizes. The chips are not overly greasy or salty rather they are just right.Dietary restrictions: I am trying to watch my salt intake and I felt everything I ate fit into that restriction.“
“This place looks like your typical Latin American restaurant, but it's secretly better!First of all, the staff are incredible! This is likely because it's a family-owned and operated restaurant rather than a chain. For example, one time they accidentally made too many margaritas, so we got some free drinks without even asking!Secondly, the menu here is more diverse than your typical Latin American restaurant. For example, this is the first time I've had a whole grilled Tilapia (the Mojarra Frita) since I was in Guatemala, and it was fantastic! The dish may look intimidating/unsightly to the average American, but trust me, it's delicious!Third, the prices are reasonable. The only "downside" is that the restaurant ambiance/atmosphere is just average, which really isn't that big of a downside.Parking: Large, free parking lot.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair parking available.“
“Everything we ordered is AMAZING! Food came out hot and fresh. half shells Oysters and the oysters shots were fresh and DELICIOUS! The shrimp Carm.. Diablo is flavorful. My husband had their chicken quesadilla and he said it’s probably the best quesadilla he’s ever had. Haven’t had Mexican food this good in a really really long time. Probably the best I had in Mn. Definitely going to come back and try out other items.“
“The other day I had an issue with my DoorDash delivery of my food. Long story short….Alex the Manager at the Roseville LaCasita, went above and beyond!! And I do mean above and beyond!! He was personable, happy, genuinely wanted to help and he did resolve the issue; with a great attitude!! A lot of times now a days, it’s hard to even get some employees anywhere to say hi to you or even smile. Let alone to even want to work!! Alex is definitely the exception. La Casita, you have the best employee ever and with his work ethic, you are very lucky to have him! Please acknowledge him. I think it’s time for a raise Alex!?. Thank you sooo much!Pam“
“The food is amazing. We eat here whenever we can or want Mexican food best Mexican food around. if you call ahead, make sure you are calling the correct location. This one is located off of 65 in the gas station. I believe it’s considered ham Lake.“
“Excelente atención agradable ambiente... Comida muy buena ...la comida peruana muy buena...la chicha sour excelente...mención especial al Cheff Peruano Raúl Jacobi...preservando los auténticos sabores peruanos... 100 % recomendado...no se arrepentirán...y la Anfitriona y dueña le Restaurant Monica1,000 puntos a su personalidad y atención personalizada...“
“I made an impulse stop at the Central Ave location when I was running errands in the area a few months ago. Everything is so good...the ingredients are fresh, and the service is always super fast. I've been back several more times and am always impressed.“
“Great food. Appeared to be made fresh and with high quality ingredients.Staff was by no means rude, but didn't go out of their way to earn any extra points. Atmosphere was fine, nothing special.Overall a very positive experience. Will definitely be back again.“
“My coworkers and I pop in here when we meet up for drinks after work. The food is solid and the drinks are always good. It's kinda hidden where it is right now, but with the buildings that are popping up around it it should get more traction. They have a patio for the summer and a clean space to eat and drink inside.“
“This restaurant is such a hidden gem in White Bear Lake. Staff is attentive, friendly, and hard working. The food was great, and they accommodated our large group wonderfully, in such short notice. Support your local business, you won't be disappointed!“
“Don Julio’s is our absolute favorite Mexican restaurant! They have awesome complimentary chips and salsa. The Texas margarita is absolutely delicious. We always get the chimichangas because they are AMAZING. They come smothered in queso, which is quite honestly the best queso I’ve ever had! The service is always great and very speedy.“
“Been to this place several times and it has never disappointed when I'm craving Latin cuisine. The service is spectacular and give great suggestions if you want to try somewhere new. Can be a bit loud at night and unfortunately for our server and my kiddos it was a bit embarrassing to have some fifty year olds talking like sailors yelling orders at the poor server. We gave her a big tip and she said it made her night. She apologized for those guests. Was not her fault at all as she did a wonderful job. Ambiance is pretty much like every other bar and Latin restaurant. The chips and salsa are ok as the salsa is not my favorite, but that is the only thing that is mediocre. It's also complementary so can you really complain lol? My go to is the carnitas which is so full of flavor and absolutely delicious. This time I went with on a suggestion by our server the Sopes. They let me pic a couple different meats to top it too. I went with the Al pastor and birria shredded beef. Absolutely lovely and the pineapple in the Al pastor was so fresh. Amazing! My wife got the ceviche and said the flavor was good and her only complaint was that the shrimp was over cooked. So a bit of a downer their and not raw fish like most. So ok but not their best. My mother in law got camarones your way with the spicy sauce. This if you like spice it was a home run. Delicious flavor and large quantities of everything. Very good. My son got the carne asada burrito and it was huge. He loved it. His only complaint (he could live off beans) was that there was not enough beans. He said it would also be better if they were black beans instead of refried. My little 8 year old food critic lol. No joke of you are looking for good quality Latin food that is reasonably priced this is a great place to go. Never been disappointed.“
“Pretty good food! Most items on the menu were the same standard selections you see at every Mexican restaurant. I asked for suggestions and they recommended the burrito or chicken torta. I went for the torta and wasn't disappointed. Tasty and fairly filling. Service was quick and staff was friendly. The building is an interesting layout. The bathrooms are down the hall in the basement and there is an attached grocery store with a very limited selection of items. Like just the essentials and some candy. Prices are reasonable too.“
“Excellent experience and walked in and sat down very friendly and fast service food was soo delicious and the atmosphere was awesome..will be back with family and friends soon..another note outback steak house across the street sucks..don't go “
“The food is very good. However today, 4-12-24; There is an older gentleman on a cane. They were mopping the floor all around him.Despite the good food, they made it very unsafe for this older gentleman. Why would they actually mop the floor when there's a disabled person who's obviously having trouble walking. Was this person supposed to sit there for 2 hours while the floor dried??It was really rude and inconsiderate. When he left he was very nervous it was grabbing tables to hang on to walking on a wet floor.“
“Went today for lunch.Even though they were very busy and understaffed, everything kept moving and no one had to wait too long for service.I was really impressed with thier organization and how every client was taken care of.And I love the food. :)“
“Definitely check this place out! We've been here a couple of time, always in the winter for some reason, and have never been let down! The service from the hostess, to the servers, the bartenders and the manager Travis that checked in on us were all extremely friendly and accommodating as we had our 3 little ones with us. This bar/restaurant has a very cozy and warm feeling (I absolutely love being able to take my coat off and not freeze in a restaurant in Minnesota winters). There is an awesome wood burning fireplace that really adds to it's charm. If that's not enough there's a large selection of local artwork throughout each room. There's a huge outdoor patio for all your warmer weather dining needs and it is dog friendly! Rumor has it this summer they will be offering a doggy menu for possible "Yappy Hour"specials!Back to the food, it's amazing! The menu is the perfect size to offer a great variety without compromising quality and taste. We had the 100% Angus burgers that were cooked to perfection and served with perfectly seasoned fries. The buffalo wing appetizers were cooked to have a slightly crispy outside and juicy inside without being sloppy like other wing establishments. We didn't have the fajitas but saw and smelled multiple orders of them whiz by us and will definitely be back to try them. There are plenty of beers on tap and a full bar that will have anything you might have a taste for. I had a blood orange margarita and it was spot on! Coincidentally that happens to be the only picture I took of our meal.“
“This wonderful little neighborhood Mexican restaurant is a gem! Melt in your mouth carnitas with just a little char. Enchiladas with density and green sauce was excellent. Their guacamole was tops. Margaritas were 2 for 1s when we went and were great. My portion size was huge and a good value. Lunch tomorrow! I’ll be back again and again. Lucky to have you in Spring Lake Park!“
“Food tasted fine, but lacks inspiration. Very cheesy. Literally lol. Nothing really sets it apart from other Mexican restaurants. Takeout packaging could use less plastic.Inside decor is fun and colorful. Staff is courteous and quick. I got my takeout order within 10 minutes.“
“The prices here are very good and they have a good variety of options available (including ground beef tacos which most taco trucks don't have). The 3 meats I tried (steak, chorizo and ground beef) all tasted good but in my opinion, there are better options available nearby in the taste department. The super hot sauce (pictured) is amazing though. I love spicy food and this really made the tacos taste great. If the meat was better, it would have been perfect!I got 5 tacos and 2 Mexican Cokes for $21 so pretty cheap compared to other places.“
“So I walked into the place and looked at the menu and set up and immediately my mind was like because I can't leave a restaurant that I've already walked into. BUT I am so glad that I ended up ordering. The set up is assembly like chipotle, but the food actually has flavor and taste unlike chipotle. For some reason they sell boba which was unexpected but it was pretty good. Mangonada was good too. Birria was so so but all in all it was a nice find for north suburbs. Very chill and clean place with a patio.“
“The Cheese Chilito from Zantigos probably shouldn't be considered a health food but somehow it makes everything better. As a high school student in the 80's, it cured adolescent anxiety and relieved the stress teenagers feel when trying to move into adulthood. As a young mother, pregnant with a 2nd child, it completely cured morning sickness any time of the day. Now, I am finding that medical tests are less difficult if followed by a Chilito. I don't know what Zantigos does or what ingredients they use, but no one can replicate their Chilito. It seems so simple but this combination of cheese and meat on a thin tortilla and heated into a gooey tube is perfection.“
“Miss this place. Before covid it was 99 cent tacos on Tuesdays. Good stuff. After covid they raised their prices like everyone else (but also bought new huge TV screens to replace the cooler handwritten menu) but Tacos still tasty. Burritos too. Soda machine was broken a lot though.“
“I would say this is one of the best taco/burrito food truck in the STP,Maplewood,Oakdale area.I have tried most of them all and alway come back to this one.The steak are actual steaks, not ground beef, it has flavor and you can actually taste the flavor in the sauce.“
“Finally got to try this place after my family kept raving about it. The food was very delicious, and portion size was large and filling. The horchata and flan were excellent. The service was great as well. I can't wait to come back!!“
“Great Barirra’s, this is a favorite of mine, they don’t skimp on the shredded beef, like some places, if you like Mexican food and are in Minnesota, this is a must try. Bringing a desire for Taco Tuesday back weekly. Delicious! See videos “
“Food is good, not amazing. I had ordered 3 tacos of Legua (beef tounge) nd carne asada maybe it was their salsa that did not impress my taste buds but overall wasn't a bad taco experience. I'd come back to try other things on the menu. The place is spacious, I got the vibe that it's more of a late night date /hang.“
“Well seasoned. Meat was a little dry but the marination was top notch. Tacos held together well, there was an average amount of meat for the price, mild salsa was stellar and the limes weren't too dry. I kept looking at my takeout box on the drive back home because it smelled so good. This is not inside the gas station as Google might make you believe. This is a truck to the side. Signage could be more visible. There is one bench and one table in the area. Very much a takeout place. I would come here more often when I'm in the area.“
“Man, to say I love what this place does would be an understatement food is always amazing and the staff is very dedicated to what they do❤️Parking: Just pull right up to the door and walk inKid-friendliness: The atmosphere is very colorful and there is always uptempo music playingWheelchair accessibility: You can roll right in as long as someone holds the door?“
“I highly recommend this restaurant! They have fast and efficient service with incredibly delicious food. When I go to the mall I already know that I’m going to head here for some huaraches, taco tortas, and fresh watermelon water. I definitely recommend this place to everyone who likes great food!“
“Nice small place, has a bar section and high tables. TVs were playing the superbowl. Noise volume was good, not to loud but able to hear it.Our server was great. She was attentive and made our dining experience nice. Substitution is available from the menu, just a little up charge. Free chips and salsa.Food was decent, felt a little dry but priced good. Both dishes were below $15.00 each and good portion. Recommend it for a nice meal.“
“I am a Carnitas (pork) Burrito Nacional fan for many years. I’ve been trying other entrees to expand my palate but having a pork Burrito Nacional is like coming home! Delicious pork inside! My dining pal enjoyed the giant Wet Burrito with shredded beef.“
“Brito’s in Monticello is fantastic. Each burrito comes with a warm, homemade tortilla. The portions are huge and all the toppings are fresh and delicious. The service is fast and the price is super reasonable. Better than Chipotle, Q’doba or Bluestone! My husband and I are obsessed- we go here all the time and are never disappointed!“
