“We had lunch here and it was DELISH. I had the blackened fish tacos (mahi mahi was the fish of the day) and our 11 year old had the Old Bay seasoned fish tacos. We both loved them, and it was a ton of food. So fresh and so delicious! My husband and our 15 year old had the crabby patty sandwich and they both devoured them and were very happy with their meals. Our 13 year old had the crabby patty wrap and liked it, and our 9 year old had the chicken nuggets kids meal and liked that too. The service was great and the atmosphere was cheerful, laid back, and vibrant. Highly recommend this place for lunch. You won’t be disappointed!“

“Honestly one of the most underrated places to eat in OBX. My wife and I most always make it a point to eat at Fatty’s. The food is fantastic and the staff have always been alert and friendly. Truthfully a great place to eat!“

“Ate there on my birthday. May 22. Food was great. I had the sheepshead and my husband had the oysters. Chloe, our waitress was wonderful. She treated us to a bowl of the famous chowder and chocolate cake. We loved it so much until we stopped on the way to the ferry and bought some frozen. Everything we ate was perfect..“

The fried flounder was perfectly crispy, fresh, and full of flavor, and the steak was cooked to perfection — tender, juicy, and one of the best we’ve had in a long time. And the dessert? Completely to die for! The perfect ending to an amazing meal. What truly made the experience unforgettable though was Angela and Rusty themselves. They were some of the kindest, most welcoming people you could ever meet and made us feel right at home the entire time. You can truly tell how much love and care they put into both the food and the atmosphere. If you’re looking for amazing food, wonderful people, and an all-around fantastic dining experience, Rusty’s Surf and Turf is a must-visit. We will definitely be back!“

“Authentic local dive bar with great, local seafood. This is as local as you can get and when we went on a Thursday, it was packed with locals. We had raw oysters that came from Avon the day before. Perfectly blackened tuna bites, and some of the best, most lightly breaded juicy, sweet fried shrimp. We even got 14 oysters instead of the dozen we ordered. Even with a packed bar and a line to get in the door, we got great service from our bartender who also waited on our table outside. Definitely a hidden gem. Don’t drive too fast or you’ll miss it and don’t be turned off by the exterior.“
