“If you are looking for a very chill spot and some tasty simple food, Flour is the spot. Free wifi and quiet in the mornings. A great spot to chat with a friend in peace or get some work done. Sit upstairs and get some people watching in on the streets of downtown.
This is not a true restaurant, but a mini restaurant with only a few items on the menu and no full kitchen. But the biscuits beg to differ -- they are delicious. Crispy and buttery on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and FLAVORFUL. Latte with house made syrup is totally worth it too. And we had a pistachio chocolate chip cookie that was simply delightful -- crisp and salty edges, melty buttery gooey middle.
This is NOT a fun vibe (at least not on a Wednesday morning at 10am). If you're looking for a similar menu but way more vibes, head to Butter Punk.“

“I first learned about Bad Manners Coffee from their Instagram page and general social media presence. When I saw the sign as I drove through WAVL I was so excited I had to drop in to finally check it out. I tried a classic iced latte with house-made strawberry syrup added and a jalapeño bagel. The latte was the perfect amount of sweet without being cloying and the bagel was warm, buttery, flaky, and had the absolute barest hint of spice. I love spice so would have enjoyed a little more but it’s mild enough that you could give it to a slightly adventurous child and they would excitedly tell you “I ate something spicy” and you could smile knowingly.
I sat out on their small one-table patio to eat my breakfast and drink my coffee. I’m happy they have it as an option but I will say it felt slightly precarious as the deck slopes downward and there is a gap between the concrete slab at the door and the wood of the patio flooring. Elderly and disabled folks should avoid this area due to the uneven footing and safety concerns but the interior is accessible and has tables.
They put up billowing and gauzy curtains and artificial plant wall coverings over lattice work to evoke a sense of privacy between the surrounding businesses and the perpetual construction happening behind the building.
The music that played seemed to be a calm and ambient mixture of Phoebe Bridgers, Mitski, and other female singer-songwriters of similar genres. The aesthetics of the interior are bright and artsy with pink walls and leafy green plant life and create a comfortably welcoming atmosphere.
Bad Manners Coffee also seems to partner with some local artists as there were cards/mini-prints and stickers available for sale with individual payment options via Venmo available. We love a local business that supports local artists!
The two baristas I encountered were warm, professional, kind, and helpful. They gave recommendations on drinks and food to myself and all following customers without being pushy or sounding like they were performing from a script. Both ladies also had exceptionally lovely smiles and hairstyles!!
I had a wonderful visit and I will be back time and again now that I know this little corner of peace exists.“

“I loved the Americano that Talia made and the GF muffin. Yes, let's hear it for Gluten Free pastries. And the atmosphere. Thanks. #dannyhiker“
“I love this new location! The baristas yesterday did such a good job on such a busy saturday. There were only 3 people working the front and one on bar (she did amazing and my drink was so good). They all did such a good job with all of the chaos and keeping everyone’s orders straight. The vibes were immaculate. Thank you all!“

“We are in town for a month and have been enjoying Zuma coffee, baked goods (blueberry muffins!) and sandwiches. Great latte, the new espresso machine obviously working well! We’ve been enjoying the sandwiches and planning to try some provisions for an upcoming weekend to make life easier. Recommended!“

“So…a kava bar…in a gas station…right off a major highway… Sounds like a disaster, right? When I tell you that you HAVE TO stop in, you HAVE to stop in.
The owner, Veronica, is a high-energy chick. She took a gamble and it is paying off. This wild location is weird in all the right ways. It has great views of the surrounding area and a very DIY feel. You can sense the heart and soul that was poured into this place.
So, how’s the kava? If you’re a purist, you’ll LOVE it here. No micronized. No extracts. Just fresh-brewed, filtered cold water, hand-squeezed kava. Vanuatu, Fiji, Tongan, Solomon, the full spectrum. It’s all here.
If you’re a kratom drinker, like I am, you may be disappointed to find it missing from the menu. However, there is a WIDE variety of coffees here. Veronica clued me into something called “white coffee” that is a MUST for anyone who is passionate about coffee.
Great views, wild location, immaculate vibes. “KavaXCoffee Asheville” is a must-stop location for both locals and passers-through.“
“I adore this place to the bone. I’ve never had a bad experience here and it shows the moment you walk in. It’s a gorgeous store that supports artists with their things for sale. The owner and every barista are amazing people who offer to fix anything if you need it. Great for studying/drawing/reading. I don’t think I could go anywhere else!“

“This place is so great that we ate breakfast there every morning that we were in Asheville. On day one I had the Goat of Monte Cristo. They put their homemade raspberry preserve on it and it was mouth watering. I actually asked if I could buy a jar of it and bless their hearts they sold me a jar of the preserve, which is something that they don't normally do. Thanks you so much again. I am enjoying it at home now. Everything we ate was excellent, every day. They are located in the Grove Arcade Building. DON'T MISS IT!!!!“

“We have visited once for dinner and once for breakfast and I have a tough time putting down my utensils. Dinner with 4 had tartar and mussels and calamari apps and all were perfect. I had the Gemelli pasta dish (gluten sensitive) and enjoyed the flavors. For breakfast I had the Benedict Hash. My mouth wants to marry that sauce. The steak and eggs were perfectly cooked, the sauce is bold with lemon and paprika and oh so delicious.“

“I go to Izzy's on Lexington regularly. It's my favorite coffee shop in Asheville. Usually Rand is the barista when I show up and he's great at his job and he's warm and friendly. The coffee is good and the baked goods (especially the fig and olive scone) are delicious. The coffee shop has great art that rotates, local artists are supported. I would recommend Izzy's to anyone and have nothing but good things to say about it.“

“I went by in to get a gift card as a thank you for a family member. They were happy to receive it. While I was there Starbucks was giving away peppermint mocha iced coffee samples. I tried one and it was extremely sweet-like hot chocolate. I will not be buying that! I like my coffee without sugar. They were able to ring me up quickly and were very helpful. The gift card choices were displayed out front and one said “thank you” so it was perfect. Overall it was a good experience.“
“Decided to try a new spot, and happy I did! Rich flavor profile coffee, sweet people, clean space. Step off the main street and try Deep Time.“

“I am a foodie/food-snob. I admit it. I am so often disappointed by my restaurant experiences. Last night, my partner and i had one of the best meals in Asheville we can remember. Bold, sensual, well-balanced dishes (somewhere in the neighborhood Charleston's Xiao Bar Biscuit). Off the hook (if a little pricey) wine list.“
“I am here from out of town as part of the Hurricane Helene recovery effort & this Starbucks is open currently. They can’t use the espresso machine because of the water quality currently in the city but the young woman who was working yesterday and the young woman working this morning went above and beyond brewing coffee with gallon waters & making the drinks as close to “normal” as possible.
A hot cup of Starbucks coffee has been a luxury I have been looking forward to for a couple weeks and these two cups have hit the spot this week.“
“NEWLY OPENED
So I decided to stop in, but decided to take it to go.
Small location with limited inside sitting available. Small patio with some tables and chairs. It was winter time when I visited so outside was NOT appealing to me at that time.
Seems more of a drive thru location that anything else.“

“GET IT WHILE IT'S HOT!
I got the tastiest coffee made to perfection from the sweetest gal yesterday. Hospitality, atmosphere, quality, accuracy and palatability were shining at this mall location. Past visits I enjoyed but was not so impressed. This easily surpasses the 'stareborks' standard I use in my mind. Well done y'all.“

“While visiting Asheville recently with our dog, we used the BringFido app to scout out a good coffee shop. We found a great one! BringFido recommended BattleCat, among others. BattleCat was close to our hotel, so we headed there and were thrilled to enjoy one of the best cups of coffee ever and the bagel sandwiches were delicious! The place was really busy, with a line that wrapped two walls of the café, but the very knowledgeable and expert baristas (only two of them) kept it moving right along as they pumped out the coffee and the breakfast items. The next morning, for the sake of variety and exploration of a new place, we hesitantly decided to try one of the other coffee shops recommended by BringFido. It was also very good, and we’d go back… BUT we have to say it was Battlecat for the WIN and that will be our place of choice every time we visit Asheville from now on. The coffee was full-bodied with a bright profile that was neither bitter nor tangy and simply had a rich, FRESH roasted flavor. So satisfying.“

“The atmosphere and drinks were amazing! However we arrived around 5 o’clock and were told no coffee after 4pm - but they had coffee for cocktails. It was upsetting for our designated driver who was looking forward to enjoying a coffee while we had cocktails. Hoping this rule will change so we can enjoy a responsible night out in the future!“

“Just went through with my fiancé to get some refreshers after work. We haven’t tried this location before but since we had to come out this way, we gave it a shot. First off, the drinks are absolutely amazing. I haven’t had one made this great in a while. The staff were very kind and trying their best. It took a while to get through their drive thru but ONLY because they’re short staffed and that’s not the employees fault. They were kind and compensated us for having to wait (very unexpected, we didn’t mind waiting since they explained what was happening; but we appreciated them going above and beyond!) They were kind, hard working and had smiles on their faces. All I can say is Starbucks, get them some more staff when you can! I’ve worked in food service before and it’s not for the faint of heart, especially when you’re short staffed and busy. I admire them keeping a positive attitude even when, I’m sure, they were worn out. Thanks guys!“

“We live just north of the village and come here often. Love Yellow Mug! Order at the counter, find a table indoors or out, they will find you when your food is ready. Terrific fresh-ground coffee, creative breakfasts, sandwiches, salads (I love The One with Quinoa and Butternut Squash—yes, that is its name). Very fresh food, veg/vegan and GF options, beer and wine, excellent wifi….one of our favorite places!!!“
