“This was our first visit to this restaurant. No wait for a table at 7PM on a Thursday. Nice atmosphere, casual, quiet enough to hold a conversation. Good table spacing. Very pleasant greeting and seating experience. Service was prompt, pleasant, and very knowledgeable. We ordered a salad - split - as a starter and the sirloin steak and pork and dumplings as entrées. Salad was well presented and unique. Nicely chilled. Wine by the glass was excellent. Entrées came out quickly and well presented. House cut steak was thick and perfectly rare, as requested. Delicious! Diced potato, fresh green beans and house made steak sauce surrounding the steak. Pork dish was a complex assembly of ingredients - pulled pork, small dumplings, fennel, sauce with shaved hard cheese topping. Both dishes were delicious and huge portions. Only knock was both dishes were very salty. I have seen this comment before in reviews of this restaurant. I recommend when ordering to ask for less salt. My wife is an acknowledged salt-a-holic and it was a little too much for her. Without the salt dosage this is a 5 star food rating! We will visit again.“
“Great lunch, brunch spot located in the heart of Webster Groves. Parking can be a doozie but once inside it’s a fantastic ambiance. Perfect for small groups or an intimate date setting. The bar is spacious; there’s also a nice outdoor patio to enjoy on beautiful weather days. Menu is broad (there’s something for everyone to satiate over).I recommend the crab cakes for sure. The beet salad was not only delicious; the presentation was gorgeous. Price point is reasonable, service was pleasant.“
“Great date spot patio - wonderful outdoor atmosphere. Super attentive waitstaff (great attention, recommendations, and personality). Cool cocktails and some really good beers available. The food was outstanding! The menu was basically laid out in order of smallest to biggest plates; the snacks were very much snack-sized, the small plates were still plenty enough to share, and the entrees were generous. Very creative and fun cuisine. The white anchovies that we requested on the side of our (outstandingly fresh and summery) tomato salad were the absolute best anchovies I have ever had - if you like anchovies and they have "white anchovies" on the menu, order! (Our waitress was nice enough to check in the restaurant pantry to find out the brand for me, which was very appreciated.) Though we were stuffed, we had dessert and the chocolate cake we ordered was decadent and a wonderful end to a fun and romantic meal. Totally recommend Little Fox, especially for a spontaneous date night out, whether you want to graze and sip cocktails or get a full dinner.“
“Stumbled upon this place while waiting for a haircut and couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised! SUCH a cute place with loads of STL history. I ordered a half fig, ham, & gouda grilled cheese and a side Stutz salad. The service was quick and friendly, despite the full house on a Saturday afternoon lunch hour. The grilled cheese was PERFECTION: the fig was a gentle enough sweetness that balanced out the gouda and ham wonderfully. The Stutz salad--named after one of the cars from this place's history!--was a delightful spring treat, with baby mandarin orange slices, homemade poppyseed dressing, and fresh goat cheese. I often forget how MUCH I love goat cheese when it's paired properly! What a great spot and what a great meal.“
“"From the moment I stepped into The Crossing in Clayton, I knew I was in for a remarkable dining experience. The exceptional service began with Sunny, who skillfully handled my reservation, and continued with David's warm welcome at the door. My server, Joshua, was simply outstanding, ensuring that my visit was nothing short of perfect. What truly set this experience apart was the meticulous attention to dietary restrictions for both me and my guests. It's rare to find a restaurant that genuinely cares and accommodates with such grace. The meal was unforgettable, leaving me talking about it for weeks. But the cherry on top was a chance encounter with Joseph on the sidewalk days later. His genuine follow-up about my experience showcased a level of care and knowledge that is unparalleled in the industry. The Crossing in Clayton is not just a restaurant; it's an experience where the staff goes above and beyond, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking culinary excellence and exceptional service."“
“Our server Josh (yes, coincidence) nailed it. Attentive but not overbearing. The cocktails were a hit too, and I'd recommend the Apple Bottom Jeans and the Violet Mojito. My wife and I stuck to small plates as we weren't in the mood for large plates. The lobster roll was out of this world, and while it looks small, they manage to pack so much delectable lobster into it. The pork belly was also incredible though it was light on the amount of pork belly in it. The spam fried rice was really good. The chili flakes elevate the entire plate, but if you don't like spicy food, I might suggest you get something else. Finally, the cheddar biscuits...they weren't very good. They were a bit tough, not fluffy, and were portioned in a way that made them awkward to eat (too tall). I would not recommend the biscuits. But overall, great experience, 4.5/5.“
“My wife and I ate there for the 1st time and we'll definitely be back soon! The slinger brought me back to my college days eating at Courtesy, although this place is a heck of a lot nicer! 10 out of 10 I'd recommend to anybody!!“
“Not all Steakhouses are created equal. Hamilton's provides an intimate setting for a quality dining experience. If you're the type to want to pair your meal with a unique whisky, scotch or bourbon - you have come to the right place. The bar's selection and knowledge will surpass your expectations. You will have the opportunity to sip on some spirits that are hard to find anywhere. It's wise to grab a reservation or enjoy a spot at their cozy bar.“
“Russell’s on Macklin is such a staple. It has a cozy and relaxed ambiance with a fireplace offering locally sourced American cuisine.Located in the Southampton neighborhood of St. Louis, it’s a family-run restaurant that prides itself on warm hospitality and mouthwatering dishes reminiscent of home-cooked meals. From their homestyle cooking to freshly baked goods, Russell’s on Macklin caters to both the brunch & dinner crowds. The menu features elevated versions of classic American favorites, highlighting the best seasonal ingredients available.I had the broccolini salad and lump crab cake. Both were delicious. I also shared in the cheeseboard.Don't forget to indulge in their tempting gooey butter cake.“
“We were excited to try the Tavern tonight for the first time. We were a bit underwhelmed. I only got 3 scallops for a $45 entree (even Disney will give you 4 for the same price). Additionally, the fries and baked cookie had a burnt aftertaste from the oven. For $150, we thought it was significantly overpriced for what we got.“
“Hands down the best dining experience I’ve ever had. While the food is great, the absolute best part is how much the chef wants to share and educate his customers about where the food comes from and how he approaches his sourcing. It’s so refreshing to see someone supporting local farmers and promoting sustainability.“
“MUST VISIT IN STL! Coming from NYC, this is hands down one of the best spots I’ve been to lately from the drinks, food, service, and all around vibes. They put an incredible amount of detail into everything and it shows. The craft cocktails are innovative, yet approachable, and extremely well-balanced. They also carry a unique variety of spirits on the menu that you can’t find anywhere else. One drink I especially loved and recommend is the Budgy Smuggler made with their housemade clarified milk. You can also order off the entire Yellowbelly food menu (sister restaurant next door) and every dish we tried was amazing. Get the raw and hot fried oysters, beef fat fries, lump crab fritters, elote taquitos, brussels, charred carrots, pork belly, green curry salmon, and grilled hangar steak. Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavors were so unique. This should be a must stop if you’re in STL and also a great event space. I can’t wait to go back!“
“By far me and my husband’s favorite place to get food hands down. We have eaten here many times and i have had just about everything on the menu at this point and I have not been disappointed with a single thing. By far my favorite thing here is the ribeye dinner meal for the price it’s wonderful and extremely filling. Being open late on weekends has come in clutch many times when it’s late and don’t want to cook for myself.“
“I am VERY biased as I work at The Barn... but I think this place is the bomb! The only challenge we ever have is sometimes there is a wait.... but that is a wonderful problem to have for us... and ALSO we now have a waitlist that you can join online... so having to wait is soon to be a problem of the past!PRO TIP #1: When I am working on Sat & Sun as the host... say the code-phrase "I go Coo-Coo-for-Cocoa-Puffs" to me and I will move you to the front of the list!PRO TIP #2: "Rutti-Tutti-Fresh-And-Fruity" also works as the code-phrasePRO TIP #3: This DOES NOT work on anyone else at The Barn, just me!“
“I must have come on an off day, but my eggs Benedict was not good. The hollandaise was broken, and one of the eggs was undercooked. The sourdough bread was fantastic, and the cappuccino was delicious. The potatoes and salad on the side was fine. I would come back but get a different entree. The person next to me got pancakes and they looked delicious.“
“We opted for mostly drinks this time around, but still couldn't resist the chocolate tort. The cocktails are always exceptional! The Pho Sho and Garden Cosmo were the stars of the night! Service was impeccable, she was attentive without being overbearing!“
“Overall, a great space near CWE to get sandwiches and burgers with friends. Good cocktails too!WAIT TIME: We had a dinner reservation for a larger party for 7:30 on a Saturday and we were seated immediately.FOOD: I ordered the classic burger and the guava lamp drink. The burger was very tasty and the fries are delicious! Would recommend. I heard from others in my party that the chicken sandwich was very tasty as well. The guava lamp drink was quite interesting looking, and it had decent taste. It was somewhat unique so only get if you’re ready to try some new flavor combos. It was very strong too.SERVICE: QR code menu was easy to access, and our server was attentive, often asking if we needed drink refills.AMBIANCE: The decor and layout works well, it’s a more modern look with lots of pretty lights and a bar. A great spot to come with a group of friends!PRICE: Dishes were roughly between $15-25, and drinks around $15. Pretty comparable prices to similar restaurants.“
“I could go on and on about how great the food is, but what really sets them apart is the service. Every person that I've run into appears to genuinely like working there. Just makes for an overall enjoyable experience and obvious that the owners treat them well. And the patrons benefit from that. So happy to have them in the neighborhood.“
“We tried the popcorn chicken fries sprouts and the cauliflower. Everything was well seasoned and tasted great. Just wish the sides of veggies were offered in a half size. The cauliflower was very very well seasoned. They had a live band setting up. Hudai was the name of the band. They sounded good ?“
“intimate, highly personalised. loved every moment, bistro crew is very attentive. people knew me as the one who came to every single one of the anat cohen quartetinho's march show with full smile (hi anat! + tal) because it is really lovely, quiet, and calm. highly recommend, please do see anyone you can here. the best jazz club in st louisVegetarian options: salad is such a banger“
“This is not exactly a place to go for a meal . It's a place to go for a beer and if you get hungry, they offer some yummy choices to go with your drink. Small with some tables and a bar, pool table, a neighborhood stop with that Smokey bar ambiance. Menus at the table, ordering at the bar. Burgers, hot dogs, and some surprise choices on menu like hummus, falafel, chopped salad. Portions small, prices fairly reasonable, service friendly. I enjoyed a small salad with a requested change of falafel instead of chicken. No problem and tastey with a hot honey squirt on top.If you're in the area , a nice stop for a beer and a nosh.“
“Really yummy :)) everybody inside was friendly and welcoming in a very genuine way that makes you feel very cared for. The ribs were soo well cooked and the pulled pork was tender (reminds me of being home w my dad who always makes ribs for us). I always love mac & cheese but especially here. The atmosphere has a really sweet/homey feel, definitely recommend going“
“Been enjoying The Royale most weeks since 2015. Best bar and restaurant in town. A gem. Chill tavern vibes, DJs, local art, gorgeous courtyard, old movies, vinyl records, and a stellar menu. Owner Steve is the best. Get the fish tacos, a fresh margarita, a local beer, or whatever you’re into. Hell, I’m about to head there right now writing this review. I’m not even joking.“
“Somehow I forgot to review SSC when I ate here a few months ago, which is weird because I tell everyone how great it was.The ambiance here is very nice and the service is fantastic. But of course the food is the driving force here. The beef tartare was an awesome and unique appetizer that you'll only see at a high end place. The broccoli salad was excellent and presented beautifully. The duck was by far the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked on the inside with an amazing crunch and sauce on the outside. The chicken and pasta were also both great.I keep a list of restaurants in St Louis to try, from burger places to high end establishments. Sidney Street Cafe will remain at the top of that list and I'll be back for sure.“
“0 a+ rating I would just say that everything was on time and it was hot prepared immaculately and on top of that you could get no better in service or privacy so if you want to instrument dinner with somebody that you care about deeply this would be the place to have it so a+ double a plus in my book“
“One of our favorite casual date night dinner spots. Creative and unique menu items, all taste great. Their liquor selection is pretty impressive as well. Patrick and his team do a great job, we will be back again... and again... and again.“
“We visited this spot today. If you're looking for somewhere cozy, this is it. The "library" selections were very intriguing. The food tastes were on point. He had the chauvinist pig and I had the pulled pork nachos. Yummy yum yum. we will be back. Oh and covid 19 vaccination enforcement, was real. I can truly appreciate that. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The patio area was spacious and clean. I can't wait to visit again. thank you for being so polite.“
“My spouse and I celebrated here. She had the Shrimps and Grits and the Berry Goat cheese salad. I had the Grilled Salmon and Lobster and sausage gumbo. The waitress and the chef were very courteous and pleasant. We had the bread pudding with better pecan ice cream, and the death by chocolate cake and ice cream. It was a blessing?“
“We have been using AofE for many years now for our office lunches. Our order has been correct every single time! It is always fresh and delicious! Their desserts are YUM!Our board members always comment on how much they look forward to and enjoy the lunches provided at our meetings. They communicate well during the ordering process. Staff is always friendly and professional! The owner Ann is amazing to work with! Thank you!“
“Our first time here and it was great! Our server Genesis was sweet, bubbly, and attentive. The food was fantastic! Had burrata salad (off menu special), the Tiger rolls, and brisket dipper. Other than the au jus being a little too salty (which is prob normal, I don’t like things that are too salty) would eat it all again it was so good! And the servings are huge, we have enough leftovers for two more meals. The cocktails were also terrific- it’s hard to find a Vieux Carré outside the French Quarter but they make a good one! Sazarac was also delicious. Will be recommending this place to others and will definitely be back!“
“I rarely give 5 stars because there is always room for improvement. That being said, my entire experience was amazing! They remember what great service and a well-prepared meal mean. There was thought, time, and care taken with my food all for my eating experience.Very nicely done. For me personally you get 4¾ ?“
“This place was so much fun to eat at. The atmosphere was fun and inviting. The server was helpful and made sure we were well taken care of. The desserts here are massive, so be prepared for that. The bottled drinks were amazing. We tried quite a few of them. Highly recommend this place!“
“I would give this place 4.5 if that was an option, the food was delicious, the best thing in my opinion were the sides of the proteins, the carrots were probably the best ones I’ve had amazing, potatoes amazing and cauliflower very tasty. The meals as I said, 5/5!. The whole experience and service was maybe 3.5/5. The timing of the meal felt at first rush, we got the first course and we still had basically full cocktails, no much mention on the wines and pairings (we ended sharing a couple of glasses of wine we picked out the menu and turned out good). Despite my complaints I recommend this place, the food was good and with the changes coming with the a la carte menu, I’m excited to try other dishes.“
“Stopped in for breakfast and it was delicious! Friendly and helpful staff with a nice menu of unique dishes and not loaded with entrees you’d find at a typical American restaurant. Pictured are the eggs Benedict with pork belly and also 2 tacos (chicken and carnitas). Quick in, quick out, didn’t have to wait for a table and food was out in 15 minutes. My kinda place!Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options“
“We stayed at the Cheshire hotel and were fortunate to have Basso on the premises! We met a friend here the first night of our stay. The restaurant is in the basement. The atmosphere was inviting with gas lit wall lights, a center bar with booths and high tops. Autumn was a wonderful server. She was so pleasant and informative. We really enjoyed having her as our server. Happy hour is from 4 to 6. We tried the fried meatballs, which were great. The lemon ravioli and the shrimp pasta dish were both delicious. Prices were reasonable. When you dine, the food taste and quality are top priority, but when the food is phenomenal and the service and atmosphere are just as good, it makes the experience memorable. We ended up returning on our second night! Julie was our server and we really enjoyed her, too. She was helpful and interested in our satisfaction! We tried the Brussel sprouts, an heirloom salad with delicious bread. Our entrees were the butcher steak and the burger. The steak was wood fired and super tender! The burger was delicious. The fries and shishito peppers were very good. We highly recommend this hidden gem and thank Autumn and Julie for making our stay in St. Louis so memorable! Oh, try the Secret Door specialty drink, a next level Old Fashioned“
“Friday lunch was delicious. The atmosphere is lovely and refined. The Peppe’s and spinach salads were very good. The entrees of veal piccata and grilled halibut were excellent as well. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra music was a wonderful addition to the experience. I can’t wait to return in spring when I can dine in their outdoor garden.“
“Great hamburger and fies. The service was top notch! Great place and layout with great music and a great band. The Stonewheel Band played as we ate and provided great music the rest of the evening. Prices are more than reasonable considering the high quality if the food they serve and the portions.“
“Originally from STL but haven't lived there for two decades. When I am there, approximately once a year, Olio is the number one place I need to go. Everything they turn out is amazingly well thought out with creativity and passion second to none. I consistently dream about their egg salad... the decor and vibe is perfect, service is always top notch... there is absolutely nothing I would change about this place.“
“Today was my first time going here and everything was top tier and magnificent the food was fresh the lemonade was amazing the chili was great I got two cheeseburgers egg rolls and four Philly cheesesteak egg rolls and they were so hot and delicious I would highly recommend this place the service was so wonderful the guy at the front that took my order and made the food was also wonderful I hope he's there for many more years“
“The food was below par but everything else was great. I got a table right away and was served by Kaitlyn. If you are able to request being in her section, do it! I was never worried about waiting to oder and when I did, my drink came very soon after. I got the garlic French dip and I think it's over priced for how little good lean meat you get. A few bites had too chewy of fat. Half of the homemade chips were crispy so that was nice, but I would've loved every chip to be able to break in half and not bend.Still, you should go and give this place a shot!“
“We had dinner here before seeing a show in Kirkwood. This was our first time eating here and loved it! I have to eat gluten free so had the salmon and it was delicious!! My fiancé had the pasta with clams and said it was really good too. I would recommend eating here whenever you're looking for a nice place for dinner!“
“This is my absolute favorite breakfast spot, I've tried almost everything on the menu and it's always insanely delicious. Their salsa fresca is especially good, as well as their sausage gravy. They are super busy on weekends, so get there by 8am if you want to be seated immediately.Kid-friendliness: We went around 8:15am and brought our toddler, there were at least 5 other families with very young kids.“
“We had the pleasure of attending a wedding reception at The Dogwood. Completely unassuming from the outside, this space is sure to wow even the most hard to please guest. The main level boasts a spacious dining room with a beautiful bar. It was cozy without feeling overwhelming. The decor was absolutely gorgeous everything has a modern aesthetic. There is a grand staircase leading to the second level. This space is an indoor/outdoor set up. Guests could filter in and out. There were three fire pits and ample seating on the patio. Perfect for a chilly evening. The bar on the second level was a little smaller, but highly functional. The team were so hospitable and friendly. The bartenders made quick work of keeping drinks full and the party going. The food was absolutely delicious! Cocktail hour consisted of a variety of appetizers including toasted ravioli, mini egg rolls, wontons, and chicken bites. Just what you need in your belly while consuming alcohol. Our meal will rate very high on my list of favorite wedding reception meals. The quality of the ingredients was reflected in the execution of each dish. Everything was perfectly done. This was a fantastic experience! Hoping I have more friends getting married soon so we can go back!“
“Hole in the wall with a good bakery, limited grocery and a full menu. They act like they could not care less if you are patronizing their store. Not sure if it's because I'm American but I have been twice and got the "I didn't GAF about your business" vibe both times. The South county location is 100X better to go to. It's cleaner and the dude is always thankful and kind. 100% opposite of here. I will not return here. Would rather go where my business is clearly appreciated and the vibe is positive.“
“A very chill and mellow atmosphere with very talented artists, quality cocoktails, and attentive customer service. Perfect spot for a date or a solo treat to self. $15 to sit by the bar, $20 to sit at a table in front of the stage. Decent food, nothing to write home about. All in all, an amazing experience. I’d love to come back.“
“Ice & Fuel is my go-to spot for what I feel is the best burger in STL. The cooked-to-order freshness is outstanding. With fresh, crisp vegetables and sides, it's hard to beat. If your cardiologist is more forgiving than mine, get a side of onion rings! Drinks are cheaper than most places and the pours are perfect. The staff is always courteous and attentive. Frequent visits and you'll be remembered - that's a great part of going here. My one complaint: It is loud. Very loud. Between 5 and 7 you're probably not going to have a few cocktails and catch up with friends. If yelling people is your thing, you'll love it! Overall Ice & Fuel is a great, underrated beer and burger joint. Check it out!“
“Very efficient ordering system. The line is to go to the counter and order your meal. Once you’ve ordered, you will be seated and your meal will be brought your table.Food quality was excellent. We enjoyed a novel quiche , and a large portion of avocado toast. The desserts are on display as you are waiting to order, and we were tempted by a chocolate caramel pastry with a nut crust.Parking is easy, and prices are reasonable.“
“Old school bar/restaurant! Smell of cigs and cold beer can get any better reminds me of childhood because I was born in 70's Wed and Saturday the best fried chicken you ever ate! You get mashed potatoes and green beans. The fried mushrooms are bomb with the horseradish dip. Cheeseburger is strong! The Willy onion rings are fabulous. It ain't fancy but the food/cold drinks are the main attraction. Sits by a train track hear the whistle! Service is fast and friendly! Family owned.“
“We realize it was Valentine's Day, so that may have been the culprit here. But... we were encouraged to order all our courses up front, which we won't do again. Each subsequent course arrived long before we were finished with the previous one, leading to a crowded table and a sense of being rushed, which wasn't what we were seeking for a VD meal.... Food delicious, wait staff lovely, all else good. But timing of the courses was oblivious to the pace of consumption.“
