“I found this place 2 years ago as a quick lunch with a friend who is pescatarian . We definitely found a gem because we’ve been coming here ever since. Their lunch specials are pretty reasonable and you get a lot of food. Brought my daughter for dinner tonight and she loved it. We recommend the caterpillar roll and the spider roll.“

She was so polite and working so hard to be by herself and she did have a crowd I am assuming from veteran's day special. She absolutely ROCKED it. “Valentin‘s date dinner! We sat by the window and had such a lovely time. We have eaten here many times over the years and the food quality doesn't disappoint. Service was excellent. The only drawback was my blackened cod entrée was quite small (4 oz maybe, but uncertain),in a lovely pool of broth with some shaved fennel on the side. Quite a tiny portion for the price! Taste was light and flavorful, but it definitely needed something more. I ended up ordering a side dish just so I could feel like I had a “meal“ the server was excellent and the food timely. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to any and all. Perfect for date night!“

“We happened upon this place, honestly. Because we needed to use the restroom but, we wanted to be good patrons and checked out the menu. Opted for the Jerk Chicken Bao Bun & Blackened Shrimp appetizers.
Oh my god!! I swear, they have the absolute BEST jerk chicken I've ever tasted. Perfectly grilled/smoked and flavorful and just the right spice, on a soft steamed bun. The blackened shrimp was also phenomenal with great char and served atop jerk sauce and tropical fruit to complement the heat & sweetness.
The gentleman who served us (our bill said his name was Jims D) what a great conversationalist. We talked about the history of the place and how they are working to get their liquor license (which is taking quite a bit of time with the city, btw). We were having about the food and he mentioned another dish they were cooking up, which included this amazing cheezy/garlicky mashed potatoes. Tasted like it had both regular & sweet potatoes. If we weren't already so full, we would've got some to go!!

“We ordered this to go while visiting Kansas City, and my husband—who went in to order and pick it up—raved about how kind the owner was. When he brought the food back to the car, the kids and I couldn’t help opening it right away. The smell was absolutely heavenly!
She warned him that the egusi might be spicy and asked if that was okay. He said yes, because we can usually handle some heat… but we were not prepared for that level of spice 😂. That said, the flavor was incredible.
We also ordered the peanut butter soup, and my children and I still talk about it to this day. I genuinely recommend this restaurant to anyone who will listen—we’ve already planned a trip back to Kansas City specifically to order it again (and visit a few museums, too).

If you have any questions on what things are, what is appropriate to share, what is a good item for newcomers, and what is off the beaten path, they help you in anyway they can to make the best possible dining experience. I love Kobi-Q on Grand st. And they haven’t let me down the 3-4 times I’ve been privileged enough to enjoy their sushi bar in Westport. Please come, have an open mind on sushi, and enjoy it.
