“Flat Rock Cinema is one of those places that makes a town feel like a town. We come here for movies, for live music and for comedy, and it's rare to find one room that does all three well, let alone one that feels this good to walk into.

The popcorn absolutely earns its world famous reputation, and the drink selection goes well past anything you'd expect from a theater.

What we appreciate most is that somebody clearly cares about this place. You can feel it in how it's run and in how people get treated the minute they come through the door. Independent theaters don't survive by accident, and this town is lucky to have this one.“

“I am a local to the area and Flat Rock Village Bakery is my favorite local bakery in town. The food is delicious, local (which you don't find a lot), and the staff is 10 out of 10. They are all so sweet and friendly! I stop for coffee almost daily! If you're local or just here on vacation it is definitely somewhere you should think about stopping!“

The variety makes it easy to bring the whole family because everyone will find something they love. The prices are the best I’ve seen in a long time, and the service was top-notch. “We’re local and honestly do not go out much. Service has declined and it hasnt been worth it. Our last few experiences at our Flat Rock Waffle House have left much to be desired. Once a regular stop, we have avoided the location on Upward Road. Tonight a random craving for a chicken sandwich and hashbrowns hit me. My husband and I decided to drop in. Im so happy we did. This was the most enjoyable dining experience we have had in a while. Our server Tasha was absolutely amazing. She was welcoming, attentive and made it look easy. She is an asset to this location. And our cook, Dakota, top tier. Food was awesome. Hashbrowns were perfect. Thank you guys! We will see u soon!!!!!“

We then headed for the St. Paul Vineyards, only to find that they were fairly crowded, and that we'd previously visited there on an Asheville trip four years earlier. Maria began looking for one on her phone, but something about the surrounding terrain seemed familiar, and I told her I sensed a Sonic close by. As expected, one appeared as we crested a hill, and it was the same one we'd had lunch at four years earlier. Burgers and iced tea were very good. Servers on roller skates continue to astound me. I have an aversion to body casts.“
