“I have mixed feelings about this place! The food is delicious every single time but the service is often very slow especially if you sit outside.I wouldn’t recommend sitting outside because there is a sewer issue in a nearby ditch that smells terrible. It definitely turns into a party spot at night and especially on the weekends.“

“Have been there several times for takeout. The food has always been good. However the last time I went and ordered brisket it was tough. Wish they served burnt ends. Will be going back.“

“My husband and I were in Jackson with a few hours to kill. We stopped a nice couple in Highland Village to ask where they would recommend us eating lunch. We were both very pleased with their recommendation. I enjoyed the linguine with crawfish tails on which our attentive waitress helped me decide. My husband enjoyed the carne pizza. We will definitely return the next time we’re in town.“

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thai Time Thai is hands down the best Thai food I’ve ever had. The green curry is absolutely phenomenal, and the summer rolls are chef’s kiss delicious 🤌🏼. The service is always fantastic, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and I truly have nothing negative to say. It’s basically the only place I go to eat in Jackson now. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re seriously missing out!“

“The food was excellent, especially the baklava! The atmosphere is intimate and pleasant, and a little romantic. My husband and I had the lamb chops and the chicken kebab, both were great. The price was reasonable — about $45 for two appetizers, one soft drink, two generous meal plates including rice and vegetables, one Turkish coffee, and two baklavas. Very good value! We will be back.“

“Hubs and I were in Jackson as a stop over on our way to Texas. This restaurant was walking distance from our hotel. What a great choice!!! A throw back to another era. Good food. The vanilla shake was so very good! All good was freshly made. Staff was friendly and fast. If I’m ever this way again I’ll be coming back to Brent’s Drugs!!! Happy to support a local establishment.“

“We tried Rooster's/Basil's for the first time tonight at the recommendation of a family member. I'm so glad we did because it did NOT disappoint! Everything was made fresh to order and the customer service was the best I've experienced in awhile. We will definitely be eating there again and I highly recommend it!“

“The Library is definitely a hidden gem of Jackson. McKenzie was an amazing waitress. She talked us thru all menus and gave us all her recommendations. I strongly recommend having a reservation for the best spot in the place. The food was amazing with so many different flavors. We will absolutely be returning!!!“

“The Food is AMAZING!!! The cheese burger is huge and delicious, the hamburger wraps are also humongous and delectable, the Philly pizza is the absolute best, the chipotle, lemon pepper, and buffalo wings are finger licking good, and the buffalo shrimp salad is top tier!!! You can’t go wrong with either one of these items!!! Weldon is professional and such a caring and attentive owner. Love this place❤️“

“Today was the 1st time I’ve been to The Manship. We sat outside as the day was overcast and comfortable temps. The atmosphere is laid back southern elegance. Lunch menu choices made it difficult to choose. We started with the seasonal cocktail, a very Manship twist on a French 75 served frozen in a coupe and garnished with a violet. This is one I hope they make a permanent part of their menu. Perfect balance of sweet/sour and delightful on the palate. Next we shared smoked tuna dip served with what I think were fried tortillas seasoned with chili lime and saltine crackers. It rivals the best smoked tuna dip I’ve ever had from along the Atlantic. For entrees we chose small plates: Manship Woodfired Oysters served with focaccia and a special of Bbq pork belly served with Brussel Sprout slaw. I am not fond of brussel sprouts & surprisingly I loved the slaw. The oysters were beautifully served in a dish that kept them warm and not overcooked. The thick slices of bread were perfect for dipping in the butter sauce used in cooking the oysters. The pork belly was so good. Just the right amount of rub and sauce cooked to tender, melt in your mouth perfection. Our server was a total pro. I feel so bad because I didn’t write down her name. My daughter who was with me once worked as a server at a restaurant much like Manship. She was very impressed because our dishes arrived in perfect order and timing. She was knowledgeable about every item on the menu. Do yourself a favor and go eat at this wonderful establishment! We will come back!“

“I absolutely love Valley St Fish, when I have a fish craving this is my go to place. The only thing I dislike is that this place has probably been in business since before I was born and they have don’t no upgrades to the building or parking. You would think with all these centuries of being in business they would make some improvements to the place. You also have to have life insurance to park and cross the street to get to the building as traffic is horrendous. Other than this it’s the best fish place in the city.“

“Was out last Friday evening around 10:15 and was sure to be out of luck when hunting for somewhere to eat. It was looking like Whatabeen tired of eating or Waffle Bell... But happened to do a quick search anyway and Right on Time there it was like a Light House in a storm...Capitol Grill...kitchen open surprisingly late. I gotta say that the food was absolutely delicious! Even to be later in the evening, everything we ordered was fresh and very well prepared. We weren't rushed at all like some places will do when you come in off peak hours for the kitchen. We received Wonderful A+ service from our waitress who gave good recommendations for dinner when we requested them and had fun shooting a couple games of pool afterwards. Overall Great Experience! A Peaceful, Welcoming, and Fun Environment. Great Job!! Will be returning soon. 5☆☆☆☆☆“

“A living piece of Jackson's immigrant history, blending Mexican and Southern influences in its story and menu.
Sonny Boy Williamson II lived upstairs, Little Harlem. Medgar Evers rented a space upstairs.
The bologna was very good, I think the best balance of textures and flavors between the slaw and the grill. The Smokeys very close to a chorizo sandwich with forward heat. The pig ear is the journey for most, I see reviews calling it crunchy and I don't think that's the word. Very tender, flavored with garlic. I'm glad I had it but it's rooted in a far away expectation, i dont have the right refer3nce experience with ears.
Prices seem locked in forever cheap in a neighborhood frozen in time.“

“The cock of the walk has been around for probably 40 years or so and it was once the best fish in Mississippi! It went down hill a few years back but they have new management and I believe ownership and they have done a remarkable job! Kudos to the team! \nThe fish we had was awesome and the service was outstanding! We will be back when we are in town!“

“Driven across the country 4 times and have stopped at plenty of Waffle Houses- this has been the best experience so far out of all of them. Service was amazing, the timing to get our food was fast, the food was perfect. I ordered to go, ate in the car, and when I finished came back in to let the staff know how pleased I was- the girl who took my order goes “what’s wrong?” ? More people should inform the staff when something is good instead of just when something bad. Thank you to you and your staff! ?“

“Went to celebrate my bday last Friday (03/06). Waitress was nice, place was cute, and my food was good even though the scalloped potatoes were slightly undercooked (I was too tipsy to care). My friends also said their food was decent. I guess I caught everyone on a good night bc these reviews were making me second guess my choice. I will be coming back for brunch!🙂↔️“

“We stopped at this Drago’s location during a road trip, just north of Jackson, Mississippi. Drago’s originated in Louisiana and has expanded into neighboring states, and this stop genuinely felt like our stomach arrived in New Orleans before we did. It was a great introduction to Southern and Cajun-style seafood before reaching NOLA.
The restaurant has a classic American bar-meets–fine dining atmosphere. The dining room is spacious and brightly lit with chandeliers, and the walls are decorated with framed New Orleans street scenes, giving the space a subtle sense of “exported” NOLA culture. There is also a full bar area, where TVs were playing live sports, making it a comfortable spot for both dining and casually watching a game. On a weekday evening, the restaurant wasn’t crowded, which made the experience relaxed and unhurried—perfect after a long drive.
Reservations are available, which is nice to know if you’re stopping by during busier hours or on weekends. The menu itself is not very large, but it’s focused. If you’re particular about choices, it’s worth checking the menu online in advance so you know what to expect.
The highlight of the meal was Drago’s Original Charbroiled Oysters. They arrived sizzling at the table, filled with rich garlic butter aroma and sound. Paired with hand-torn bread for soaking up the sauce, they were absolutely addictive and disappeared almost instantly. This dish alone is reason enough to visit.
We also ordered the Fried Gator Bites, made from battered and fried alligator tail meat served with remoulade sauce. They’re surprisingly approachable—think “chicken nuggets,” but firmer and more substantial than chicken, with a satisfying bite.
The Mama Ruth’s Seafood Gumbo was thick, rich, and hearty, with a strong seafood-and-okra base. It works especially well mixed with rice, making it a comforting and filling dish.
Fish, Shrimp ’N’ Grits was another standout. The grits were creamy and fragrant, topped with fish and shrimp, and packed with flavor. Unexpectedly, it even reminded us of Chinese “fish-fragrant” flavors in a fun way.
After hours on the road, this meal completely washed away our travel fatigue. With multiple locations in New Orleans, Drago’s feels like a dependable choice with consistent quality. Whether you’re passing through Mississippi or dining in NOLA, it’s a solid stop for satisfying Southern seafood in a comfortable, no-rush setting.“
