“One of the best southern soul food restaurants I have been to. The pinto beans were full of meat and well seasoned along with the mixed cabbage and collard greens. “Absolutely loved my first experience at the Chicken Hut! From walking in, to ordering, and to eating was nothing but a great time. I was warmly greeted by the staff as they told me the meats and sides they had available. I went with their fried chicken and I was told it would be about ten minutes, but I did not mind waiting. For my sides I got their greens and Mac and cheese. Their plates also include either a roll or hushpuppies; so I went with the hushpuppies. And I am so glad that I did!The hushpuppies were the major highlight of my plate. They were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. With the hot sauce added it made them pop even more. I quickly ate most of them before my meal was over. The fried chicken was also amazing. It was not overly salty or seasoned and had an amazing crunch. It comes out pipping hot, so I had to take my time with each bite, but it was so worth it.The greens were light and seasoned well. I like that they were not super soft and had a great texture and depth. I could literally just eat their greens and hushpuppies and be so happy!The only side that I thought could use some love was their Mac and cheese. I thought it could've had more seasoning and cheese. It was a little plain.I love that the Chicken Hut is still here serving great food for 65 years! Their love for the community shows in their stellar customer service, fun atomosphere (the music was a mix of 70s/80s rnb that made me not want to go back to work!), and their warmth! “I had been meaning to try this spot for some time. As luck would have it, I was in the area for a different event and convinced the group to try out this spot. First off, you scan the qc code for the menu and to order. No cash was accepted. I didn't have a problem with this, but one of the crew did as they only had cash. We went at about lunchtime but the place was not busy and the workers were very attentive. Overall all, I enjoyed the food. Can it beat out grandma on the island, of course not. But, I liked the offering and was pleased with the visit. Plus, no one beat Grandma. Lol“
“The Cajun catfish was fresh and it was great. I also had the cabbage and collards which were decent but the catfish was definitely the star!They do not have table service but you are able to sit inside after receiving your food and enjoy it while there. The restaurant was nice and they had that good ole gospel playing in the background. I would definitely recommend the Cajun Catfish!“

“I can't speak to the atmosphere as we had them cater lunch for our office - at our office. However, the FOOD was some of the best BBQ I have ever had - and I am not vegan! These folks are cooking up some real vegan magic as you truly would never guess that the "pulled pork" barbeque was vegan. The flavor, texture, aroma - just WOW. You've also got to try their gluten free cornbread, their collards, potato salad, and their magical slaw. Also, the communication with their catering coordinator was top notch. My team has been raving about this food for the past couple of days. Do NOT sleep on Pure Soul!Vegetarian options: Vegan!
