“We were here for dinner over the weekend and everything about this place was phenomenal we tried multiple things off of the to share or not portion of the menu and loved every bit of it. The whole grilled fish our waitress mentioned rotates depending on what is available fresh and it was cooked to Perfection and probably our favorite thing all weekend. The cocktail menu is unique and everything that we had the opportunity to try was delicious I highly recommend doing the cocktail flight to anybody who doesn't have a favorite spirit. Staff was incredibly friendly and knew what they were talking about if you had questions. To those looking at going here reservations are a must!!!! Great atmosphere as well“

“There are many choices in the area for casual dining, but most often we choose THIS clean, well-maintained Perkins restaurant. Our favorite 5-star server is Laurie, who remembers us, greets us with a smile and thanks us whenever we show up. “I’ve been a regular since they moved to Blaine. I ordered the lettuce wraps. The lettuce was a delicate bib lettuce and wet, huge chunks of red cabbage, large Julianne carrots. Made it impossible to eat wrapped. Told the server. She offered to get me more lettuce. No thank you. Won’t order again. The quality is not the same as when Carol owned it.“

“Great food, great service, very friendly. Date night once a week. This was the place for date night every Thursday for many years with my wife. When I brought coworkers for lunch it became at least once a week meetup till I retired. I still go as often as I can to meet friends, family and the great staff.“

“We just moved to the area and wanted to try a local spot for dinner. We ordered the chicken lo mein, chicken fried rice, orange chicken, and egg rolls, and everything was delicious! The orange chicken had a bit too much batter and was slightly overcooked, but the flavor was still great. They even threw a bag of mini donuts into our order. We will gladly be returning!“

“First time here. You order at the counter here, then food is brought out. The pancakes and sausage were fantastic! Nice little place to meet someone to catch up or stop to grab a coffee. Also have outdoor seating for the nicer days.“

“I was staying in the University of Minnesota and this place was a life saver when I did not want to eat in the dining hall. Their falafel sandwich was genuinely some of the best falafel I have ever had and their fries were undoubtedly the best fries I have ever had. The service was super quick and we got our food in under 10 minutes consistently. The staff was super friendly and the restaurant had a great atmosphere to it. Would strongly recommend if you are in the area!“

“My husband and I have been going to the blacksmith restaurant for over 40 years. The only item I have had is their chicken which is addicting. They sell more Broasted chicken than anyone else in Minnesota. All their food is great but it is their chicken for me. At least once a week I have to have it. They have a 12 piece to purchase and take out also….we have done that after eating there !!!!!!!“

“Overall great atmosphere and the food is quite good other than the fries which gave me a yucky tummy from the grease. I was shocked, however, to be charged $7 for hot tea! SEVEN DOLLARS. Seriously? It's water and a cheap tea bag. 🤨 Another reason to stick with lukewarm tap water when eating out. Also be aware that there is a 2.9% fee for using a credit card. I'm not sure if it's noted on the menu but it's on the bottom of the check.“

Original review from 2023: Long-time gems like this make the fair unique. Very friendly people and typically a much shorter line than the Hamline dining hall. The croissant on the breakfast sandwich was extremely fluffy. Everyone at our table was incredibly friendly, as were the workers, from the host to the checkout clerk. A nice relaxed respite from the chaos the rest of the fairgrounds can be.“

My son liked his salad a lot and my Rueben, while not traditional, was tasty. I was sadly less than impressed with the Maple Bacon Brussels I got with my sandwich and let Andrea know. She let her manager know right away and they both were SO kind and thanked me for letting them know my concerns. They offered us a piece of chocolate cake (which was super yummy!) to make up for the side not being so great. Amazing customer service! We will be back!“
