“I finally came to Boricua Soul after seeing them on one of the food shows. I brought my mother along and we really enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere along with the food. Mom got the shrimp sandwich with collard greens and mac & cheese while I got the Boricua Bowl with fried chicken. The greens were great and while I’m not really a mac & cheese person, this mac & cheese was hitting on all cylinders. Great down to earth business where the owners are in tune with all who walk through the doors to share their space. The fact they’re located at American Tobacco in downtown Durham right by the Durham Bulls baseball stadium makes it a must stop. Defintely coming back the next time I’m in Durham when I see Mom again.“

The fish was incredibly fresh, and the flavors were spot on. The service was excellent — the staff was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. “I wish I had taken a moment to take a picture of my sandwich, but it was so good that I didn’t want to put it down. They were out of their trout salad (food supply issues outside of their control) so it was bluefish instead and I was impressed! Everything is very fresh and carefully prepared. Bread A+, pickled onions crispy and not too pungent, arugula immaculate and the bluefish so fresh, you are wondering if somehow you were transported closer to the sea. My friend’s pastrami sandwich looked great as well. I may have to try that next time. We shared freshly made potato chips and an onion dip. Also yummy.“

“Went for a going away party and it is really a nice place. There is an inside bar and an outside rooftop area, with a window to the bar. The server reminded me of that Norwegian soccer star Erland, or whatever his name is. The appetizers we enjoyed included hummus with cauliflower, pita triangles, and some flat breads. It was still daytime but even so, the atmosphere was nice. I imagine the place is very cozy at night“

“It was a busy Saturday I recommend walking down to the farmers market and picking up some bakery items there. But walking a block to come get some coffee here. The barista was sweet and they were even giving out samples of their lemon loafs. Will definitely come back the chai was an 8.6 and although it had hints of lavender and floral it was grounded in spice and vanilla.“

“When I first visited the store I was on break from work and was just browsing. The store has everything from food to books, perfume and home trinkets like candles, wine and stationaries. I can easily get lost in this store for an hour or two; it's the perfect dilly-dally spot for a girl lol. I had lunch recently and ordered the black Forest Ham & Swiss and a Cinnamon Roll. When I say this sandwich was everything! It was STACKED and the perfect diagonal cut. I was so ready to eat it I didn't even get a chance to take a photo but trust me it's good! And don't even get me started on the cinnamon roll! A soft flaky pastry with the perfect amount of icing glazed on top. If you ever want a nice deli sandwich, I recommend Parker & Otis!“

I’m not a matcha enthusiast or connoisseur in any way, shape, or form, but this place has the best matcha I’ve ever tried by FAR! The environment is relaxing and good for chats with friends or work days away from the office. The staff are just excellent human beings. They know their stuff (Christa, the owner, is a cicerone and the whole team are certified beer servers). Perhaps most importantly, they are friends who genuinely care about their customers and community. Cait, in particular, is just amazing. She has the best insights, is always open to a deep conversation, and has a kindness that is hard to find these days. And she pours an excellent beer! 5 stars.“

We went with our own food and snacks but couldn't eat as they serve food and outside food is not allowed. That is fine, we just realize they serve food too.“
