“Stopped in for a late lunch on the patio. Was interested in a bitters & soda and the server recommended mixing the rhubarb and cardamom, which was delicious and refreshing. Followed that with the Chix Correa sandwich and a side salad. Wow! Really creative flavors and well-executed. Could tell everything was made from scratch and with high quality ingredients and care. “-Vinai MN- My friend and I wanted to try Chef Yia's restaurant due to being homesick and wanting hmong food. We were met with such great service and sat where we could see the work area. Chef Yia was so kind and started us off with a complimentary appetizer, rice Curry balls. We ordered and the food came so fast. As soon as I took a bite, my eyes started to get teary because it tasted like food from home. I started fanning myself to not cry which Chef Yia saw and asked if the food was too spicy. We then started to explain that we were not from MN and were feeling a bit homesick and how the food reminded us of home. Chef Yia then said, here let's do this. He returned with a pot of beef soup that consisted of mushrooms, bamboo shoots, beef and green onion and white rice and shared that this dish was one of those dishes that we would eat at gathering and events. We we so shocked and so at loss with his kindness and compassion. We both took a bite and immediately lighted up. It tasted like my mom's cooking 💓. As we were nearing the end of our meal, Chef Yia told us not to stuff ourselves too full and surprised us with a complimentary dessert which further awed us. We were so lost at words for Chef Yia's kindness, generosity and comfort. We chose the Lava Cake and it was soooo good! I normally don't like sweets but we devoured this 😋. 1000/10 would recommend.“

“I hosted a welcome drinks event for ~80 guests at Norseman the night before my wedding and was incredibly impressed by the quality of the service, drinks, and overall atmosphere. We had originally reserved the outdoor patio space, but unexpected sideways rain forced us indoors. The staff at Norseman was exceptionally gracious and accommodating and helped us transition inside, which we all greatly appreciated.

Our guests had a wonderful time, and many commented on how much they enjoyed the DJ and the overall experience. I would highly recommend Norseman for any private event, and I'm confident both my husband and I (and many of our guests!) will be back in the future.“

“We visited Herbst for our wedding anniversary date this year and had a great experience! We got a complimentary prosecco toast to kick things off. I got a signature cocktail that was gin based and had great flavor! Green beans (8/10), Arrabiata pasta (9/10), bread w bone marrow marmalade (7/10 - we would’ve skipped the marmalade), pork chop (8/10), mushroom chicken (10/10). We enjoyed the fresh ingredients in everything! We’d likely come back here again, as the menu rotates often.“

“Food and vibes are good! Waitress with badly lined lips is very rude. Rolled eyes when we didn’t order alcohol and said “I guess” when my mother (who has memory issues and was there celebrating her birthday) asked for ice water. Then yelled at her (literally) for grabbing a pitcher of water off an empty table. Never checked on us once. The guy delivering the food gave a better experience just dropping it off than we had with her the entire time. I waited table for fifteen years and never once rolled my eyes at someone. Her tone and facial expressions were beyond rude. If she can’t act like she’s nice she might need a new job. The rest of the staff was BEYOND friendly so she really gave off a rotten apple vibe.“

“Flora Room is a gorgeous cocktail bar located behind and beneath Chef Del Prado's steakhouse Porzana. Fortunately, I arrived at 5:30 PM on a Saturday, which was early enough to avoid a line and a velvet rope. I don't wait in line for anything unless I'm at a pharmacy, bakery, post office, or airport. Lines at restaurants and bars strike me as pretentious or bad management, and I don't tolerate either. However, I'm old, and at my age, nothing is worth waiting for unless it's a necessity.

I found a seat at the beautiful and expansive bar and looked around at the Del Prado design. The colors might be different, but Flora was reminiscent of Minari and Noma. All three add to the Twin Cities' cachet. However, I was taken aback by the attire I saw around me. People were dressed in shorts, T-shirts, and sneakers. It's friggen Saturday night Minneapolis. Have some class!

Flora Room was a lovely cocktail lounge, perfect for wooing, but don't expect to strike up a conversation with any of the bartenders. At these Del Prado joints, the staff must be trained not to engage. I'm out alone and enjoy talking. Bartenders used to be part of a lounge's attraction when I grew up in NYC. They learned your name, knew what you did, and gave you a hearty welcome. That, I guess, is not part of the culture in Minneapolis. Well, at least not at the Del Prado restaurants and bars. Chef Del Prado is from Argentina, and certainly, Argentina is one of the warmest and friendliest countries in the world, so I don't get it. I now live up the block from the Flora Room. I'm a neighbor and would like to be treated like one. Neighborly and the Flora Room are distant concepts.“

A group of college buddies and I decided to re-create our wonderful happy hour days there under its new name, the Cabana Club.
I got there early, around 4 o'clock, to reserve a table for 6 - 8 people. They were totally unwilling to work with me, saying that they needed at least half my group to be able to give me a table. Then, when half my group showed up, they still would not give me a table for six. Make up your mind! We ended up with six people, crammed around a table for four. Not the end of the world but ...
That being said, they had a good crowd on a Tuesday night. Just keep it in mind that they won't accommodate your group unless they all show up on time. Unrealistic.
Once we had a table, our server, Matt, was outstanding. HH beer at $5 was a good deal and the HH Smash Burgers were very good. Still an outstanding location.“

“I got the Bison Back Ribs served over polenta with a gastrique (that was a new one to me). Surprising to me, the polenta and gastrique stole the spotlight. I also got to try my friend's Ribeye Bolognese. It was hard to say which was better“

OMG I could have fit both eggs on one half of the muffin and still not covered it. The ham, if that’s what you want to call it was something I’ve never seen before, thinner than bacon and tough. The hollandaise sauce was the worst. It is better in the pkg from the grocery store. Will never be back. The staff was very nice.“

The ambiance is what sets this place apart. The open dining room concept works because of what I’m assuming used to be a bank. There’s something about the architecture that gives it a completely different vibe than most Minneapolis restaurants. It doesn’t feel downtown at all—it genuinely feels like you’re in New York. That’s rare for Minneapolis.

The starter bread is fluffy and beautiful. I’d honestly recommend pairing it with the burrata appetizer. They’re a perfect match. The bread that comes with the burrata is dry and hard to chew, so definitely go with the starter bread instead. It’s honestly like a hug with the burrata. The balsamic vinegar taste on the burrata is incredible.

I got the 14oz prime ribeye cooked medium well and it was so flavorful on its own. The juiciness is unmatched. 10/10 steak.“

“While staying at the Marquette Hotel, we ordered a quick meal for pickup, and everything was delicious.

For starters, I showed up probably 10 minutes early for my pickup time, and they were ready. Definitely seems like their kitchen operates quickly!

We got the Ghost Pepper rubbed chicken wings and the Bibimbap bowl. I'm always skeptical that something advertising ghost pepper will only be a little spicy, and it's just an advertising gimmick. But these wings packed a really nice kick. The bibimbap was a nice combination of balanced flavors as well, for a really satisfying meal.

The restaurant interior looked inviting, though I concede I was only inside for a few minutes.“
