“On a bike ride off the Minnehaha Parkway, we happened upon Heathers on a warm end-of-summer day. We walked in and ordered a nice beer on tap and relished in their fresh-cut romantic flowers in vases on their outdoor patio tabletops.

The dilly ranch, savory and tantalizing, made the Blackened Salmon Dilly Ranch Salad, a delicate and sumptuous salad of gem lettuce, crunchy radish, fresh avocado and cucumber, sunflower seeds, and pickled onions.

The saucy sumptuous teriyaki made the Teriyaki Salmon Bowl, a piquant mouthfeel, a delight of bright green edamame, brilliant pink pickle onions, avocado, rice and fresh broccoli. Delicious!“

“Stopped in for a late lunch on the patio. Was interested in a bitters & soda and the server recommended mixing the rhubarb and cardamom, which was delicious and refreshing. Followed that with the Chix Correa sandwich and a side salad. Wow! Really creative flavors and well-executed. Could tell everything was made from scratch and with high quality ingredients and care. Also the decor was fun and hip, the music top-notch, and the staff kind. I look forward to coming back soon!“

“I didn’t think it was possible but I found what may be my favorite chai. The best part? I tried their apple cider chai drink and it was phenomenal. I had never had anything like that and it was so refreshing and crisp. I ordered it on ice but will have to come back and try it hot. The atmosphere was so comfortable and many people were there getting work done or just chilling. The worst part? I don’t live close enough to be there often but I’ll definitely stop by again when I’m next door getting my haircut in the future!“

“I recently bought an espresso machine and a nice grinder and wanted to find a local-ish roaster to buy beans from regularly. We tried two others and weren't blown away but then I did some research and found Roots Roasting. We bought their Classic Espresso beans online and it took me maybe 2 or 3 shots to dial in and when I did—wow! We liked them so much that today we drove from Somerset, WI just to buy a fresh bag and to try their coffee in the shop. I went with a spiced mocha and my wife got "something fun" and they are both absolutely delicious! We will be back and we will continue to order beans online if we can't make the drive. Really welcoming environment and the neighborhood is nice too. Great job Roots Roasting!“

“What a beautiful, pleasant surprise in Southdale mall. We came just for the saffron ice cream; was not disappointed. The ice cream was smooth and rich. Each bite was infused with rose, pistachios, and saffron. Not overly floral; just enough to leave a lovely, fragrant taste afterwards.

Hubby had a cortado as a chaser. That, too, was beautifully delicious.

“This place is the “Cheers” of Lake Nokomis. The owners, Dennis and Mary, make you feel like family and remember everyone’s favorite drinks. The coffee, Nordic waffles, and Greek Chicken wrap, are personal favorites. Pastry choices include Kouign Ammans and chocolate croissants, also favorites. Every morning you’ll see the same group of retired guys, the baby play group, the old friends getting together, a few work meetings, and a couple of first dates. I love this place.“

The baristas were very warmly welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere was buzzing! Laughter, conversation. It was on the louder side on a Sunday morning so keep that in mind if you’re looking for someplace more subdued. There was a bit of a line but it moved quick. I got a light roast, black, and it was super savory if you can call it that—very drinkable, smooth, round with a ever-so-slight lean into the sourness of acidity, which I like. I wonder if it was their own brand of bean, which they carry. Overall, energizing vibes with the warm-colored walls, dark green mosaic tile, and vibrant Uptown clientele. I can’t wait to be back to try more of the menu and absorb the vibes here, whether it’s while working, meeting a friend, or just hanging out. I’m so glad to have them here in Uptown. “Cute, cozy neighborhood staple in a trendy, busy part of Saint Paul. They have an expansive breakfast menu with lots of sweet and savory options, and their drink menu is impressive as well! I tried the ube matcha iced latte, which was delicious, sweet, and smooth. Additionally (not pictured) I got their seasonal pumpkin smoothie which was sweet, nourishing, and had interesting fresh ingredients (sweetened with fresh dates!) Their lemon ricotta pancakes are huge, served with a generous amount of lemon curd and impeccably fresh blueberries. The texture is great: soft but not underdone, fluffy without being too heavy. We came at a busy time, so while drinks came out quickly, the food was a tad slow. All in all, though, I'd love to come back and try more menu options!“

A little on the pricier side but a quaint hole in the wall off the beaten path. Their outside tables by the greenway has awesome aesthetic but I didn’t rate atmosphere because the interior isn’t to my tastes but still very cute if a little small. Can’t emphasize enough how nice and creative the staff were. There are such unique and interesting coffee combinations! Will definitely be coming back!“
