“Very cute coffee shop and restaurant. They were friendly, the service was quick, and the beet Reuben was fantastic. My wife got a breakfast sandwich on a really nice gluten free English muffin. All around a good experience. We got coffee at nearby Tact coffee roasters, but next time would probably get one here, I think they use the Tact's beans.“

“My favorite coffee shop in town. Lovely baristas who know my order before I even get to the counter. My child is always so excited to go there on the weekends. Plus, their dedication to kindness, justice, and inclusiveness in our community is inspiring.“
“The beverages are very good and the eats are delicious! Also the cats in the Den are awesome. And, one more thing, the decor is nothing short of amazing!“

“I found this place when I was in the area and craving a con miel. It's cozy inside and the service is great. There were people coming in wearing their soft pants with coffee mug in hand who obviously lived nearby which made me a bit jealous and wishing I had a little neighborhood coffee place to walk to. Vibe is totally chill.“

“I recently bought an espresso machine and a nice grinder and wanted to find a local-ish roaster to buy beans from regularly. We tried two others and weren't blown away but then I did some research and found Roots Roasting. We bought their Classic Espresso beans online and it took me maybe 2 or 3 shots to dial in and when I did—wow! We liked them so much that today we drove from Somerset, WI just to buy a fresh bag and to try their coffee in the shop. I went with a spiced mocha and my wife got "something fun" and they are both absolutely delicious! We will be back and we will continue to order beans online if we can't make the drive. Really welcoming environment and the neighborhood is nice too. Great job Roots Roasting!“

“Fantastic coffee, incredible apple fritters. Staff were kind and attentive. They have a large coffee roasting oven behind the counter, so the entire place smells heavenly. Only one bathroom though, so don’t drink your coffee too quick.
Will be back, and likely will be purchasing coffee beans from them in the future.“

“My wife and I joined my buddy Ronnie and his wife Carla for a Sunday jazz brunch. We enjoyed the jazz guitarist and food was delicious...I had the chicken and johnny cakes. I gotta figure out how they fixed that chicken!“

“It’s clean. I decided to stop here for coffee and their Denver bowl. It was enough to keep me full during jury duty. The coffee was good. But the price for the bowl isn’t so much. I should’ve got a sub next door.“

“We went to the cities to see Evanescence on the 20th of September and had layover time for the concert to start so my husband and I walked from the venue to Little Brazil. Unfortunately, we got absolutely drenched walking back to the show. Not only that, but we forgot our precious signed posters from the band at our table . The staff saved our posters and kept them safe until we made it back to get them the next day which we truly appreciated. They would have been destroyed by the weather otherwise. We were SO enamored with this gem of a place, it was WORTH the soaked clothes, chattering teeth and watching the rest of the concert soaked through! There is definitely something for everyone whether it be coffee, dessert, sandwiches. They also have a market of imported goods to try like chocolate, candies, snacks etc. Now whenever we are near the cities, it's going to be a must stop! 💖“

“I needed a great cup of coffee on a cold rainy afternoon & stopped into Caribou where I know the coffee is always perfect. Never a disappointment. Greeted with a smile and fun time guessing the trivia question of the day. Always wonderful at caribou!“

“I have been to this Caribou multiple times and I usually get a double toasted bagel with Garden veggie cream cheese. 9 times out of 10 they give me plain cream cheese or they give me honey walnut. Fun fact, one of my weaknesses is I am allergic to walnuts. It would be real nice if they didn't give me poison when I go to their store.“

“What an excellent historic looking coffee shop! Even though it currently is surrounded by scaffolding (for upkeep as I believe it is one of St. Paul’s historic building)- it is clear where it is, how to get in and easy to park on the street. All here are friendly and easy to be around, and you may even catch someone working by on a guitar composition up in the corner. Beautifully eclectic.oh also- I found another lady Liberty 🥰“

“Wonderful spot close to Mississippi Market in St. Paul. There is a beautiful small park (when weather permits) to sit outside. The building itself is old and very Swedish even though the history of Swede Hollow is long-past, lots of "hygge" inside (yes I know it's Danish but they did own the country, kinda). A few tables downstairs, one cozy one on the mezzanine, 6-7 upstairs and a neat "conference room" with a very comfy cozy reading armchair. Coffee really good (Americano, Cubano), great selection, had a studenty-feel, but we are close to MSU. The food looked very good. One of my new favourite "Third Places"“

“The people working there are very helpful. I drink pour over coffees at home using about 2/3 decaf and 1/3 caffeinated beans and they were able to match their really good decaf to two or three different regular coffee beans which ended up going together very well. On a whim I tried a newer brew for me of regular coffee and it was amazing! I don't think you can go wrong trying just about any coffee they have. I've noticed that so many stores sell coffee beans that are as old as 3 months from the time they were roasted but if you want fresh roasted this is a very good choice.“

“Such a nice quiet coffee shop even though it's next to the Greenline it's an amazing study spot. I recommend the hot chocolate! The bathrooms are secure too so no homeless loitering and the sign said NO ICE and so it's instantly gets extra points.“

“Great spot for a quick cup of coffee, not a large store, only a few bench seats, but sits right next to a food court(town Square) with lots of tables and chairs. Probably not the best location for business meetings, but a great spot to grab some coffee.“

“The very pleasant server shared that I had a 50% discount available. She applied that to my order but the system would not let it go through went I went to pay. Did not get the discount today… not a people issue, this was a problem with the caribou system.“

“I love Phe, I really do - I truly think their Vietnamese iced coffee is in a class all its own. I haven’t had any other Vietnamese coffee come close - but I think there are some things that could be addressed:
- I’m in here several times per week since they opened in early 2025. I almost always order the Vietnamese iced coffee and yet, the size of the cup I receive is notably different very often - I’ve never been asked for what size I want one single time, so I presume there is just the one size, but the cups I receive tell a different story. Please get consistent or ensure your staff is all on the same page, something is off here.
- The pastries are slop. They’re so clearly frozen food-service level pastries that taste like basically nothing. It’s kind of insulting to patrons to have this when there are not only great sweets and pastries in the immediate area from places like So Yen, The Buttered Tin, or the bevy of farmers market vendors on the weekend. There are so many talented and amazing independent bakers and bakeries in the Twin Cities you could be sourcing from instead of what you’re offering now. It’s so mismatched with how high-quality the coffee is.
- I ordered the banh mi sandwich recently. It was not busy at all, a few people in and out, but it somehow took 30 minutes for me to get my sandwich. I just don’t see any conceivable way as to why it would take this long, but the annoying thing is, I was never told it would take this long and no one apologized or ever checked-in. It was weird and now simply just go to the indoor farmers market, Lost Fox, or the buttered tin for food. You’ve completely lost my food business when I would probably be spending another $25 here per week if that experience hadn’t soured me.
- It’s weird to see the ownership park their car out front, walk in behind the counter, and just start making coffee before dipping out. Run your business how you want, but it’s just weird to see as a patron.
- Why does the music have to be so loud?
Anyway, I do like the shop, but it’s not perfect. I hope to see them continue to improve and grow the business as they have brought a really great asset to Lowertown.“
“So cute! The gentleman running the store was a delightful conversationalist and the music was great. Eclectic decor and a very interesting selection- I'm a tincture fan and they have things I haven't seen before! If the lights are on, they're open, and the parking lot in the back had plenty of space. I recommend!“
