“My wife and I enjoyed our time here. We started the evening with a trip to the rooftop where we enjoyed the view and seating for a while. The service: We arrived right as they opened at our reserved time. Food came in a timely manner. Our waitress could have stopped at our table maybe once or twice more and perhaps not been so brief in conversation, but I guess we were served. 5/10 The Food: We ordered the Fried Squash, Crispy Brussels, Grilled Half Chicken, New York Strip, Coke and a coffee. 6/10 Fried Squash: This squash was very good. It was crispy and served with a “comeback sauce.” Most of the time comeback sauces are not that great-but this stuff made me want to comeback-it was a delight. The squash was very crispy and somehow stayed crispy throughout our meal. The squash was right on the verge of being too salty. 7/10 Crispy Brussels: Let me start this off with this—these were good and I would order them again. The “crispy” part was quite lacking-the Brussels were a little mushy and had not much crisp. They were tossed in a too sweet strawberry-jalapeño sauce. A little jalapeño in the “strawberry kale peno sauce would have made this appetizer taste not like a dessert. I found myself eating a too salty fried squash and following it with a too sweet brussel. 7/10 New York Strip: -The grilled steak was served medium rare, pre-sliced with a white truffle compound butter over grilled asparagus with a side of “crackled potatoes.” The steak was beautifully cooked with a good grilled sear. It could have used more salt. The white truffle compound butter was good-but perhaps the truffle overwhelmed the steak? The asparagus was cooked well, but bland. The potatoes were fantastic. I wish I could describe how they tasted and do them proper justice. They were seasoned well, crisp on the outside and fluffy and delicious on the inside. I’m already craving these potatoes. 8/10 Grilled Half chicken: This grilled chicken was served over a side of red beans and rice. The chicken was grilled and seared well—the skin was well seasoned. The inside meat was dry and lacked any seasoning. I realize that cooking a half-chicken takes skill—but perhaps if you do not possess that skill then maybe you shouldn’t serve it. This chicken was good if you compare it to a grocery store rotisserie chicken that has been sitting for hours. It was an absolute disgrace to be served at any restaurant. The red beans and rice were a delight. They were deep in flavor and tasted as if they were cooked with love. I wish I could have had just beans and rice without the chicken. 3/10 Coffee: This coffee was definitely drip brewed in a cheap coffee pot. It tasted like diner coffee that had sat too long and the burner was a little too hot so it became burnt and bitter. This is quite alarming considering they had brewed a pot just for me. Do not order the coffee. 2/10 Overall the food wasn’t special, but for the price we paid, the atmosphere, and the history of the building my food concerns although serious, could be much worse. I may eat here again—I’ll just know they spend more time perfecting their sides and appetizers more than their mains. You should eat here—not because the food is the best food ever. But because the food is decent, the location is pretty, the price is fair, and the building is cool. Just don’t order the chicken. TLDR: Food was okay, a little meh. Crispy brussels and fried squash were interesting. Steak with potatoes were fine. Chicken was dry and bland. Bad coffee. Cool atmosphere.“

“Just get the coffee, it rocks! Stay clear of the ice tea, it’s the weirdest thing you’ll ever try….. it like a concentrate with added water?? We could not figure out what was happening when we watched how the ice tea was made. It wasn’t good. So stick to the coffee because they do it right! Better than Starbucks (less bitter and more smooth).“
