“The other week, I was in the northern metro suburbs and started to get hungry. I drove past Sarna's Grill in Columbia Heights and, judging by the building's welcoming appearance, decided to park and give it a try (though I know that doesn't necessarily mean the food or service will be good).\n\nThat said, my decision was bolstered by the spacious, inviting interior, wide aisles, booths filled with couples and families, and the waitstaff delivering trays of appetizing food.\n\nA friendly waitperson greeted me at my table and offered me a menu with a variety of options, from burgers and salads to complete meals, including pasta and hot turkey or beef.\n\nI chose the BLT on artisan whole wheat with a side of coleslaw. It looked so tempting that I took a bite of half the sandwich before realizing I hadn't taken a picture of the food. What you see in the attached image is the mouth-watering inside of the delicious BLT.\n\nAs it turned out, I had an hour to kill. After finishing my meal, I asked if I could hang out for a while. The friendly waitperson said I could stay as long as I wanted and brought me a cup of coffee to pass the time.\n\nThat kindness made my day and earned her a nice tip. Plus, I promised to return the next time I'm in the neighborhood.“

“It's Taco Tuesday and I was craving Mexican food, but I didn't just wanna go to the type of place you think of when "Mexican" is brought up... I'm fancy, so I wanted something a bit more upscale. I did a little bit of research and wouldn't you know it... Colita came up. So here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set south of downtown and a bit west of The Mall of America on Penn Avenue is this gem. There is no private parking lot, but plenty of street parking to leave your fly ride. But once you walk up to the restaurant you can immediately understand the message they're trying to send. Everything looks so modern, straightforward with straight lines, grey colors and light woods. There is a small outdoor section where you can dine if you get lucky enough to land a spot there. Inside carries a very similar style with a little nod to the pueblos and architecture of the southwest. The decor is minimalistic and the "loudest" thing in the room is the live plant wall seated directly behind the bar, which was super cool. Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but we had no issues whatsoever. Food/Drink: I was able to try so many different dishes and drinks here and the list is below... 🍹: Xochitl In Love 🍸: La Clandestina 🐟: Tuna Tostada 🌮: Chicken Tinga Tostada 🦪: Seared Scallops 🫓: Tlayuda 🥃: Colita Old Fashioned 🥩: Lamb Barbacoa Tacos 🫔: Duck Tamal However, my favorite things were the Lamb Barbacoa Tacos, Duck Tamal and Seared Scallops, in that order. The food here is phenomenal, the drinks are excellently crafted and things are served tapas style so you don't get too full off of just one thing! Order a whole bunch of stuff and share with the table! Value: As I mentioned earlier, I wanted upscale and the priced dddooo reflect that. Lol. This is a nice place so be prepared to spend... Like you're downtown somewhere. In conclusion, I loved this place and I will come back over and over. Check this place out the next time you're in the area!“

“My kids just treated me to a birthday dinner at Italian Eatery! It was a fantastic experience all the way around - food, service, and atmosphere. “We held our company Christmas Party at their beautiful restaurant and had such a great time! The staff were so attentive and wonderful to interact with throughout the whole evening! We ordered an array of food and our employees couldn’t stop talking about how fantastic the prime rib and KFC (Korean fried cauliflower) were! The talk around the shop about this event and the delicious food went on for days! We all had such a great experience from start to finish. They made it so easy to plan, set up, host and tear down. We would highly recommend anyone looking to host a party to come here! Now if you are just looking for a bite to eat for a date night or family night out, they also have you covered. “This place is not inexpensive; but the food is worth every single penny. It’s unique, it’s vegan, it’s delicious, and it’s healthy. The atmosphere is very comfortable. (although the music was a little bit loud for conversation). I shared the cauliflower tacos and hummus plate and we each had a glass of wine and took the yummy yummy yummy yummy yummy cheesecake home (the cheesecake seemed expensive at the time; but I will purchase it again and again. Every taste was Yum Yum Yum Yum.). a lot of times when I go out to eat I think; I could’ve saved money and just ate at home. However, I truly felt my money was well spent! The food was fresh. Very tasty. The arugula salad was phenomenal, even though it was very simple. I need to come back here way more often. Thank you very much for your dedication to healthy, tasty, vegan food. “An absolutely incredible dining experience

Sanjusan was one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in Minneapolis. We went as a group and decided to order almost one of everything on the menu so we could all try as much as possible, and honestly, I don’t think there was a single dish that disappointed.

The Japanese-Italian combination sounds unusual at first, but it works unbelievably well. Every dish had its own unique flavors and textures, and it was so much fun having the entire table try everything together. The small plates, yakitori, pasta, and pizzas were all fantastic.

The Isaac Becker pizza was one of the biggest surprises for me, and the Mentaiko Lumache was another standout. The Hiramasa crudo, pork gyoza, duck tataki, and yakitori were all incredible as well. Even after ordering that much food, we kept finding ourselves saying, “We have to try that too.”

The staff were just as impressive as the food. Everyone was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely excited to walk us through the menu. With a menu this creative, having staff who can actually explain the dishes and make recommendations makes a huge difference.

The atmosphere is fantastic too. It’s stylish, intimate, energetic, and just feels like a place where you’re supposed to sit around with friends, order a bunch of things, and enjoy the entire experience rather than rush through dinner.

Sanjusan absolutely exceeded my expectations. The food is creative without being gimmicky, the service is outstanding, and ordering almost the entire menu with a group turned dinner into an experience we’ll be talking about for a long time.

“They have great food with tons of vegan options and a wonderful patio! Today I ordered my favorite dish a roti wrap and it accidentally came with chicken instead of the vegan chickpea version. “Delicious wood fire pizza. Perfect ratio of cheese, sauce (homemade!) and flavorful toppings. A thin but soft crust. Service was quick and everything was fresh andready as the text alerted indicated. It's a take out only somewhat rustic-hipster joint though there are some picnic benches outside. Would recommend!“
