“On a bike ride off the Minnehaha Parkway, we happened upon Heathers on a warm end-of-summer day. We walked in and ordered a nice beer on tap and relished in their fresh-cut romantic flowers in vases on their outdoor patio tabletops.

The dilly ranch, savory and tantalizing, made the Blackened Salmon Dilly Ranch Salad, a delicate and sumptuous salad of gem lettuce, crunchy radish, fresh avocado and cucumber, sunflower seeds, and pickled onions.

The saucy sumptuous teriyaki made the Teriyaki Salmon Bowl, a piquant mouthfeel, a delight of bright green edamame, brilliant pink pickle onions, avocado, rice and fresh broccoli. Delicious!“

“Only been here twice so far. Absolutely loved the biscuit egg, sausage sandwich. Absolutely loved the breakfast burrito. Great flavor in both. Great conversation with the owner. The burrito looked small but picking it up, it was heavy!! Great flavor, I'm thinking the beans were well seasoned. Didn't get the chorizo spicy flavor, but that's ok. I could see the meat in the wrap. They know how to make a killer biscuit. It was light, fluffy, and very flavorful. I hear their Cuban is supposed to be good, probably what I will try next.“

“I recently bought an espresso machine and a nice grinder and wanted to find a local-ish roaster to buy beans from regularly. We tried two others and weren't blown away but then I did some research and found Roots Roasting. We bought their Classic Espresso beans online and it took me maybe 2 or 3 shots to dial in and when I did—wow! We liked them so much that today we drove from Somerset, WI just to buy a fresh bag and to try their coffee in the shop. I went with a spiced mocha and my wife got "something fun" and they are both absolutely delicious! We will be back and we will continue to order beans online if we can't make the drive. Really welcoming environment and the neighborhood is nice too. Great job Roots Roasting!“

“The food and drinks here were fantastic. To go service was slow, but I understand they were serving in house guests first. My biggest issue was the gentleman helping us had the dirtiest hands and fingernails I've seen in a long time. He was in charge of making our drinks and his hands were filthy. He did also forget one of our drinks.“

“What a beautiful, pleasant surprise in Southdale mall. We came just for the saffron ice cream; was not disappointed. The ice cream was smooth and rich. Each bite was infused with rose, pistachios, and saffron. Not overly floral; just enough to leave a lovely, fragrant taste afterwards.

Hubby had a cortado as a chaser. That, too, was beautifully delicious.

“I love bringing my daughter here to play while I have an iced coffee, but I do have to deduct a star because the floor in the kids play area is always covered in dirt, even if we come early in the morning. Otherwise, the baristas are always friendly, the coffee is top notch, and the vibes are immaculate ✨“

“This place is the “Cheers” of Lake Nokomis. The owners, Dennis and Mary, make you feel like family and remember everyone’s favorite drinks. The coffee, Nordic waffles, and Greek Chicken wrap, are personal favorites. Pastry choices include Kouign Ammans and chocolate croissants, also favorites. Every morning you’ll see the same group of retired guys, the baby play group, the old friends getting together, a few work meetings, and a couple of first dates. I love this place.“

The baristas were very warmly welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere was buzzing! Laughter, conversation. It was on the louder side on a Sunday morning so keep that in mind if you’re looking for someplace more subdued. There was a bit of a line but it moved quick. I got a light roast, black, and it was super savory if you can call it that—very drinkable, smooth, round with a ever-so-slight lean into the sourness of acidity, which I like. I wonder if it was their own brand of bean, which they carry. Overall, energizing vibes with the warm-colored walls, dark green mosaic tile, and vibrant Uptown clientele. I can’t wait to be back to try more of the menu and absorb the vibes here, whether it’s while working, meeting a friend, or just hanging out. I’m so glad to have them here in Uptown.
