“I first learned about Bad Manners Coffee from their Instagram page and general social media presence. When I saw the sign as I drove through WAVL I was so excited I had to drop in to finally check it out. I tried a classic iced latte with house-made strawberry syrup added and a jalapeño bagel. The latte was the perfect amount of sweet without being cloying and the bagel was warm, buttery, flaky, and had the absolute barest hint of spice. I love spice so would have enjoyed a little more but it’s mild enough that you could give it to a slightly adventurous child and they would excitedly tell you “I ate something spicy” and you could smile knowingly.
I sat out on their small one-table patio to eat my breakfast and drink my coffee. I’m happy they have it as an option but I will say it felt slightly precarious as the deck slopes downward and there is a gap between the concrete slab at the door and the wood of the patio flooring. Elderly and disabled folks should avoid this area due to the uneven footing and safety concerns but the interior is accessible and has tables.
They put up billowing and gauzy curtains and artificial plant wall coverings over lattice work to evoke a sense of privacy between the surrounding businesses and the perpetual construction happening behind the building.
The music that played seemed to be a calm and ambient mixture of Phoebe Bridgers, Mitski, and other female singer-songwriters of similar genres. The aesthetics of the interior are bright and artsy with pink walls and leafy green plant life and create a comfortably welcoming atmosphere.
Bad Manners Coffee also seems to partner with some local artists as there were cards/mini-prints and stickers available for sale with individual payment options via Venmo available. We love a local business that supports local artists!
The two baristas I encountered were warm, professional, kind, and helpful. They gave recommendations on drinks and food to myself and all following customers without being pushy or sounding like they were performing from a script. Both ladies also had exceptionally lovely smiles and hairstyles!!
I had a wonderful visit and I will be back time and again now that I know this little corner of peace exists.“

“We live just north of the village and come here often. Love Yellow Mug! Order at the counter, find a table indoors or out, they will find you when your food is ready. Terrific fresh-ground coffee, creative breakfasts, sandwiches, salads (I love The One with Quinoa and Butternut Squash—yes, that is its name). Very fresh food, veg/vegan and GF options, beer and wine, excellent wifi….one of our favorite places!!!“

“Really sweet spot, I got their pour over coffee and they had a menu just for pour over! I've never seen that and although it was only two coffees, I appreciated the tasting notes for each. The chocolate croissant was also very good. This place has such a cool vibe and the espresso machine was super slick, you won't even realize it's an espresso machine . This place is definitely unique.“

“We are in town for a month and have been enjoying Zuma coffee, baked goods (blueberry muffins!) and sandwiches. Great latte, the new espresso machine obviously working well! We’ve been enjoying the sandwiches and planning to try some provisions for an upcoming weekend to make life easier. Recommended!“

“This place is so great that we ate breakfast there every morning that we were in Asheville. On day one I had the Goat of Monte Cristo. They put their homemade raspberry preserve on it and it was mouth watering. I actually asked if I could buy a jar of it and bless their hearts they sold me a jar of the preserve, which is something that they don't normally do. Thanks you so much again. I am enjoying it at home now. Everything we ate was excellent, every day. They are located in the Grove Arcade Building. DON'T MISS IT!!!!“

“We have visited once for dinner and once for breakfast and I have a tough time putting down my utensils. Dinner with 4 had tartar and mussels and calamari apps and all were perfect. I had the Gemelli pasta dish (gluten sensitive) and enjoyed the flavors. For breakfast I had the Benedict Hash. My mouth wants to marry that sauce. The steak and eggs were perfectly cooked, the sauce is bold with lemon and paprika and oh so delicious.“

“I go to Izzy's on Lexington regularly. It's my favorite coffee shop in Asheville. Usually Rand is the barista when I show up and he's great at his job and he's warm and friendly. The coffee is good and the baked goods (especially the fig and olive scone) are delicious. The coffee shop has great art that rotates, local artists are supported. I would recommend Izzy's to anyone and have nothing but good things to say about it.“

“The Staff at this location are amazing! The GM here really does her job! She is amazing! You can tell that her staff are trained and that standards are set and followed. The Staff are always so friendly and smiling. I quit Starbucks for awhile because of other locations, this one brought me back!!“

“While visiting Asheville recently with our dog, we used the BringFido app to scout out a good coffee shop. We found a great one! BringFido recommended BattleCat, among others. BattleCat was close to our hotel, so we headed there and were thrilled to enjoy one of the best cups of coffee ever and the bagel sandwiches were delicious! The place was really busy, with a line that wrapped two walls of the café, but the very knowledgeable and expert baristas (only two of them) kept it moving right along as they pumped out the coffee and the breakfast items. The next morning, for the sake of variety and exploration of a new place, we hesitantly decided to try one of the other coffee shops recommended by BringFido. It was also very good, and we’d go back… BUT we have to say it was Battlecat for the WIN and that will be our place of choice every time we visit Asheville from now on. The coffee was full-bodied with a bright profile that was neither bitter nor tangy and simply had a rich, FRESH roasted flavor. So satisfying.“

“I am a foodie/food-snob. I admit it. I am so often disappointed by my restaurant experiences. Last night, my partner and i had one of the best meals in Asheville we can remember. Bold, sensual, well-balanced dishes (somewhere in the neighborhood Charleston's Xiao Bar Biscuit). Off the hook (if a little pricey) wine list.“

“The atmosphere and drinks were amazing! However we arrived around 5 o’clock and were told no coffee after 4pm - but they had coffee for cocktails. It was upsetting for our designated driver who was looking forward to enjoying a coffee while we had cocktails. Hoping this rule will change so we can enjoy a responsible night out in the future!“

“If you are looking for a very chill spot and some tasty simple food, Flour is the spot. Free wifi and quiet in the mornings. A great spot to chat with a friend in peace or get some work done. Sit upstairs and get some people watching in on the streets of downtown.
This is not a true restaurant, but a mini restaurant with only a few items on the menu and no full kitchen. But the biscuits beg to differ -- they are delicious. Crispy and buttery on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and FLAVORFUL. Latte with house made syrup is totally worth it too. And we had a pistachio chocolate chip cookie that was simply delightful -- crisp and salty edges, melty buttery gooey middle.
This is NOT a fun vibe (at least not on a Wednesday morning at 10am). If you're looking for a similar menu but way more vibes, head to Butter Punk.“
