“I tried El Batán Restaurant last week with a group of people and I cannot say enough good things about the food and the restaurant! This place is a hidden gem; and everyone said their food was fabulous! I have to agree! I had a Pisco Sour (a traditional Peruvian cocktail) and the Picante de Camarones as my entree off the A La Carte menu. It came with rice and was very satisfying and absolutely delicious! The seasoning was delicate and unlike anything I’ve tasted before. I can’t say enough great things about our meal, the restaurant, and the service (which was friendly, informative, and attentive). We took home two of the three desserts pictured and the Tres Leches (left) was our favorite! I almost hate to say this, because I’ll probably never get a seat there again, but don’t hesitate to take the opportunity to try this Peruvian menu. It’s a little off the beaten path (Hickory address, but really in Bethlehem—a left on 127 right after the bridge) but definitely worth the trip!“
“The guy who claims to be their chef is a pervert. He has been sexually harassing my daughter Emma. It has gotten to the point police are involved. Jason Chef Watson He should be Blacklisted. even after police involvement he was sending many threats. he is a bad bad dude, and I see he has been accused of sexual assault by several women. Stay away from my daughter Perv. or else. His GF April Moore is crazier than him.“
“If you want real, authentic Korean, this is the place for you! I had the Bibimbap and it tasted better than what I ate weekly in S. Korea! The ingredients are fresh, the service is very friendly and even though the price is a little high, you absolutely get what you pay for!“
“From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, the ambiance set the stage for a memorable evening. The live music was the perfect backdrop, enhancing the fine dining experience without overwhelming conversation. Each steak was cooked to perfection. They don’t make chefs like John Duke anymore. The drinks menu was impressive, offering a wide variety of options. But what truly set this restaurant apart was the service. It was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly, making us feel valued and well-cared for. The combination of exquisite food, exceptional service, and a great atmosphere makes this a must-visit destination for anyone looking to enjoy an excellent dining experience. I cannot recommend Duke’s enough!! It is a must try if you’re in Hickory!“
“This was great, we were a little scared cause my wife has a shell fish allergy but they made sure all things were separated and there were no incidents. The food thoooooo a WHOLE SITUATION. Everything was golden brown and seasoned to perfect measure. I only wished there was more. It helped that the service was amazing can't remeber the your guys name but he made sure we were taken care of.“
“Fish camp atmosphere. Staff is friendly, hushpuppies are always fresh and hot. Good variety of options and the new menu (2024) offers additional seafood options. The daily specials do not disappoint. Order baby shrimp and you can feed a small army, the portions are so generous!“
“The customer service at Capt'n Pete's in Maiden was outstanding and we will definitely be back! We didn't realize that they closed at 8, and when we got there at 7:30 they welcomed us on it. We had salt&pepper catfish filet, deviled crab, and Alaskan White. Everything was FRESH, HOT, and DELICIOUS. The hushpuppies were also so good! Thank you Capt'n Pete's for a great and friendly experience.“
“This is not your regular Mexican restaurant. They primarily have seafood. The food was great and the portions are very large. The dry ceviche (instead of salsa and chips) was good, but all the salsas were too spicy for us. I'd definitely come back, as they have a good variety of dishes to try.“
“We had been waiting for perch to be back on the menu and it did not disappoint! As always, the food was delicious! The salad bar is a star all by itself, and everything we have ordered has been great. The grilled salmon is especially top notch. We came for a late lunch on Sunday, so we only waited a few minutes for our table. All of the servers are attentive and friendly. It's a 25 minute drive for us to this restaurant, but worth it every time!“
“I’m from south Florida. I love living in North Carolina/Tennessee, the only thing I miss about my old life is the seafoods, but not anymore! Best oyster and shellfish menu, PERIOD! Florida, N.C, TN! I couldn’t recommend enough!! By the way, ask for Sherry, she will treat you right!!!!“
“Always a pleasure coming to this location. Staff always goes above and beyond making sure my dining experience is top tier. Thank you for making Sundays feel like a Saturday afternoon.Parking: It’s by a couple hotels so there is ample parking.Kid-friendliness: Kids are always welcome“
“My husband and I had lunch here today and as always it was amazing. The food and service is always first class!!! The chef also came out and visited with us to make sure our food was satisfying. We really appreciated that! We will definitely keep coming back to one of Hickory's hidden gems!“
“We order from China King quite often and highly recommend them. Their portion sizes are plentiful, always fresh, hot and prepared exactly as we ordered. Our favorite is their sesame chicken combo, which comes with fried rice and an egg roll. For appetizers or just something light, the wonton soup and crab rangoons are amazing. The staff is friendly and restaurant is clean. My only complaint is that it’s not really an inviting place to go inside to sit down and eat.“
“For those of you who aren't old enough to remember what a "fish camp" is, this is it! 3rd generation of family ownership. Scratch-made tartar sauce, onion rings slaw and hush puppies. Catfish fillet meal is strips, not a full slab. Still delicious; not greasy, and batter was not over-salty. Service was a slow for the size crowd. Server was managing 4 tables with total of 7 people. Never refilled my drink. Was offered more hush puppies, but they never arrived. Also got the wrong slaw: ordered sweet and received sour. I'll come back for the good. food, but probably lean towards take-out next trip 5 food and 2 star service.“
“This is a wonderful culinary addition to an area plagued by bland franchise restaurants that cater to the country music crowds. A sophisticated dining experience with wine and a bar, that serves delicious, reasonably priced dishes with excellent service.“
