“Firehouse Subs (Concord, NC) – 5 stars, and I mean it, for the staff, food, and service.

I have to be honest about something before I get to the praise: this location is dangerously hot inside right now. It was over 90 degrees in the dining room during my visit. I was sweating just sitting at the table eating my meal, and the staff — working the line, over the ovens, on their feet all shift — were visibly soaked through their uniforms. I asked about it, and I was told the team had already contacted the building owner about the broken AC, and the owner has still not provided a fix. That's on the landlord, full stop. If you're collecting rent on a commercial lease, maintaining working climate control is a basic obligation, not optional — and if I were in this franchise owner's shoes, I'd already be talking to a lawyer about the lessor's failure to meet its repair obligations, because this is not a minor comfort issue, it's a heat-safety issue for employees and customers alike.

And that's exactly why the staff deserve every bit of praise I can give them, arguably hazard pay on top of it. Despite working in what had to be brutal, borderline unsafe heat, every single person I interacted with was upbeat, attentive, and genuinely helpful. The food came out correctly and quickly, the sub itself was excellent — hot, fresh, great flavor — and nobody let the conditions show in how they treated customers. That kind of professionalism under real physical discomfort says a lot about this crew.

So: 5 stars for the people and the food, because they earned it and then some. Zero stars for whoever owns this building and is sitting on a known, unresolved AC failure. Corporate and the property owner need to get this fixed immediately — not for a better review, but because it isn't safe or fair to ask employees to work like this.“

“The whole atmosphere is very inviting. Full of history about 🚒 Firefighters and more. My grandson loves the kids meal they get a little Firehat/helmet with the meal. On your birthday you get a free medium sub loaded to your card. Not to mention the subs to me are unique and delicious. Always fresh.“

“The location on Driwood in Charlotte is right down the street from my office, so I stop in regularly for an unwich, or to meet a friend for lunch. The staff are always friendly and the service is great since they reopened with an all new crew. The last time I'd grabbed an unwich to-go and got back to my office, I was disappointed to unwrap it and find brown lettuce...never should have been served to a customer. I know nobody's perfect, though, so I went back today and showed the manager a pic of the food. He apologized and rang up my order (because he recognizes me and knows my order - now THAT'S great service!), then said I was good to go, as I pulled out my wallet. I thanked him for making things right. It's this kind of service that will keep me coming back!“
